Hey everyone, I'm so happy to announce that in this video I'm playing my brand new signature CB-4 bass from Schecter!! It'll be released in early-mid November - exact date TBA soon. Thank you all for your incredible support in making this dream come true! Have a slaptastic day 🎸🔥
epic man!!!!!!!!!!!!! u used to be some random fiverr dude but now insanely famous keep it up next goal 10mil
I can’t wait for this bass to be released! Congratulations Charles!
It really suits you. Authoritative and articulate. 💪🏾
Awesome video 🤘
Schetcher makes such great basses and guitars. I have one of their 7 strings. Amazing.
If Charles was playing like this in the 80s, he would have been worshipped as a god. I hope one day he gets the recognition he deserves. I don't think there's a bass player that's ever lived that can do what he does
I think the only bass player who is even on a similar level is Davie504 because both of them are absolute beasts
@@o.Froggy.o yeah, he's good too. I'm not sure how good he is as I just cannot stand his videos to watch them. The first 3 were funny - to be doing the same thing hundreds of videos later... 🤮
Victor Wooten
ya'll never heard of wooten? He's the King m8. But I agree. All of them are on another level.
@@o.Froggy.oDavie is nowhere near Charles.
this goes so unbelievably hard, and the videography just tops it all off, its so beautiful
I remember hearing this for the first time a year ago in a video called “the most expensive strings in the world sound UNBELIEVABLE”. The nostalgia hits different
That is a gorgeous bass. Amazing camera work on this one too!
I'm 95% sure, this was recorded using a robot arm, like MKBHD has.
Like, a Kuka.
Kudos to the camera programmer.
The lighting makes the strings, the edge highlights, and his hair all the same hue...
you missed the "ist" ;)
Incredibly well done my friend! Congratulations on the signature bass!
No reply whay what ??
Edit- Big fan bro !!
Yes yes, btw what kind of is it?
@@the_asadun4328 dude did you find out what bass that is? im trying to find out
@@TorresAcores schecter
I've been playing bass for 20 years and Charles regularly inspires me to push further. This tune is one of my favourites
I too have been playing 20 years, and Charles shames me so bad I want to quit! Not really, he’s a great inspiration to many, and deserves all the fame and fortune that comes his way!
His tapping looks effortless.
That’s awesome to hear, the sky’s the limit!!
@CharlesBerthoud the sky is the limit and you my friend are a star, keep this up man because you are amazing. My grandma told me bass is just a backing track and that you can't do much on one (I just recently got my first guitar and she thinks I should stick with guitar) and in response to that I pulled up this video and she quickly realized how wrong she was. I love your videos, they always bring a smile to my face :)
@@o.Froggy.obass or guitar they are both great instruments. I play both. But I can tell you there are so many guitar players you will have a hard time finding people to play with. But if you learn to play bass or drums you'll find yourself playing with lots of amazing musicians.
I played guitar for 20 years before I picked up the bass. And though I am much better at guitar I regularly get paying gigs with the bass.
this guy has really opened up bass playing to several new levels .....my husband is a bass player , 73 ....and is impressed with Charles and humbled
I’ve recently been off sick from work recovering and recently discovered Charles’s videos. You could say I am somewhat addicted to his music now. He comes across as so humble and likeable. A guy that wants to share his passion and talents with the world and it’s so appreciated and the efforts he puts into his content is incredible and cannot be understated. He deserves all the appreciation he’s already gotten, tenfold.
1:18 "A Wizard is never late, nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to."
I was searching where I eard that
Its genuinely amazing how far this guy has come in a couple of years on the toobs. Rock on!
He actually plays every instrument you hear in the video!
If you watch the videos on his channel you can see how he does it.
He is pretty amazing.
Production quality level up!
One of the best bassists I have heard in my 57 yrs of life. The bass is gorgeous
Nothing more inspiring than a maestro playing masterfully with style, confidence and passion.
As an old guy who never learned to tap, but did slap a lot of disco back in the late 70's, I loved this mix that was heavy with the slap. You are reaching multiple generations I suspect. Well done.
Tapping isn't as difficult as it might seem, I'm a guitarist and taught my father how to tap and it really only takes a day or two to get the foundation of the idea.
After that it's just another tool in your arsenal friend.
We know what you old timers were slapping in the disco
@@Baas-je LMAO!
Thanks! Another excellent song.
You bring a lot of joy into my life with your music.
Thank you!! 🙏🏻
He's already made this song before right?
Yes, a signature song on a new signature bass! @@cabobpolasek2517
@Alexbuildsstuffyt Yeah thats right but he also did it to demonstrate something else too and now I'm trying find it
@@cabobpolasek2517 the collab he did with 1000 Rockin i am pretty sure that,s where it came from
Hello Charles. I've been listening to your music and watching your videos all morning. I have to say that i'm simply blown away by the musical talent many musicians have today as opposed to when I started playing guitar 60 years ago.. What I think is the most impressive is how people like you are not prodigies in the sense of you had this gift at 5 years old and by age 6 are performing live on Broadway. Please tell me to shut up if I'm wrong ... but I think through desire and hard work and practice ... lots of it. you have become arguably one the very best bassist of all time. I admire your ability and your selfless attitude in becoming just a phenomenal musician. Nothing but the best for you and your familty.
Love this! The signature bass looks and sounds amazing!
He is the GOAT, period
The tonal possibilities of your signature bass seem to be out of this world! Thanks for the drop!
That intro is so tense and its like just as soon as he is cracking the lid on that box to let you out into the song, you're kicked in the pants by that fill and off we go. Gotta love good music.
Don't know why, but 1:18 kinda reminds me of the LOTR shire theme
Agreed, the very beginning too. Was half expecting a Lord of the Rings jazz cover but it turned into something very different
Чарльз, ты же легенда ! Браво !
와~ 예술이네요 너무 좋아요~^^ 감탄 연발 멋진연주 귀가 호광하네요~^^
You're the Best and beast of Bass Sir Charles, God bless to your Gift and talent, many thanks.
Truly amazing. I can almost hum the melody 🙂You've improved so much since first hitting YT. Congrats on showing us what lots of hard work can produce.
Kinda reminds me of the 'Fungus-amongus' Incubus album. What an absolutely insane band they are! For those who only know them by their mainstream music... you are missing out! What I appreciate the most about them is their dabblings among a plethora of genres & the fact that no 2 songs sound the same! I mean EVERY song differs greatly. All of them are stellar musicians
That was great stuff on Incubus' part. I loved Fungus and Science. And yes, Charles reminds of that on this and several other songs. Amazing stuff!
One of the greatest songs to ever be played on a bass. I love your style, and I can see the Wooten inspiration! I absolutely love this and hope to play it one day!
Working on this piece now. It is currently beyond my ability, but I'm chipping away at it bit by bit. Pretty sure I can have this learned at at least 60 or 70bpm within a month or two.
All thx to Bass Camp!
The most funky bass playing in The Shire, Frodo would be jamming to this no doubt.
Excellent form and ability ! Perfect combo of natural talent and dedicated hard work to his craft !!
Thank you for putting it on spotify too, I've wanted to add it to my playlist for a long time
Thanks for waiting! I wanted to get this one right so it took a while
Beautiful signature Schecter bass, fantastic playing as always👏.....You are for me the "best bassist" in the world at the moment. Cheers!🍷
Over Marcus Miller?
He's undeniably awesome though
@@femmyemmanuel hi mate, Marcus Miller is an all time great.👍 If you read my comment, it says "for me" (which is subjective) and "at the moment". He's the best modern bass player. BUT if you rank them for the "Best Bassist of ALL Time" regardless of genre it would be different:
1) Victor Wooten
2) Marcus Miller
3) Jaco Pastorius
4) Billy Sheehan
5) Charles Berthould
6) Les Claypool
7) John Myung
8) Larry Graham
9) Stanley Clark
10) Flea
😉
@@2good2betrue3 hey man, I acknowledge the subjectivity of your initial comment. I was just curious where you would put Martin Miller in the mix. Thanks for answering succinctly.
@@femmyemmanuel you're much welcome matey. I also thank you for starting a good small talk where we can share our truthful yet subjective opinions on instrumental matters. I'm more of a guitarist than a bassist, but i play both. So I know "Martin Miller"- followed him for more than a decade and he's a great guitarist Right?...before I comment just want to make sure you are refering to (Martin Miller the guitarist) and not "Marcus Miller" - the bassist?
Ouh this is one of my favorites of yours! Glad it's on Spotify
WOW WOW WOW!!! Your playing is amazing and that bass looks killer. Thanks!!!
I'm so glad to see Charles doing content like this as opposed to his apparent home videos! Not that I don't absolutely love everything you do! Your stellar playing deserves stellar presentation! Love this!
SWEET groove! Wonderful transitions between different moods and feelings delivered with God-like skill! AWESOME!!
Love the feel of this! Brings me back to the first time really listening to jazz. Charles, you bring such wonderful music to our ears! Thank you!
I recently saw a Facebook post on people either love or hate Charles? I don’t know why and my only response is that he repeatedly encourages young musicians to keep practicing and not give up in a positive and reinforcing manner. For that alone, the only answer is love!
YAY! Just good music. No crazy video tricks. No silly outfits.
You do not need any gimmicks. You are far better a musician than the gimmicks you use. This was beautiful.
those snap pans around to different angles showing his fingering technique tho, that's epic af
Can I please have just 1% of your talent... Just amazing...
WHOO!!! YEAH!!
Nice & elegantly done 👌
Keep up the great work, bro!
Ngl this melody sounds so freaking familiar. Like im raking my brain for if it was a cover or sampled Soken from Ffxiv's work or not. Instant new follower my guy, keep jamming hard!
I was just thinking yesterday how it’s kind of a shame that so many of your original compositions only have their RUclips titles, these are legit songs that deserve a name like this one and Sands of Time, going from a video named by what kind of strings you used to getting a full spotlight with a title!
I used to play creative, innovative bass and challenge myself constantly. I am getting older and the arthuritis is a problem. I live on vicariously though, through players like you. Thank you for sharing your talent and innovation and creativity with people like me. I love your videos. Please keep em coming!
That videography was absolutely amazing
You always show me something new. ROCK ON.
Whilst not strictly into the style of music, I appreciate your musicianship immensely ❤
Mr. Berthoud this is unbelievable! You went from one of the world's best bass players to being that plus putting on great shows. Thank you.
I've been waiting all day
this piece finally has a name rather than "the golden string piece" (btw I think this one is one of the most popular ones and finally it comes the single)
Awesome song and great video! Keep raising the bar for all bassists!
The legend of slapping and tapping
This is so good and Charles is so talented but damn does it ever feel sad watching him do this without an actual band. Dude you deserve to jam with some people
I agree, but good luck with finding anyone close to his level of talent thats not already preoccupied with another band or project, etc.
@@ryanlaidlaw2965 agreed 🤣
Maybe he's just content with doing what he's doing. I imagine doing YT instead of touring with a band makes managing the whole work/life balance thing easier.
I suggest a jam with Tower of Power! PLEASE, CHARLES! Make it happen!
What this track needs, is a really good bass line.
That LOTR melody sounds so damn cool. Love it!
I kept scrolling through the comments to see if anyone else noticed!
What’s really incredible and interesting about Charles and Tim Henson is how effortlessly they transition from one position on the neck to anywhere else on the fretboard and there are no notes that sound “off”. I think Charles could make an OC-5 sound good playing the lowest notes on a 5 string bass, just incredible technique…
El mejor, y los músicos lo sabemos.. técnica impecable.
That videography just screams meme and I look forward to the Internet. Amazing playing as per usual sir
Fantastic performance and fantastic visuals.
Beautiful melody, funky groove...what's not to love here?
Did you already start to work on your first concept album to delight us with an emotional ride for one lazy sunday afternoon?
Because, if not, let's go!
It's exactly what I need and you might be the only person in the world who can deliver on that … with a beautiful bass tone as lead.
Killer filming and editing. (Playing isn't bad either!) 🙂
Even the cinematography has elevated. Nice...
Спасибо за видео. Вы звучите просто великолепно. Я поражен.
I like that you chose funk to go with this. Funk has that power no other style has
It's a great version of that song!
Lovin it!!!
Can't wait to see the wear and tear on this one. I like the blank wood on your main bass.
The LeFay is beautiful, and I've loved seeing that wear appear and develop over time.
that bass sounds incredible charles!
Sua técnica é única. A harmonia é perfeita. Vc toca com o coração, leveza e transmite verdade musical. Sou fã absoluto.
Thé Hobbit’s song
See this is why i love charles i even got his ghs strings
Youve got the mind of a teacher and it shows! The bass fretboard is in frame for as much time as physically possible to allow those following along at home to accurately tab along, while also giving interesting new angles to look at it
This is a 'how to shoot a playthrough' tutorial video. Fantastic all round! Congrats on the bass it, it's a beauty
On the crapper and can't stop doing jazz hands while listening to this
Mr. Charles Berthoud Ladies and gentlemen...The greatest bassist on the PLANET! Wow, great song!
I've NEVER seen anyone master a bass fretboard like Charles!!! You are unbelievable brother !!!!
Flawless camera movement. Perfect bass execution.
plus qu'impressionnant ...!
camera work and production goes absolutely crazy. bass is clean asf
A truly ethereal songwriter. Not many people are as good at creating a mood with their music. I feel like Charles knows how to control my emotions.
Thank you for your wonderful existence.
This is my to go to tunes when my body need a TUNE UP. Like a excellent massage to my ears.
내가 들어본 최고의 베이스 연주자
The guitar solo in the end could have been twice or three times as long, but that does not change anything. Perfection!
Man... I've never seen anyone go ham on a bass, it just blows my mind 🙌🙇♂️🔥
Musicality and technique mixed like new lovers, a true basserpiece.
Man I go 80miles/hour listening to this man soooo hot big shout here in 🇹🇿🇹🇿
Considering I'm smoking a fat blunt right now.....I too, am elevated. Love your work Charles.
UNBELIEVABLE BROTHER !!!!! ABSOLUTELY THE BEST BASSIST I'VE EVER SEEN AND HEARD!!!!
BREATHTAKING!!!
You the greatest bassplayer ever. n 1 compares
Before finding the channel, i never realized just how versatile Bass was.
Idk how i just heard of you today. Realiy loving your style. Very refreshing.
You are an amazing bassist and an inspiration to me. Keep rocking 😎
This is one of the most ear-worm worthy tunes I've heard in years. Chartes outdid himself with this one. Now... if I could just get it out of my head!!!! 😃
It's insane how he taps bass like it's a guitar. Let's agree that bass is the best
Incredible.
I LOVE IT❤❤❤
