Not a bad game, but not this god given masterpiece. I got this game when it came out. Loved Hot Pursuit 2, U1 and U2. But something on Most Wanted felt not right. Beside of the ugly piss filter, motion blur, the terrible heavy car feeling, bland boring world. Don't want to praise U2, it has tons of problems, but the cars had a better feeling and world was more interesting. From the Docks, to the city into the mountain area.
Playing devil's advocate, I think the _"look because you wanted games like MW'05, they started making these mediocre games!"_ point is if not a tad unfair, also fairly inaccurate. At best they just threw in surface level fan-service, but the new games has for the most part been using new ideas and especially new formula; the new games barely did anything resembling this game in narrative nor progression formula. As much as I agree with many of the criticism MW'05 got, I think it still retains the unique aspect as the one of the few open-world _illegal_ street racing game where they not only made police pursuits mandatory, but also has it's own fun little challenges that you can keep track of and strive for (tbh I don't really remember any other game, except Rivals). Infractions seems like such an insignificant mechanic in the bigger picture, but I think it's one of the key reason why the pursuit in this game is so darn fun; it makes messing around with the cops matter and doesn't feel like you are wasting your precious time that could be used to, for example, grind reps and money instead. Although I agree that in the end it just results in time padding, on-paper, having the heat on your garaged car slowly cools down is not only immersive, but in theory also helps you in achieving those infractions that requires you to stay in pursuit for a certain period of time; because lower heat are both easier to evade and also took awhile until you regain heat level, which is good news for the average player who prefer not to stay in high heat chases for too long (it can be quite intense and tiring after all). The impact of not having this formula is quite clear when in the next game, Carbon, cops became an afterthought and something to avoid whenever possible; pursuit chases became a pointless affair and this is what happens in the new games also, cops just turn into annoyance rather than something to look forward to. In the new games most players just play as Solid Snake trying to avoid triggering a pursuit at all cost and escape as soon as possible, there's no reveling in the experience of chase itself. People kept asking for a "better police chases" yet everyone just forgets that to make the chases inherently fun *or* rewarding, it also have to matter and contribute towards your progression in one way or another like what MW'05 has.
@@YellowbirdYT you have no idea how much this and Underground 2 had been put on a pedestal for years within not just racing game fans, but the general CoD, GTA and Mario touting gamers, that they we're even as far as willing to have GTA Tragedy competing remasters that could potentially kill the series once and for all knowing EA with how Hot Pursuit 2010 remasters we're basically a last gen console port with all the DLC's that we're never on PC minus two Mercedes SLR and that one conceptual popo car which might be the case with these remasters but with Toyota

Yeah, the MW vinyls aren't too good. I always tried to make something, but I just can't. They had to cut some options from UG.
And that you can't apply the blacklist vinyls on your own cars.

Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit, 4: High Stakes, Porsche Unleashed and Underground 1/2 define the series for me.
I understand the appeal behind MW, but trying to recreate it has failed for EA.
For me Hot Pursuit 2, Underground 2 and Carbon define it for me.

Cops 2nd
Well said, this game was good before but it has aged 👍
It's not a bad game, but... I feel Need For Speed should look at other alternatives to survive. Glad you enjoyed!
Aged poorly to me because of rubberbanding

Left it there on purpose, glad you noticed!

Yeah.
Even though I love this game very much, I’m smart enough to avoid being a fanboy. Very well made video, my good man. MEGA props!
I like these games, they are a part of my childhood. But I do wish EA didn't feel so pushed to always revisit this formula. Thanks!
