I first met Angelina 3 plus years ago when she performed her super personal version of Bohemian Rapsody at AGT the champions and from there on I've been happily and blissfully basking in Her rabbit hole. Thank you for the wonderful reaction to these three versions. As you can see each time she sings the song , it’s different. They are all beautiful. She said that she wrote the initial lyrics, then when she was in the studio with her band, they all knew something special was happening and that tears were flowing. What we hear is the final result of that session. She knows what’s she likes and needs, when it comes to her music. She expresses that very professionally and humbly. She is also humbly accepts input. She is truly an amazing person, with a desire to spread love and kindness through her music.
Being the age I am (85 year old widower), I'm trying to imagine what being on the receiving end of this song would mean. What a privilege it would be to have meant so much to your granddaughter that she would dedicate a song to your memory, and sing it with such feeling. It makes me want to be a much better grandfather (and great--grandfather, and uncle, etc ). Thank you Angelina.

Today so it was told by different sources, especially at Christmas, AJ was seen, bringing dinner to homeless people in LA. CEO Lippmann of Republic Records and LA chief of studios Mr. Rob Christie, her pianist, promised hern green reign in her art !!! When looking for musicians for her videos, she decides whom she takes. It was said, that to be working for AJ is like a springboard for your career, because Ms. Jordan takes only the Best. She also works with he now permanent Video director. She draws the story boards of how she wants to see the videos and this gentleman works it. She is called THE BOSS for good reasons. Complete control over her craft and work. When singing this song live in Norway at 10th of july, her uncle mike was standing in front of the stage, working as a body guard. (down left corner in the picture). It's 3:14am EST and I'm sitting at my computer listening to these three versions with you. When she wrote the song she hoped it would help other people who have found themselves in a similar situation. She is so special. Her character as a person and her soulfulness when she sings touches everyone who watches her and listens to her. She has no boundaries: Gender, age, color, religion, occupation, musical preference, make up her fan base (her 'angels') and every day there are more and more people jumping aboard and joining us on her journey. She is already a bona fide superstar and it's incredible to realize she hasn't committed herself 100% to her career yet. When that day arrives I believe Angelina and her support team including her loving family will be prepared to face the challenges which lie ahead. With fame and celebrity she must be protected and I have all the confidence in the world Angelina and Republic will take the steps necessary to insure her well being. I heard from many fans that went to her concerts in Norway that hearing her live is even better than watching her videos! Definitely that is something on my bucket list! For many of us, listening to her music, such has this one, is an experience that helps in dealing with whatever may be troubling us. When I lost my mom, this song helped me through the rough times. There is one more version than these 3 it was made just before she was signed to Republic Records it was the reason Republic wanted her so much they agreed to her terms. The person who made that decision just recently came to LA to meet her it was Jonathan Moffett a big surprise for both he was MJ's drummer for 30 years plus a long list of others.
I believe that most of the difference between her studio/music videos and the live concert last July was that she was 2 years older in the latter. However, I think her live performances are almost always better than her studio performances. An audience in front of her, turns on her vocal turbochargers, IMO!!! Thanks for making me tear up 3 times this morning. When this song was first released, Million Miles got me to properly grieve the loss of loved ones. Now a couple years later, I tear up partly thinking of those I have lost but mostly because Million Miles has me more emotionally balanced, allowing a much better quality of life. We need to honor those who we have lost by living our lives to the best of our ability and make them proud. I am confident, Million Miles will always be one of Angelina's most loved songs.

I lost my mom, also an Angelina fan, in February. I listen to this song almost every day, as it helps me sleep peacefully, during this very difficult time. Yes, the tears flow often. I told my grief counselor about this song and how it has helped me. She called me back after she listened to it and told that she was providing counseling to a lady who had lost a parent and was told that her daughter was suicidal over the loss, the counselor provided this song to the mother to help the daughter though that severe grief. What an amazing gift Angelina has given the world. ❤❤❤

In the edition of ‘A Magisinet’ of the 22nd december 2017, she is on a picture with her vocal teacher. It says this: ‘Angelina Jordan tar vokaltimer, men ikke for å skolere stemmen i særlig grad. teamet rundt henne frykter at særpregregret i stemmen skal bli borte. her øver angelina med læreren linn larsen, og glamouren er langt unna.’ Which according to Google Translates means this: ‘Angelina Jordan takes vocal lessons, but not to train her voice to any great extent. the team around her fears that the distinctive character in her voice will be lost. here Angelina practices with the teacher Linn Larsen, and the glamor is far away.’ Additionally a vocal teacher can be seen on older video’s who also came to her concerts. With regard to her black and white version of I Put A Spell On You, it is said that her vocal teachers advised against using her voice like that. Here comes my conjecture, I would imagine that the vocal teachers do one or two things: coaching her on healthy singing techniques to prevent her from damaging her voice. Something that apparently Adele suffered a lot from. I say apparently, since I did not research it in great detail. Angelina’s family seems very level headed, and it makes sense to me that they would ensure that she wouldn’t damage her voice. The second thing might be helping reach specific goals. I have the impression from her latests concerts that her upper range has increased and she did quite a bit of beautiful high pitched singing. Again the exact the purpose of the vocal training is conjecture. It is not conjecture however that she did have vocal coaching 🙂
@@pietersbart Thank you for delving into this. It has always been obvious to me that Angelina has had and very likely gets voice coaching, because it shows in her exponential growth as a singer. Being a prodigy doesn’t mean not benefitting from advice and training, it means being able to adopt and adapt knowledge faster than almost everyone else. Also, such an immensely valuable instrument needs to be handled with care!
Yes confirmation is there that she has had vocal coaches, and as far as we know, the only ones who have spoken on it also said they mostly try not to mess up anything she has going on. Most of her training is on sheet music, arrangements, instruments it sounds like. But to say no vocal coaches is a stretch, we assume she has had many, and that most of it is just to answer her questions and give advice. Her family seems to have instilled in her the confidence to be her own vocal coach. But who knows today, all that news is well before Republic. All we know is she has listened to protecting her voice clearly. She goes way too hard very infrequently, relies on other methods in her art, and that means she understands this is a terrible time to damage your voice and that that is possible for anyone. And that republic hasn't changed her at all as of yet. It all looks like natural growth and natural expansion of her skillset as ever. But she's incredibly humble and hardworking, gifted and confident or not, would probably love advice, critiques and knowledgeable brains to pick on specifically vocals, at all times. This does not take away from her self made greatness at all, no need to make that claim, even with the minor proof of it out there suggesting vocal coaches mostly just exist near her in case she wants them, when she was younger. She has an elite career worth of work out there already and seemingly never stops, if she is capable of learning from others as well, great. Her unreal talent and versatility at 16, that isn't even possible, should suggest she takes all the help she can get. One would think the maximum possible amount of help, giftedness, confidence, passion, humility and work ethic would have to be involved. Nearly no singers get that good in 16 years, let alone at 16 years old. I'm not sure anyone has ever been that good, as much as have a strength or two that does compete with her. It suggests self made, otherwise more would be made. But it does not suggest no vocal coaching or help. One day we'll get a bunch of answers in interviews and stuff, until then, I will assume she's had and made use of many vocal coaches, despite what our like 8 year old information tells us. Don't get me wrong, she probably teaches them even more.

She is the ultimate storyteller and the only person I know who is able to reveal the hidden emotions within a song, whatever the genre. I have followed her since 2014 and listened to everything she has done and not once have I been disappointed, and I'm a grumpy, cynical old man. Well I was until I discovered this remarkable young girl who, over time, has converted me into quite a reasonable old man. :-) In her short life, Angelina has had to come to terms with the death of several people close to her: both grandfathers, two friends and one of her idols. Her way of coping with the grief is to pay tribute to them in song. "Million miles" is an original song by her to honour her maternal grandfather, who died in 2019. Her tribute to her paternal grandfather, who died in 2018, was the song "Always on my mind"'; to Ari Behn, a family friend, who committed suicide in 2019, it was "Trampoline"; to her friend Avicii (Tim Bergling), who committed suicide in 2018,it was a rearranged version of his song "Wake me up"; and to her idol, Aretha Franklin, who died in 2018, it was rearrangement of one of Aretha's hits,"A natural woman". I am delighted that you included a performance of Angelina singing "Million miles" at her Norwegian concert in July 2022. She slowed it down quite a lot - which to me emphasised the emotion - and that very, very gut-wrenching end ending surprised everyone. If she includes the song on her album, I hope she retains that ending and the slower tempo.

Angelina said that the tears were flowing when she was recording the studio version. At her last concert in Norway (July 10), Angelina dedicated this song to her beloved grandmother Mery (who couldn't make the trip) and that added another level of emotion!

Angelina not only has the ability to improve great songs from the past, but she is also able to improve even her own songs. This song was great when she released it, but the slower version she did in her live shows this summer is just extra special. Somehow she is always better live. And I love the music video she made for this one too. It's great that she uses her family in her videos. Her little sister Juliette, and uncle Michael did a great job :)

Mery Zamani AJ's grandmother, Mery Zamani, is a famous artist herself, and was a child prodigy, and she has been a strong influence on AJ's life. “She is my truly mentor,” says Jordan. The live performance of this song, the one you've just watched, is from Kongsberg (Norway), july 7th 2022. I was there. Front row. What was it like? I wish I could find the words to describe it but it's impossible. No dictionary in any language on earth has a word for it. Mike, I saw you shyly dry a few tears from your eyes. Thank you for the wonderful reaction to these three versions. As you can see each time she sings the song , it’s different. They are all beautiful. She said that she wrote the initial lyrics, then when she was in the studio with her band, they all knew something special was happening and that tears were flowing. What we hear is the final result of that session. She knows what’s she likes and needs, when it comes to her music. She expresses that very professionally and humbly. She is also humbly accepts input.
She is truly an amazing person, with a desire to spread love and kindness through her music.
Being the age I am (85 year old widower), I'm trying to imagine what being on the receiving end of this song would mean. What a privilege it would be to have meant so much to your granddaughter that she would dedicate a song to your memory, and sing it with such feeling. It makes me want to be a much better grandfather (and great--grandfather, and uncle, etc ). Thank you Angelina.

Today so it was told by different sources, especially at Christmas, AJ was seen, bringing dinner to homeless people in LA. CEO Lippmann of Republic Records and LA chief of studios Mr. Rob Christie, her pianist, promised hern green reign in her art !!! When looking for musicians for her videos, she decides whom she takes. It was said, that to be working for AJ is like a springboard for your career, because Ms. Jordan takes only the Best. She also works with he now permanent Video director. She draws the story boards of how she wants to see the videos and this gentleman works it. She is called THE BOSS for good reasons. Complete control over her craft and work.
When singing this song live in Norway at 10th of july, her uncle mike was standing in front of the stage, working as a body guard. (down left corner in the picture). He had to fight tears, when she sang this song. That is why she stepped over to him lending support. This is the song about his beloved stepdad. In the music video he played his step dad and Juliette played AJ.

It's 3:14am EST and I'm sitting at my computer listening to these three versions with you. When she wrote the song she hoped it would help other people who have found themselves in a similar situation. She is so special.
Her character as a person and her soulfulness when she sings touches everyone who watches her and listens to her. She has no boundaries: Gender, age, color, religion, occupation, musical preference, make up her fan base (her 'angels') and every day there are more and more people jumping aboard and joining us on her journey. She is already a bona fide superstar and it's incredible to realize she hasn't committed herself 100% to her career yet. When that day arrives I believe Angelina and her support team including her loving family will be prepared to face the challenges which lie ahead. With fame and celebrity she must be protected and I have all the confidence in the world Angelina and Republic will take the steps necessary to insure her well being. We can pray for her in our own ways and let her know we will always be by her side and she can always draw strength from us.

I heard from many fans that went to her concerts in Norway that hearing her live is even better than watching her videos! Definitely that is something on my bucket list! For many of us, listening to her music, such has this one, is an experience that helps in dealing with whatever may be troubling us. When I lost my mom, this song helped me through the rough times. Angelina proves that she can sing her songs live; I'm glad she did it without playback. Some artists have nice albums, but they can't sing their songs live!
There is one more version than these 3 it was made just before she was signed to Republic Records it was the reason Republic wanted her so much they agreed to her terms. The person who made that decision just recently came to LA to meet her it was Jonathan Moffett a big surprise for both he was MJ's drummer for 30 years plus a long list of others.
I believe that most of the difference between her studio/music videos and the live concert last July was that she was 2 years older in the latter. However, I think her live performances are almost always better than her studio performances. An audience in front of her, turns on her vocal turbochargers, IMO!!! Great reaction & a great idea to do 3 in 1. She never sings a song the same way twice.

Thanks for making me tear up 3 times this morning. When this song was first released, Million Miles got me to properly grieve the loss of loved ones. Now a couple years later, I tear up partly thinking of those I have lost but mostly because Million Miles has me more emotionally balanced, allowing a much better quality of life. We need to honor those who we have lost by living our lives to the best of our ability and make them proud. I am confident, Million Miles will always be one of Angelina's most loved songs.

I lost my mom, also an Angelina fan, in February. I listen to this song almost every day, as it helps me sleep peacefully, during this very difficult time. Yes, the tears flow often. I told my grief counselor about this song and how it has helped me. She called me back after she listened to it and told that she was providing counseling to a lady who had lost a parent and was told that her daughter was suicidal over the loss, the counselor provided this song to the mother to help the daughter though that severe grief.

Hey Larry, this is persistent misunderstanding. It is not true that she never had vocal training. In the edition of ‘A Magisinet’ of the 22nd december 2017, she is on a picture with her vocal teacher. It says this: ‘Angelina Jordan tar vokaltimer, men ikke for å skolere stemmen i særlig grad. teamet rundt henne frykter at særpregregret i stemmen skal bli borte. her øver angelina med læreren linn larsen, og glamouren er langt unna.’ Which according to Google Translates means this: ‘Angelina Jordan takes vocal lessons, but not to train her voice to any great extent. the team around her fears that the distinctive character in her voice will be lost. here Angelina practices with the teacher Linn Larsen, and the glamor is far away.’ Additionally a vocal teacher can be seen on older video’s who also came to her concerts. With regard to her black and white version of I Put A Spell On You, it is said that her vocal teachers advised against using her voice like that.
Here comes my conjecture, I would imagine that the vocal teachers do one or two things: coaching her on healthy singing techniques to prevent her from damaging her voice. Something that apparently Adele suffered a lot from. I say apparently, since I did not research it in great detail. Angelina’s family seems very level headed, and it makes sense to me that they would ensure that she wouldn’t damage her voice. The second thing might be helping reach specific goals. I have the impression from her latests concerts that her upper range has increased and she did quite a bit of beautiful high pitched singing. Again the exact the purpose of the vocal training is conjecture. It is not conjecture however that she did have vocal coaching 🙂
@@pietersbart Thank you for delving into this. It has always been obvious to me that Angelina has had and very likely gets voice coaching, because it shows in her exponential growth as a singer. Being a prodigy doesn’t mean not benefitting from advice and training, it means being able to adopt and adapt knowledge faster than almost everyone else. Also, such an immensely valuable instrument needs to be handled with care!
Yes confirmation is there that she has had vocal coaches, and as far as we know, the only ones who have spoken on it also said they mostly try not to mess up anything she has going on. Most of her training is on sheet music, arrangements, instruments it sounds like. But to say no vocal coaches is a stretch, we assume she has had many, and that most of it is just to answer her questions and give advice. Her family seems to have instilled in her the confidence to be her own vocal coach. But who knows today, all that news is well before Republic. All we know is she has listened to protecting her voice clearly. She goes way too hard very infrequently, relies on other methods in her art, and that means she understands this is a terrible time to damage your voice and that that is possible for anyone. And that republic hasn't changed her at all as of yet. It all looks like natural growth and natural expansion of her skillset as ever. But she's incredibly humble and hardworking, gifted and confident or not, would probably love advice, critiques and knowledgeable brains to pick on specifically vocals, at all times.
This does not take away from her self made greatness at all, no need to make that claim, even with the minor proof of it out there suggesting vocal coaches mostly just exist near her in case she wants them, when she was younger. She has an elite career worth of work out there already and seemingly never stops, if she is capable of learning from others as well, great. Her unreal talent and versatility at 16, that isn't even possible, should suggest she takes all the help she can get. One would think the maximum possible amount of help, giftedness, confidence, passion, humility and work ethic would have to be involved. Nearly no singers get that good in 16 years, let alone at 16 years old. I'm not sure anyone has ever been that good, as much as have a strength or two that does compete with her. It suggests self made, otherwise more would be made. But it does not suggest no vocal coaching or help. One day we'll get a bunch of answers in interviews and stuff, until then, I will assume she's had and made use of many vocal coaches, despite what our like 8 year old information tells us. Don't get me wrong, she probably teaches them even more.

As you have realised, Angelina doesn't just sing songs, she "lives them" on every performance. She is the ultimate storyteller and the only person I know who is able to reveal the hidden emotions within a song, whatever the genre. I have followed her since 2014 and listened to everything she has done and not once have I been disappointed, and I'm a grumpy, cynical old man. Well I was until I discovered this remarkable young girl who, over time, has converted me into quite a reasonable old man. :-)
In her short life, Angelina has had to come to terms with the death of several people close to her: both grandfathers, two friends and one of her idols. Her way of coping with the grief is to pay tribute to them in song. "Million miles" is an original song by her to honour her maternal grandfather, who died in 2019. Her tribute to her paternal grandfather, who died in 2018, was the song "Always on my mind"'; to Ari Behn, a family friend, who committed suicide in 2019, it was "Trampoline"; to her friend Avicii (Tim Bergling), who committed suicide in 2018,it was a rearranged version of his song "Wake me up"; and to her idol, Aretha Franklin, who died in 2018, it was rearrangement of one of Aretha's hits,"A natural woman".
I am delighted that you included a performance of Angelina singing "Million miles" at her Norwegian concert in July 2022. She slowed it down quite a lot - which to me emphasised the emotion - and that very, very gut-wrenching end ending surprised everyone. If she includes the song on her album, I hope she retains that ending and the slower tempo.

Great work guys. I thought I noticed a few tears..?? Angelina's sister Juliette is playing the younger Angelina and her uncle Michael is her grandfather in the music video. Angelina said that the tears were flowing when she was recording the studio version. At her last concert in Norway (July 10), Angelina dedicated this song to her beloved grandmother Mery (who couldn't make the trip) and that added another level of emotion!

Angelina not only has the ability to improve great songs from the past, but she is also able to improve even her own songs. This song was great when she released it, but the slower version she did in her live shows this summer is just extra special. Somehow she is always better live.

I am pretty sure I saw one reactor who on hearing the slower live version for the first time was sure it was a different song... it's amazing how she has "improved" an already brilliant song... one that I am convinced is underestimated - by the world, not her fans, as it should be recognised and wins awards (IMHO)
Good songwriters construct their songs from their own pain and/or joy. Angelina wanted to give this song to everyone who has lost someone they loved. But the process of writing and performing the song was/is theraputic to her as well. AJ's grandmother, Mery Zamani, is a famous artist herself, and was a child prodigy, and she has been a strong influence on AJ's life. “She is my truly mentor,” says Jordan. Jordan published a book illustrated by her grandmother, when she was 9, and they create art together regularly. AJ is the youngest author to publish a book in Norway to date.
I believe Mery's experiences as a child prodigy informed greatly the family's ability to navigate extensive fame at a very young age. In any case, they've done a great job. 😎
