7:38 I didn't stop complaining because I stopped caring; I stopped complaining because I _genuinely_ stopped buying games that do this, no matter how hype I was for them. The industry is vast and I can replace something instantly, I will not put up with this, ever. It's generally pretty easy to avoid as long as you just blacklist EA, Ubisoft, and Activision/Blizzard, from your sphere of interest.
the only need for speed game I liked was NFS:World. Hands down the best game. Had tons of customizations, tons of upgrades, tons of missions, large open world map. It was great. And then EA shut down the servers and to this day are super anal about people making their own servers.
That is not what I thought Mr. Spatnz would look like, I pictured something more like a grown up version of Gibby from I carly mixed with some features from John from John tron.
1:30 "the need for speed games killed the game franchise" *Immediately mentions asphalt 9/legends unite right after that (unintended but great example)*
BIG NFS fan since MW ‘12 (my very first NFS game in the early-10’s). I love Unbound for sure, but its story, plus its characters, can use a lot of work. I don’t mind the cars and its customization, they’re pretty noice. And with wraps existing, it’s letting your imagination run wild (for example, I made two car wraps based around “Yellowjackets” and “RWBY”). But I feel like NFS would get more value if their old titles get modern releases (no revamps, please). It would bring NFS back into the fold amazingly and get a pretty significant fanbase to boot. Also, the NFS movie is a blur. Watched it as a tween, and it still don’t make sense today.
Need for speed just literally just created an update based on the original NFS most wanted and this video was definitely being created before the update came out, but one of the things that we do need to remind ourselves that this game was not being completely utilized by criterion during the time because those people were working on battlefield 2042 and we all know what happened with that game so if you ever take a look at the online portion of the game, it’s actually really really good and I’m surprised not that many people have been talking about it. They just added a new PV with the most wanted update and it’s actually really fun. Sure they are still bugs and whatever that definitely do need to be hammered out but with an overtime, the game has gotten a whole lot more optimized over the time compared to it was back from launch where it was unoptimized it crashed a lot and also one other thing too. It is not as bad as if you would probably say like test drive unlimited solar crown.
As someone that's played both, you should play "Most Wanted" from the mid 00's, maybe just mod out the piss filter. If you have the complaint about needing to go to a garage to change your car rather than doing it on the open road, then that's still going to be a complaint for you, but it makes sense to me personally that you can't just drop and replace your air intake and crank shaft on the side of the road while the cops are looking for you.
Good joke having asphalt sponsoring this vid It’s just a niche game nowadays I cannot stop adoring Unbound, this new mode is genuinely some of the most fun I’ve ever had in need for speed, you can feel there’s love put into this so it doesn’t matter that it isn’t incredibly popular
for the record nfsmw 2012 ended up the way it is due to ea cutting down and rushing criterion to develop it quicker and simpler. theres beta versions of ps3 test builds that have storyline basics implemented, and a different vibe to the map, also starting in a bmw m3 gtr type grey e92 as if it was the successor to the original most wanted (which it was supposed to be). it also had garage menus and such where you owned vehicles instead of the random exchange throught the map.
I will apologize because this was supposed to be a quick comment, but I quickly got carried away. There's a TL;DR below, don't worry. Many people refuse to admit it, but the real problem that Need For Speed has had from its beginnings is that it is a constant chase of trends and pop culture to the point that the series is devoid of any redeeming qualities or identity whatsoever. They also just can't nail anything to a T, because they take two steps forward and three steps behind. You can also blame EA rushing their developers for NFS's shortcomings. Sure, we had Underground 1 and 2; but that is because we had media like Fast and The Furious and 2 Fast 2 Furious and plenty of other games (Street Racing Syndicate, Juiced, etc) were chasing in the Street Racing era of JDM and many of them had very little to no definitive features for the player to really determine X game is better than Y game. As we all know it, we have moved from the Street Racing/FnF era to the CringeOver Culture that we see today with entries like Unbound. This is a risk you sadly have to face when you make a racing game based on modern times. Most Wanted 2005 is easily one of the best entries, I suggest you give it a try if you have not yet done so. The game itself is not as complex or has that many features as Underground 2 did, but they had a strong focus on what they wanted to portray with that entry to the point it was beloved by many. There's a reason why the M3 GTR is still the flagship car of the series after all of these years, and it's not just because it's a great performing car... it's because of its significance to the story and to the players themselves. For those that say get over it or grow up, you just had to be there to understand why it held such significance. Most Wanted 2012 is to put it bluntly and as sincere as possible: a nefarious scam. I will not judge you or anyone for enjoying it, but it was a scummy thing from EA to get Criterion to push out what we've got because they decided that it was more important to get their return of investment by using the Most Wanted name as a Hypetrain rather than have some quality assurance done because they were running out of time. Take a look at the leaked footage of Most Wanted 2's Beta. Seriously, the difference is night and day. That was the entry that many believed to be the start of the downfall of NFS, though that opinion is quite thrown about for most entries nowadays. Honestly, it's a bit difficult to say because this is just a subjective opinion. Now, we are coming to the recent/present day: Need for Speed Heat's story was... alright. Not remarkable, nothing to write home about, but it was okay. Unbound was... meh. There's too many references to 'family themes' as well as trying to incorporate Gen Z humor into some of the dialogue. A lot of it feels forced, and it is simply not enjoyable by many of the audience. I simply get the feeling of "How do you do, fellow kids?" with both Heat and Unbound, but Unbound is the unapologetic culprit while Heat... somehow tried. The Unbound art style? I am indifferent towards it. Remember, this came out after the Spiderverse movies became a phenomenon, EA say the gold in it and wanted a piece of it, as always. I still prefer the character models from Heat over Unbound's, but I will admit that I was relieved to see that you could remove the tag effects in Unbound to make it so that the characters are the ones cel-shaded. For me, they are simply a mixed bag. The reason why I don't exactly hate it, is because I used to play Auto Modellista as a kid, and I still on my 29 years of age (Yes. I am old and jaded, shut up.) still love it to bits. It may not be a success, but it was one in my experience. Returning to Need For Speed, though... My biggest gripe and the reason why I am reluctant on really enjoying both Heat and Unbound is because they are not consistent games in terms of design. The handling model as well as the "open world" used on those kinds of games either make the game or destroy it, there is simply no in-between. Not to mention that they must complement each other, if one core element bashes against the other, you will have a frustrating mess. From Hot Pursuit 2010 and forward, we had adopted the controversial brake-to-drift handling. Seacrest was the map used in NFS Hot Pursuit and they designed the map to sport windy, wide turns and filled with both straights and hairpins in order to let us take advantage of said driving model. In that case, it worked. It also worked in Most Wanted 2012, despite me hating the fact that the game itself bastardized the Most Wanted name. NFS 2015, Rivals and Payback were failures, but Payback managed to work it out somewhat; these games were just not worth talking about. Heat, we had a map that is a mix of sharp turns, windy turns and huge grass/swamp areas that were designed for Off-Road vehicles, which oddly enough, were not granted enough spotlight because... once again, rushed development: This was when Ghost Games got axed. Now, Criterion on control, they sought to try and reverse what Ghost did with Heat and the results...? Mixed Reviews. Brake-to-drift was still there, but the handling model was changed to the point where Drifting is not just dethroned as the best way to take corners, it became irrelevant. Grip cornering was king, and in many cases, it rewarded you too much of an edge in comparison. There is a reason why people only play Heat and Unbound with the UNITE Mods, if a racing game's handling model and map design contradict each other, the game will simply be a bad experience. And last but not least, and this will sound like a bit of whining and bickering, stop making games relatable. I play these games to feel like a racing legend and claim fame in the streets, not be some kid struggling with a reason to find a calling in life and find out that street racing is what keeps the family together. Seriously, that's just ridiculous. And don't even get me started on the voiced characters. I highly prefer a mute protagonist over that abomination we got in Unbound. So, TL;DR: What made Unbound so bad, was always a problem that was present with Need For Speed way longer than many people are willing to see through. Conflicting design, rushed development and trend chasing always halted the progress of what was once an innovative game series. And before anyone decides to go at me like... "Well, make your own game, then!" You don't have to be a chef to know your food was prepared with rotten ingredients.
As someone who played competitive Need for Speed Heat, Unbound was one of the most disappointing entries in the franchise: It just didn't work on release The story is mid It didn't get decent drifting until late in it's dev cycle Multiplayer and single player don't share progression The online is constantly under maintenance or won't connect It's a shame because the game IMMEDIATELY prior to it just works and is good.
You know whats funny? They are adding in the BMW M3 from MW to Unbound. You know what is more fun? Actually having the real deal that a entier game was made for that car. I suggest to Spatnz to TRY the other NFS,like Underground 2,Most Wanted (2005) and even NFS Pro Street. What makes Unbound even worse is that you not just have the Cops Yapping at you,but also the other Racers that comment on everything. Especially the Music that Spatnz forgot to mention that is beyond insufferable. As for the 2015 NFS it wasnt that bad at all, looks amazing, drives somewhat different, music is fitting the vibe and you can even turn off the engine and enjoy the ambient. You even got the legend himself there hoping to see you drift,Ken Block. Yes the Cutscenes are cheesy af but the game is more tolerant then Unbound. But I would still prefer all the other NFS over Unbound,Heat and anything beyond the 2015 one. I really really really DONT wish for EA to Remaster any of them,as EA would just make them worse in every way, especially with the way they went with Unbound. EA even took down Most Wanted (2005) from the store Despite all the massive purchases that have piled up for EA. There was even a situation where the Demand for NFS MW (2005) was rising and people had to pirate it because EA refused to keep the old NFS's at the Store and offline. They really are morons at making games last longer then a few year,to that I say Dont buy Unbound, and get yourself the old ones, the community behind them are dedicated to help you experience what made those games awesome, rather then burn your wallet on Unbound.
Finally, people now see that nfs mw 2012 is a good game. I know that this game doesn't deserve to be named after legendary mw 2005, and if it was named nfs Fairhaven, it would be more copailing to fans, but I'm still love 2012 entery in this franchise.
EA is in the business of making money; not games. If it doesn't make millions of dollars within the first week then it is considered a failure. For EA, it has to make *ALL* the money by microtransactions, battle passes, season passes, skins and DLC. They have to sell an unreasonable amount of copies to consider it a success.
The multiplayer is the part that is grindy, and my friends consider the game the worst in the franchise because the garages are split. Or they don't care about the multiplayer and singleplayer has gotten zero updates. I don't hate the game, but it's rather flawed. Then again, I tend to enjoy flawed things anyway, since my favorite NFS is 2015.
one of the reasons why most people prefer the older ones is also cause of accessibility most normal people dont own a super computer to play games im still running a 7 gig laptop
NFS Unbound is a sleeper hit.. this dude promoting asphalt tells you everything you need to know.. we come across number rats you often. The concept will always be stronger than speaking fast over a mic and pretend u know shit 😹 The games obviously have glaring issues but it's literally not the end. If anything the games are blossoming. You find full lobbies of multiplayer till this date on NFS MW2012, RIVALS, NFS 2015 not payback, Heat is still active and Unbound is going strong DESPITE their so called public perception. People hated mw 2012, people hated rivals but theyve now come back to love it. The next release will be something. Please don't fall for doomer mentality
i personally found NFS unbound much more fun compared to other NFS games in the multiplayer aspect, since it's been getting a lot of support from the devs and they have added in a lot of nice content lately. i feel like most of the criticism for this game are towards the singleplayer, dialouge, etc, but the online mode is an absolute banger that everyone should try

my biggest issue with unbound is the separation between offline and online progression PLUS all the post-launch additional content was only unlockable in the online mode…. it’s like unbound is begging the players to go online and grind the battle pass :/
7:17 SPATNZ YOU CAN'T SAY THATTTTTT
👩🦽➡️
Don't worry he gotta pass👌🏾
They also MURDERED Alice: asylum, EA needs the Ubisoft treatment
7:38 I didn't stop complaining because I stopped caring; I stopped complaining because I _genuinely_ stopped buying games that do this, no matter how hype I was for them. The industry is vast and I can replace something instantly, I will not put up with this, ever. It's generally pretty easy to avoid as long as you just blacklist EA, Ubisoft, and Activision/Blizzard, from your sphere of interest.
I would say this
The police chases like heat were fun
I kinda like the facecam. It makes Spatnz feel more human while ranting like a human
Spatnz should bring back "This week on the Internet"
Need For Speed: please don't kill me, I'm innocent🥺.
EA: No, you're done, no more upcoming need for speed game next year.
GRID: 💀
the only need for speed game I liked was NFS:World.
Invest in shy guy masks, it would be funny.
1:30 "the need for speed games killed the game franchise"
*Immediately mentions asphalt 9/legends unite right after that (unintended but great example)*
Asphalt 9 promo in NFS video :/
Wow, what a great video!
I love NFS The Run. Unfortunately I can't buy it, but there are other ways.
Need for speed just literally just created an update based on the original NFS most wanted and this video came out
If you like arcade racers, you need to look into Split Second : Velocity, it's an incredible game that sadly isn't talked about much
Gonna wait 10 years when everyone's talking about how the Need for Speeds suck now, and games like Unbound were great back in the day.
1:48 Correction, you cannot transfer your progress on the following platforms
Playstation 4/5
Nintendo Switch.
Alt Enter makes it go into full screen.
holy crap I've only had the 2017-19 version of Spatnz connected to his voice. This is so awsome sauce
And with that, Need for Speed Mobile is their next best thing since they know the mobile market has huge potential.
all this makes me think is whatever happend to burnout?
The one time where _Burnout: Fairhaven_ gets a positive spotlight.
Good joke having asphalt sponsoring this vid
It’s just a niche game nowadays I cannot stop adoring Unbound, this new mode is genuinely some of the most fun I’ve ever had in need for speed, you can feel there’s love put into this so it doesn’t matter that it isn’t incredibly popular
Where is the shy guy?
for the record nfsmw 2012 ended up the way it is due to ea cutting down and rushing criterion to develop it quicker and simpler. theres beta versions of ps3 test builds that have storyline basics implemented, and a different vibe to the map, also starting in a bmw m3 gtr type grey e92 as if it was the successor to the original most wanted (which it was supposed to be). it also had garage menus and such where you owned vehicles instead of the random exchange throught the map.
Never did I expect spatnz to make an NFS video 😂
As someone who played competitive Need for Speed Heat, Unbound was one of the most disappointing entries in the franchise:
It just didn't work on release
The story is mid
It didn't get decent drifting until late in it's dev cycle
Multiplayer and single player don't share progression
The online is constantly under maintenance or won't connect
It's a shame because the game IMMEDIATELY prior to it just works and is good.
Is that a BLUE RAY GUN I see on the right side of the video?!?!?!?!
Hi Spatnz what's your opinion on Need for Speed Carbon?
I haven't had the chance to play the newer NFS games but Ican remember how much I enjoyed playin MW05, Carbon, MV12 and Rivals, what a shame...
Finally, people now see that nfs mw 2012 is a good game. I know that this game doesn't deserve to be named after legendary mw 2005, and if it was named nfs Fairhaven, it would be more copailing to fans, but I'm still love 2012 entery in this franchise.
IMO I feel like racing games in general are dying they're always either realistic racing games like need for speed or mario kart clones
The whiplash from seeing his face after such a long time is wild
Holy shiii how did we go from something like Need for Speed The Run to this?! Smh
i love unbound i play on ps5 the only thing that bothers me is EA rushing the criterion’s devs
Man I wish EA was like it was back in the early 2000s
for the 2012 NFS did you try pressing ALT+Enter i remember a lot of older games use to do full screen that way
I am a big fan of Need For Speed Most Wanted 2005 and think they need a remaster of it ASAP.
Not happening
I have fun on it. I love doing gauntlet races. Shame there’s only 6 of those.
Burnout: First time?
NFS HP2 on PCSX2 sounds like a better NFS introduction to Spantz. Oh, and uh... 2005 is the real MW.
2:00 ngl it kinda just looks like slower Fortnite Rocket Racing
It’s so weird to see your face speaking because I had just associated your voice with Shy Guy
one of the reasons why most people prefer the older ones is also cause of accessibility most normal people dont own a super computer to play games im still running a 7 gig laptop
I for the first like 15seconds thought you were playing a clip of a guy talking, I didn't realise that was actually you
that window type reset problem has been hapening to me on titanfall 2
Bro the autumn sale is on rn on steam and Unbound is 5 bucks, 15 if you want all the DLC. I'm commenting 2 days after video release
Unbound CAN be played without an internet connection since I've played it many times when I had no internet.
NFS Unbound is a sleeper hit.. this dude promoting asphalt tells you everything you need to know.. we come across number rats you often. The concept will always be stronger than speaking fast over a mic and pretend u know shit 😹
The games obviously have glaring issues but it's literally not the end.

@@Numbers225 let's gooo 2 womp womps vs 13 likes and an encouraging reply

thats the controls i normally use ?
I guess comparing NFS most wanted 2005 to unbound would be beating a dead horse
