China's nukes are useless. China's territory is not big enough to test fire their ICBMs over 8,000 miles for adjustment and maintenance. Only US, UK and Russia conduct regular testfires on their ICBMs for adjustment and maintenance because they have big enough territory and overseas territory to do it. So China's nukes are useless. Similarly North Korea's nukes and all other country's nukes are all useless. Only US, UK and Russia have valid nukes.

Works well enough in Israel that they can go about their day while rockets are going off overhead. Still not 100%But given the outdated NK missiles they should be easier to intercept.

The GBI success rate Binkov uses is significantly higher than what some others believe it is: 20%. So a salvo of 5 GBI’s for each incoming missile. If DPRK fires enough missiles, some would get through.

those defense reports as we can see now always seem to lag 3-5 years behind NK's actual capability. and seeing how NK is now building new ICBM subs, if NK can't penetrate US defenses well yet, it will soon with the hwasong-16 missiles

They have some of the best missiles in the world. They have an poor air force. No help there. They have lots of tunnels. And great SAM systems. If an power like China attacked North Korea. They'd lose. China is not equipped for such offenses. The United States is more equipped for bunkers and tunnels. But it'd still be difficult. The good news about North Korea is it can wage defense better than offense.

NK would never launch nukes against the U.S., they have no reason to. They are just a deterrent against a U.S./NATO invasion. Don't buy into the fear-mongering.

That presumably means that Hwasong-15 and beyond have even greater capacity and that MIRV will likely be available sometime soon.

I have confidence against North Korea, but lack it against China/Russia. (I don't think India or Pakistan could hit the US either, but that's more of them not needing that capability then not being capable of doing so, France and the UK are allies, but I think they might be able to do so if they are smart about it)
This system isn't designed to defend against near-peer attacks, it is almost exclusively for DPRK. The GMD system is more capable than you had mentioned, as demonstrated in FTG-11, but overall your analysis is pretty close. Good video
Not exactly true. It isn't designed to defend against a mass near-peer attack. It is still useful against accidental firings, a rogue group/coup firing some off, China/Russia trying some type of "limited" attack (say a show of force against a non-city target), if the near-peer power falls apart and some new lesser foe gets their hands on the weapons, etc.

NK nukes are not actually meant for first strike. The whole point of them is to say to the US that if they invade and NK inevitably loses a few US cities will blow up. There is no scenario where NK wins. But the US wont bother with NK if it can lose a few cities, they are just not that important.

@@daddysds1 Most of theyr sites are mobile and will obviously be guarded. Naturally the US will eventually wipe them out but NK will fire them before that. This will not be a prolonged war ending in nukes. Nukes will be flying within hours of the first shot if not minutes. The whole point is to deter the US from firing at all. This is also the reason NK has a hyper agressive stance since they whanna show they mean business and will actually do it.

The extra missiles can be equipped later in case the supply chain for making them is disrupted by sanctions while the warheads are still able to be made. Another reason to make extra, non-nuclear missiles is to function as decoys that will eat up interceptors, giving a higher hit chance with the nuclear tipped missiles.
I like that you did this one since it is a good breakdown. Japan and S. Korea both would be targeted in such an attack, as well as US bases in the Pacific. I do not think the continental US would be successfully hit, but even one nuke getting through would kill thousands and level a mid sized city with the reported warhead sizes, so it is still a threat. Big props for including Aegis ashore in the analysis and the satellite intergration the system has.
South Korea is in serious threat but ultimately there would be no element of surprise. We would either take them out on launch phase or hit the launchers before they could be used. as far as Russia you are right the US missile defense is about 80% effective a swarm of missiles could overwhelm it but only if the US has their guard down. Again if we know its coming none of them would get out of the silos. The subs are the only chance for surprise and short reaction time but again Russian subs are easy to track they are unlikely to get a shot off either.

And you can forget getting NATO authorizing any such move either. They can not realistically defend the Baltic States. Russia could grab them, and a rescue force would have to fight their back back in. Not an example of NATO flexing its muscle.

@@MrDanisve it's hard to kick the USA out of NATO when they would be most needed in a potential conflict with Russia and have been previously contributing most forces. But yes, in the future Europe needs to be more self sustaining and Russia isn't the big problem it once used to be.
That bring said, only the Nordic states alone Have a really small population and in the case of an all out war with Russia or annexation attempts would have to rely on other larger nations for backup.

Sure, could even dump out some fake MIRVs from each for more confusion. Later, when warheads are available, they can be retrofitted.
The single ICBM can deliver multiple warheads. That's what an MIRV (multiple independently targetable re-entry vehicle) does. A single rocket carries up to a dozen different warheads and can drop them on ballistic trajectories towards multiple targets. Some of those warheads can also be decoy warheads. So you might end up with a single launch deploying a dozen "warheads," and you have to shoot them all down bc you dont know which ones are decoys. Fun, right?

@@hphp31416 Actually when transitioning to MIRV deployment the rocket designed to boost them into their ballistic arc does not need to be proportionally (compared to the quantity of vehicles) larger. Each warhead is generally smaller in mass (not necessarily in power). Particularly can’t! Unless you can shoot down the missiles before they took off. Even if you hit the missiles before it hit the ground the nuke will still do the job.
It's doubtful any ABM system can stop 100 percent of a massive nuclear attack, but an individual launch of one or two missiles would be much easier.
If only we had a way to use antimatter, a super small, fast missile could vaporize an inbound nuke better than lasers.

They got from both, China and the US, this goes back to the Cold War when Pakistan was mainly supported by China together with the US so they could add pressure to India, at the time a major Soviet ally.
It was not until the 70s that China got really involved in Pakistani affairs, until then it was a stronghold of american interests in the region, and until the invasion of Afeghanistan Pakistan still received large amounts of economic and military aid from the US, from the 2000s the major position of the US as its backer got replaced by China.

2 as long as it has enough missiles and the impact point are close ~ 20-30 km to the launchers.
3. The launchers can be dispersed to get larger coverage.
4. The maximal target speed of the PAC-3 is 3000 m/s.

So if the Patriot has at least twice as PAC-3 in the right place as Iskanders the Pk is very, very high.
A single launcher can hold 16 PAC-3 and a single Patriot battery can control up to 30 launcher. Even the very old first Patriot had 8 launchers each with 4 missiles.
But the PAC-3 is much smaller 4xPAC-3 can be loaded into the plance a single old missile.
In the future only PAC-3, CRI and MSR missiles remain in service.

So, in short generally, yes. 10 Iskanders for a well set up and loaded PAC-3 is a piece of cake.

The PAC-3 is an ARH missiles therefore you can engage as many targets as missiles you have. It is simply hard to imagine such large Iskander salvo where tracking limit of the radar is the choke point.

It shouldnt make you feel that safe brother. Until these defenses are tested in actual conflict, we don't really know if they will or wont work. Also, missile capabilities are constantly evolving, so NK missiles could eventually become more difficult to stop. There are also plenty of russian and chinese hypersonic missiles that can't be stopped. We're not really that safe at all.

N. Korean nuclear weapons are almost certainly NOT a "first strike" kind of weapon. With their limited range and size, it is FAR more likely that they are intended as a deterrent against ground invasion. This protects the regime against overthrow by external armed forces. NK has not lasted this long by being stupid, and nuking another country in an unprovoked act of aggression would be unbelievably stupid. They might still fall from other causes of course.

@@missk1697 Well from retrieved mock up warheads it seemed that NK had some chances to do so around 2022-23 at earliest.
So then they might be a threat. But they don't have many warheads. They could use chemical weapons which they have since 50's and 60's. But given that they used chemical weapon only once and that was on very small scale - I don't think they are a threat unless you attack them and give them time to respond. At least not to US. They might manage to hit SK - and with their artillery they can obliterate Seoul and Incheon, but they had this capability for decades now.
It is pointless to design BM if you do not have reentry capable payload.
According to the latest CIA reports in late 2020, they have overcome the re-entry problem and their warheads are capable of re-entry from an ICBM.

The new tanks they have are an improvement, but they don’t have them in large numbers. Their big problem is their lack of trucks to transport large numbers of soldiers. Most of their forces travel by foot. Also their limited resources is a serious limitation. Their new weapons would help kill a few more enemy soldiers, but they would still lose.
@@danielaramburo7648 They dont need tanks in large numbers. The terrain in Korea is more suited to a light infantry war than a heavy mechanized one. We saw this in the Korean war where a mostly-infantry Chinese force gave a mostly-mechanized UN force a *serious* run for its money. Any armor in Korea would be used to spearhead a deep penetration; break the lines and advance to the rear, but bottom line, their army doesnt need armor to be effective.
