You know when you said if I know what they think well my mum never answers me when I ask her so I’m scared the time I was lesbian I ask my mum what if I was lesbian and she said your not lesbian but never answered my question of what she think of it
@@bens2718 look, if your another one of those people that say they are christian (because i am christian) just because you dont support LGBTQA+ doesn’t mean you need to criticise other people.
I got the best outcome where my parents literally hit me with the "oh, i know", then completely accepted it and supported me. Super grateful to be in a situation where thats even possible
This is kind of off topic but I few months ago I had a dream I came out to my parents and she went I know I I said how long she said however long and then I was like “how I didn’t even know then!”
I’m really hoping for this outcome; like I have been flagging like I’m stranded on a desert island signaling for help. We’ll see how it goes down though
Literally my dream scenario, I have strict religious homophobic parents and I rlly can’t do anything abt it except for staying quiet abt it and not accidentally come out cuz I WILL and might be kicked out of the house
My advice would be just to be honest and be patient. I came out to my parent's four years ago and it definitely took some time for them to get comfortable with my sexuality but now my girlfriend and I go to dinner every week at my parents' house and my mom calls us her girls!
Something that hurts me the most is I gained the courage to come out to my mom and I did it on a car ride when it was just me and her. She did ask me questions, but she just wanted to understand it. Then I found out that she outed me to my dad, and I was so upset because of how ignorant and shallow my dad is. Even afterwards he'd make just- disgusting remarks about my sexuality right in front of me, and openly say the offensive words. And then he tells me that he isnt against being gay. and then last christmas, he outed me to his entire side of the family and I literally ran and cried in the bathroom. He talked about it as if it was a phase. All because for christmas my best friend got me a pan flag. And it hurts me everyday to live in a home with someone I know thinks that way.
I’m sooooooo sorry that happened to you! You seem like a nice person. I won’t pretend to know what you are going through, I’ll just let you know that there are people out there that might understand your situation. I might be able to, I told my sister I was Aroace then she outed me to my mom, who outed me to my dad, then they went on to act like it was a faze.
last year i literally painted the lgbtq flag on my bag, and i have like rainbow beads on my converse, and recently i was sitting down with my mom and i said "hey mom i have never in my life liked a guy". and i keep dropping small hints, but she never gets it😻
OH MY GOSH CATHERINE THANK YOU SO MUCH!! This is an incredibly generous tip, im a little lost for words! it means so much that you want to support me/my channel, i really really appreciate it. thank you again 🖤
I came out to both of my parents on Christmas day lol after visiting my family and it went surprisingly well, they just listened to what I had to say and they accepted me for who I am
@@Koda905 HEHE, I didn't. At the end of the day some adult friends told me it may not have been the best idea, and it was not that well prepared. But I did come out to her eventually (as pan and non-binary). Ofc, she didn't take it the best way, but we respectfully disagreed with each other, and clarified that this would not affect the good relationship we had. Well...she still makes me wear a dress to church, and didn't let me go to pride...and I don't think right now she would actually look for actual info on LGBT+ stuff, but at least I was able to talk it out to her, and now my shoulders weigh less. Ofc she doesn't let me do some stuff because I'm still 15, but I'll be independent eventually. At least I don't have to hide it when I watch LGBT content, because she already knows what I think. So it is not exactly a state of accepting it nor denying it. It feels more like we made a truce or something for some reason.
@widojay2048 Thank you! Yeah, we have a decently good relationship. We do stuff together, I show her stuff I like and she enjoys it, it's more like a "We don't talk about bruno" (or in this case LGBT stuff) type of thing. I know it's not exactly healthy, but we are planning on going to a psycologist eventually some day when we have enough money to do so (We are still establishing ourselves here in the US). With pronouns and stuff there isn't really any problems or anything. Mostly because we speak mostly in spanish at home, and my pronouns in spanish are any, while in english are They/Them. So for now we are mostly ok, we just don't really talk about it
@@Fai-Faiyou shouldn’t have to hide who you are or not talk about things due to your parents views.. I’m so sorry! Ur amazing and idk you but I love you!! Have a great life okay ❤
@@ange1.w4nn i think my mok figured it out on her but she thinks im lesbian i am bisexual so we'll flear that up kater hiwever my father is as homiphobic as it gets so i plan on coming out to hom when i graduate ir start college either that or never
I’m planning on coming out to my dad later today, when I told my mom it kind of just went over her head and she likes to talk to me about what she thinks of LGBTQ+ and it is almost never good, so I hope my dad is supportive Edit:it went good
About 2 years ago i told my parents about my friend being bisexual and they said that she was going through a phase and that she can’t know things like that at her age. And then they asked if i was gay and i said i’m not sure yet (when i knew i definitely liked girls) and they started panicking so i just took it back and said i was straight. I’m still struggling to come out now. help
I’m so sorry I don’t know how my parents will react the only time lgbtqia+ has come up is after the jojo concert when I was little my mom explained gay to me because jojo said she was gay at the concert so idk
I've come out sexuality-wise but not gender-wise. I've never even said my gender online. I would just like to say this: If you are comfortable in the closet or too nervous about coming out, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO. It has been stated a million times, but I came out before I was ready and I was more comfortable in the closet. Just remember that it's ok.
I’ve been bisexual for about 4 months now, I’m so scared to come out and now am coming out in less then an hour! I’m so scared lol 😂 I’ll update you if they support! :)
i'm watching this because i really want to come out to my mum. she's the only family i have (i'm an only child and my dad left when i was little and never was interested enough to call or see me so we aren't close). she's my best friend and i tell her everything and it hurts so much to keep something this important from her. she's an awesome person and the one i love the most. i've known for so long that i'm bi and i used to think taht she would be understanding, but i accidently came out to her once and she screamed to me really badly and then forgot about it with time. she's still 100% convinced i'm straight and i'm afraid to tell her otherwise. i don't think she would ever kick me out or anything like that but i really hate fighting with her or being in bad terms with her since i love her so much and she means so much to me. i don't know what to do because i don't feel like i can keep it in any longer. this helped me clear my thoughts a little bit so thank u
I’m in the exact same situation as you. I have no idea if I’m gay or bi as I do feel emotionally attracted towards women but primarily physically attracted towards men and I’m still so confused. I really want to come out to my mom, not because I have a same-sex partner that I want her to approve of but because I just want to know that she loves me no matter what I identify as. However, I’m terrified to tell her because I know she’s kind of homophobic, but I love her so much and can’t live without her, and I just have no idea what to do. I’ve been crying about this for so long and I just want my mom to accept me.
To anyone hasn't come out yet, never do it because someone else told you to/they did so you feel pressured to. I came out to my mum because my friend did it the same day and dared me to, but i never, and still dont, actually feel ready. So do it in your own time I promise it's much better that way
Thank you for the advice 💙😌I appreciate it. I only have online friends who are apart of the LGBTQ+ and are very helpful. They helped me figure out that I am Pansexual 😁 but I will keep your word in mind💙✨
My coming out was me just about to say goodnight to my mum but then deciding to tell her I like girls. It went so well though, my family are so supportive and I even have a flag!! AND OHMIGOSH MERCH I MUST HAVE IT!!
Omg, I needed this video so much! So thank you! I’m currently working up the courage to come out to my parents, and this was super helpful! Can’t wait for the rest of the series! 🧡🤍💖
My mom is very homophobic and believes being gay (she refers to everything involving lgbtqia+ is apparently "gay") a sin and i'm very scared to tell her, my dad i'm not so sure but i'm gonna make sure i check everything off the list and tell them in the best way they can understand, btw i'm coming out at pansexual, i'm just gonna say i'm attracted to humans regardless of their gender, and hope they support me. If anyone has any suggestions or advice pls share that with me. =) Everyone here is valid and deserves to be loved
Same.. She showed me an app she likes and it's where you take care of a bird, you can choose they/them as an option, she said I can't choose they/them or I would be in trouble.
I'm a 16 year old female and I am pansexual... I'm MORTIFIED to say anything to my parents. I did the mentioning it but not including myself and...my mom thinks it's a mental illness and it's a sin (she's religious) and my dad tho he's not religious he feels the same way about it... I'll probably tell them when I've moved out and can provide for myself.. (I have a younger sister 13yo and she's a lesbian she's the only person that knows my sexuality and I'm the only person that knows her's. She's just as scared and says she's probably never telling them.. At least we have each other) Good luck to everyone else who has the courage to come out, you are SO strong and brave and you be you no matter what ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Case and point, my brother outed me out to my parents. I came out to them as aro 4 years ago and about a month ago they found out from my very very conservative and homophobic brother that I was bisexual. My mum has always been very supportive but my dad not so much so my brother has been threatened by my mum not to out me to my dad. The guys an absolute dick. Good luck on coming out to anyone who reads this🏳️🌈😊
1:29 my advice: tell your parents that your friend or someone you know came out as gay or something like that then if they had a positive reaction you can come out to them, but if they had a negative reaction, don't you can wait for some time before you come out. Do it whenever you feel comfortable and safe.
@@randomzpro Yea I would make someone up. Do a theoretical friend with a made-up name that your parents have obviously never met before because they don't exist. Did I mention that you should make someone up?
Thank you this actually really helped me come out to my mom because I had to send this video to her that you made because I’m not ready to like have a conversation about it or something and you just made it easier for me and I appreciate you thank you so much
Hi, so I’m well ‘straight’ that’s what I thought until I started looking at this girl a different way…and that way being more than friendly. I continuously look at her and smile and we are always joking with eachother, she is bisexual and asks me sometimes if I like girls or something, the reason for that is because I always call women pretty or hot or whatever (which they are). And basically sometimes when she laughs and we look at eachother she then grabs my arm and laughs into it or she leans her head on my shoulder or a part of my body. I mean every so often we lean our heads on one another’s and we also hug quite regularly, we have lots in common. Alsooo from what I’ve seen she doesn’t do any of this with anyone else in the friendship group but I’m still unsure and like I haven’t figured out who I am or what I am and so I’m really confused rn cuz well to everyone else I’m straight but deep down inside I feel as tho I may not be but I don’t have a clue. I just wanted to know if you could help me figure out if this girl likes me… I kinda held her waist yesterday and like we were there for a few mins but just I’m not sure. Hopefully you see this, I’ve only just seen your account and I’m very grateful for it :)
@@willyouPLEASEshutup heyyy sooooo fun story I’m no longer friends with her cuz of like drama in the friend group and all that and she’s being a bitch and everything so that never worked out plus I started losing feelings idk why and now I have all these other feelings for this girl, she’s amazing, she truly is and she’s beautiful and is gay and is the kindest person ever sooooo that’s a little update 😂 tbh I never thought anyone would reply to this comment but thanku
Thank you so much for this! Have a nice day Lauren! Thanks for being my lesbian mentor and for making me feel like I'm part of this community! Lots of love from someone who isn't fully out.
Tip for those wanting to come out to their parents but are worried about how they’ll react: don’t say something like “mom, I’m gay” because terms like “gay” or even “homosexual” might have baggage attached. People can, and often do have Pavlovian conditioning around those terms. In essence, even if real disapproval of homosexuality doesn’t authentically exist within them, using those terms can bring out any unwanted and harmful associations which may be present, so you simply avoid labels when you tell them. Instead, what you do is just describe your experience to them. Instead of telling them that you’re attracted to your same gender, tell them about how you’ve never been attracted to someone of the opposite gender - again - it’s just a far less loaded way of getting the important information across. Tell them about the confusion that came when you were growing up and never liking the same gender that your friends did, and how it felt to constantly wonder if there was something wrong with you. Make them understand that this isn’t some fashioned identity, and the person they’ve known this whole time is the same one who’s speaking now. The only difference is that they know the truth now. They need to understand this. They need to accept that the child they loved this whole time was the same person all along and nothing has, or needs to change. If you love your parent(s) and don’t want to risk them, but you also feel like denying who you are to those closest to you has become unbearable, this was absolutely the best advice I can give to maximize your chances of acceptance.
YALL I ACCIDENTALLY CAME OUT TO MY DAD THE OTHER DAY... DO BASICALLY WE WERE AT RAGSTOCK AND HE SAID “oh u should get a flannel shirt” AND I SAID “that would make me look lesbian” AND THEN I WAS LIKE “I mean I am but like still” IT WAS SO FUNNY AND HE IS HONNA TAKE ME TO A PRIDE PARADE SO YAYAY IM SO EXCITED
All I did was ask in a hypothetical sounding way "would u accept me if I was gay" and my mom said yes so I just responded with" well good since in bisexual "
I know this is a year old when I’m commenting this, but tysm for making this video! I’ve been so anxious about coming out but I’m trying to write a letter and planning to give it to my parents when I have my partner round so she can just be there for me, this really made me feel a bit better and made me think of some things I can tell them, thanks again! :)
It was a quiet evening when I decided it was time. The air felt heavy with unspoken words, like everything around me knew I had something to say, but I wasn’t sure how to say it. My parents had always been loving and supportive, but this felt different. I wasn’t just sharing a part of me-I was revealing something that I had spent years trying to fully understand myself. We were all sitting in the living room, the TV on low in the background, as usual. I felt my heart beating in my chest like it might burst through my ribs. I didn’t know what had changed, but something inside me clicked, and I knew I couldn’t keep this secret anymore. It wasn’t just about them accepting me; it was about accepting myself. “Mom, Dad,” I began, my voice a little shakier than I intended. “There’s something I need to tell you. It’s kind of personal, but I think it’s time you knew.” They both looked at me, waiting. My mom smiled softly, sensing something was about to change, but still unsure what it was. “I’m bisexual,” I said, almost whispering, as if saying the words out loud would make them real for the first time. There was a pause. Just a few seconds, but it felt like hours. My parents exchanged a glance, and I could see their minds racing, trying to process the information. Finally, my mom spoke. “Is that why you’ve been so quiet lately?” I nodded, surprised at how much her words comforted me. She didn’t seem upset, just… curious. “Yeah, I think I was trying to figure it all out in my own way.” My dad leaned forward, eyes full of care. “We just want you to be happy. You know that, right?” I could feel the weight in my chest lift a little, like a veil had been lifted. “I know,” I said, the relief flowing through me. “I just needed to say it out loud.” My mom reached over and took my hand. “We’re proud of you for being brave enough to tell us. You’re our kid, and that doesn’t change. Nothing changes.” It wasn’t perfect. It wasn’t an earth-shattering revelation. But it was real. I could see the love in their eyes, and that was all I needed in that moment. We spent the rest of the evening talking. Not about the “what now,” but just about life-about what had been going on in my world. And somewhere in the conversation, I realized: this wasn’t just a conversation about my sexuality. It was a conversation about being true to myself, no matter what. The world felt a little bit lighter after that night. And though I knew the road ahead might not always be easy, I also knew I wasn’t walking it alone. I hope that story resonates with your experience or gives you a foundation for reflecting on your own journey. How did you feel when you first came out? What did that moment look like for you?
I just came out to my brother like 5 minutes ago and as non supporting as he is, he took it surprisingly well. Now all I have to do is tell my non supporting parents.
Keep in mind that coming out in my opinion should be personalized based on your family. For some families you should have a one on one with them explaining it, for some you can bake a cake or do something funny if you live in a family like that, and for others it’s best not to come out at all if your not safe
I’ve known I’ve been pansexual for 3 years now and I’m really scared to tell my parents but your like a second mom for me and you make all of your viewers comfortable sharing about themselves ❤
You know Lauren since I was a 6 years old they already knew that I was a lesbian and it was ok with them that iwas like this as long as you were obedient to your parents and iwas doing the right thing.its up to you do the good or bad attitude.for me I'm simple not to over acting person.👍🌈🇵🇭
Hey guys.....my coming out story is pretty bizarre and to be honest this rollercoaster isnt even over yet. About a two year ago i told my brother then my sister that i was bisexual. I came out to my mom with thier help about a few weeks later. She was great about it. She started asking me about how i knew and at the time i didnt know how to answer. My mom eventually told my dad about a month later. I never got his full reaction because i wasnt there. Anyways i got the courage to ask my mom if i could tell the rest of my family and my friends...all i want to be is myself. She said no. This was the down hill part of my life....when she said no it changed EVERYTHING. Saying no was like not letting me be my true self because SHE was afraid of what others thought. Of course i tried again and she said no again. This lead to my saddness...and my self harm..and my mental health issues. My mom never found out about any of this. Its been a year and a half and i was doing better....but now all of this is overwelming again. I wanna come out to everyone i wanna be myself for rea. (note that im doing a little better) i need to tell my mom how i feel but i dont know when the right time is. It dosebt help the fact that alot of times they say eww when a girl or guy kiss .....and no they havent forgotten i was bi, i think there just avoiding it hoping its a phase. I think im in love with this girl in 2 of my classes. 2 years ago we started talking and i adneadtitly fell 4 her. We was going to date but my mom said no....which leads to now when we c eachother in school. But she has a girlfriend now and my heart breaks seeing them together. What do i do? (thinks for staying till the end if u did it really means alot.) This is my coming out story and its still going on a long journy. Thank u fellow listeners. (also if ur wondering im 15 years old and a girl)
I wish you luck on your journey!! (From a 29 year old bisexual woman who hasn't come out to her parents quite yet) You seem like a brave a strong person, keep going! There is a bright future ahead of you somewhere, even if it's difficult getting there and it's not perfect. I hope you will find/be able to build a close support system in due time. Take care of yourself and be true to yourself, even if it's in little ways! :D Love and support from a fellow LGBTQ friend. ❤️
Ok, I'll be coming out today (or this week if I chicken out but whatevs) so I'll be using this as a checklist first. Thank You for making this video, it really helped ❤ 1) I am safe, as far as I know, they don't support the LGBTQ+ community but they'd never do something against me that would make me be unsafe 2) I am ready, I'm just scared 🥲 3) I've tested the waters and they usually say pretty stupid stuff about the LGBT community 4) I have LGBT friends and my girlfriend is really supportive about all this 5) Yes, I'm prepared, don't worry 6) Again, I'm prepared. I've been preparing for a long time now and I think it's time I told them 7) They'd never kick me out, but I DO have a backup plan just in case 8) THAT'S the main reason why I haven't told her yet, CRAZY things have been happening lately and I just haven't found the right time to tell her yet OK: I've already told my mom in the past that I think I like the girl that I am now dating. We've been dating for two and a half weeks now and my mom still doesn't know. That's the main reason why I want to talk to her now. I'll let you all know how it goes! Byeeeee
@@sapphicstatic_noises I told my mom that I was dating my gf and I think that I'm lesbian. At first she was very shocked (as would be expected) and she was pretty mad/upset tbh. I thought it was because I was dating a girl, but she was just overall shocked that I was just overall dating and thought it was the wrong time to start. She did say that she thought I was rushing me decision about my sexuality and said she didn't want me to "miss out" on any other partners. But after a couple weeks blew over, we both got more used to the idea and things and had a couple more conversations about it all. My mom still isn't supportive of the LGBTQIA+ community, or my "hasty" decision but she'd really supportive of me and said that the most important thing is that I find a partner who loves me and can make me happy - regardless of their gender and sexuality.
I feel my best advice to come out os tell your freinds first as they won’t freak out as much also watch videos from RUclipsrs that could help you watching Lauren’s videos helped me so much not only to come out to my parents but helped me to be so much more confident and open with my sexuality
I'm cis straight male so I literally have nothing to worry about (maybe my political views but even it is my choice) but I'm always been interested in different people's struggle including LGBTQI people. Keep going the good work.
I would always say something about rainbows and my mom would ask “why do you like rainbows so much?” And I panicked and said “ it’s cool and it’s easy to draw and remember!” I feel like my mom knows 😰
Both my parents are Christian, I’m Christian, and I’m lesbian. My mom I know is very supportive of lgbt and my dad is fine with them. My dad has said in the car before (this was in a conversation) “I would never want you to be gay, but if you are I would always support you.”
Thank you so much for this video !!! I already came out a few months ago but i always love to see all your videos! It's very very helpful ! Thanks a lot ! I'm lucky bc they're very supportative but it was hard and i was so nervous... I was'nt prepare at all and didn't want to do it at this moment but i had and have the heart broken bc of a girl and i was always crying... So they were asking why i was this way and i decided to tell them. I'm now very happy that they know it ! So happy and can't wait of the others videos !!!
I'm not scared about telling my mum i'm lesbian i'm scared because i know i'll get a panic attack cuz they'll ask too much too fast and it hurts when your mum says "you know i love you sweetie, i'll always be here for you" i just can't handle it....
I’m still getting ready to fully come out and, it’s tricky! Especially when you think your parents are gonna be mad, or not support you! Here’s a tip, if you think you’re not ready to come out in person, just text your parent! It will be a lot easier and you won’t be as stressed. Hope this helps, you got this! 💪
Thank you Lauren!! I was scared to come out as Pansexual to my parents but you made me proud of being a part of the LGBTQ+❤ I love your videos so inspiring!👏Continue the great content.
I recently came out to my whole family at a family reunion. I literally got on the table on told them all I had to say something important, I took out my bisexual flag and told them everything. Everyone was extremely accepting, except for my homophobic aunt but she can go f*ck off. I did use your tips and it helped a ton! Thank you!❤ Edit: I know I shouldn’t have done it at a family reunion but I really wanted everyone to know who I was. I also just wanted to tell my parents I’m dating a girl (_ _).。o○
I've wanted to come out for 2 years. I'm young and don't know how my mom and dad will react. But to all those out there that need this, no matter what a whole community is on your side. You have a voice. Im coming out soon, wish me luck and best of luck to whoever is reading this!
I wish it was safe for me to come out but it isn't. Many times I just wanna talk about my queer stories to my father but I can't so it feels suffocating sometimes YwY But!! I hope everyone here good luck! I'm cheering you all on ♡♡♡
I’m still quite young but a very big thank you from me. I am a lesbian and out to my sister, best friend and cousin. I was talking to my best friend this morning of thinking of coming out to my mum. She said to leave hints and if she still isn’t getting it, to tell her when she and I feel most safe to. I’ve left hints to my dad as well like watching queen tv shows such as the owl house and watching queen films like nimona with him. He even bought me heartstopper 5. If I were to bring anyone it would be my cousin. First of all because more than anything he isn’t treating me differently to how he used to. (Of course that’s the name with my best friend however she and I cannot easily see each other.) I came out to him and he went “yeah I figured that.” And we kept talking about the swearing fun cartoons we die at. My aunt is throwing a Halloween party the day after Halloween and I’ve decided to go as a lesbian character she might know of. And my dad must know about. My mum however I’m not so sure, she had stated many times how she’s fine with the LGBTQIA+ community. So I’m very comfortable to come out to her just waiting for the right time. She came into my room like 10 minutes ago like: “just me and you tonight kiddo! Finally the house will be quiet!” It might not be mama! 😂 🧡🤍🩷💜
i have some advice come out to your parent that you can rely on most and when i came out i came out to my mom first and she asked if i wanted to come out to the whole fam and she was super supportive.
Thankyou!!! This helped! I think I'm going to use a letter to come out to my dad, not yet though because I'm not quite sure his view of the trans community but I think it's like "they're not bothering me why should I care" so yeah but thanks so much Lauren!!!
I don’t know how I was going to come out to my parents because I’m already dating a girl, and I’m Bi. But this video helped a lot, I will think of a way to come out 😅
Lol I had been thinking about coming out to my family for the whole week before I came out and then on the Saturday that I came out I was watching TV with my brother and he started teasing me about liking a boy (I didn’t like him) and I was like “actually I like girls” and he immediately was like “so do you like (girls name) then?” (I did). Then I just went downstairs and came out to the rest of my family.
i watched this video before i came out as bi to my mom 2 years ago and now im watching it again before i come out to her as genderfluid she was really supportive 2 years ago and im praying shell be supportive this time
I finally told my parents I was a pan they were so happy. They bought me a pan flag the next day.❤ thank you so much for the courage and ideas that made me come out this way. I love you.❤❤❤(not in that way lol)😂
I came out as asexual like this: “Hey, mom! My friends say that I’m asexual, and I really am, so do you support me?” And I haven’t came out as non-binary yet
im really bad at eye contact conversations, i dont feel ready to come out that im lesbian and nin-binary, but when i am ready, il come back to this video
🏳️🌈❤🧡♡💖❤ thankyou, ive known i was lesbian since i was 7 and have always wanted to go by they/she pronouns. I have decided after years of keeping it in i want to come out today
I'm going to come out tomorrow but only to only my mom, bc i am scared of my dads reaction, every time i say stuff about me that he doesnt know abt, he always gives the same reaction, "no ur not" but besides that tysm for this vid it made me feel excites to come out ❤🏳️🌈
My dad has always used neutral language when referring to a partner to me, I've had a boyfriend but now in my mid twenties I've come to realise I'm gay. I haven't come out but my dad will still say "life partner", "signicant other" or "someone special" and its started to make me wonder whether he's always known. I feel it would be so much easier to come out to him than with my rather religious mother, but I wouldn't want her to feel she knew second or was left out, I'd want to tell them together. I don't know what to do.
Lauren, I Loveeeeeee YOuuuuu. Thank you very much for this video. I finally outed myself to my family as gay becuase of the courage I gained from this video: Thank you very much again :))))))
I can’t figure out if my dad is homophobic or not because when he is upset or thinks something isn’t good he says “that’s so gay!” But also when he is joking about me dating someone he always say boyfriend OR girlfriend. So I can’t tell. Does anyone have any ideas?
I would take that as he is joking around when he says "thats so gay". A lot of people use that phrase (obv incorrectly). Someone who is really homophobic would NOT say "or girlfriend". He might still need time to accept it when you tell him, but there is a tiny tiny part of him that is open to you being gay!! Which is amazing!
The things I’d include (if they’re applicable to you) are: 1. The struggle you went through, but also the liberating/joyful aspects of things finally clicking for you (with an emphasis on the fact that both aspects are an ongoing journey). 2. If you have a partner, tell them how happy you are with that person. 3. If you’ve had queer experiences before, these can be helpful to highlight (without saying who), especially if you’re currently in a relationship. This helps others to not jump to the conclusion that your partner “seduced” you 🙄 4. An emphasis on your personal sexuality can be helpful: i.e. you’ve always known you were not straight, what “queer” or “lesbian” etc. means to you, or you’ve fallen in love with this person who happens to be the same gender and it has helped you become more open-minded about compatibility, etc. I hope these help! If you’re safe and have a good support system and chosen family, I think coming out is totally worth it even though it can be scary. 💜🏳️🌈

Dream scenario
This is kind of off topic but
I few months ago I had a dream I came out to my parents and she went I know I I said how long she said however long and then I was like “how I didn’t even know then!”
That’s how my dad reacted but my mom is still in denial
Awwwww this made my heart drop for your romance.....i want this in my life. So cute
Love it! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜🩷
Awe I’m so sorry I bet your awesome
Omg I’m so so so sorry! 😢
My dad is like this too, I haven’t come out yet but this is exactly what I’m afraid of
I’m sorry you got outed like that, that’s just horrible.
I'm really sorry you have to go through that, I hope that you are in a better place now ❤
I’m sooooooo sorry that happened to you!

I'm coming out to my mom today at my own birthday with some friends from the church that are supportive. I hope all goes well.🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
how'd it go???
@@Koda905
HEHE, I didn't.
@widojay2048
Thank you!
So for now we are mostly ok, we just don't really talk about it
I hooe it went well

I've come out sexuality-wise but not gender-wise. I've never even said my gender online. I would just like to say this: If you are comfortable in the closet or too nervous about coming out, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO. I’m still scared to tell my parents🏳️🌈😩
i'm watching this because i really want to come out to my mum. she's the only family i have (i'm an only child and my dad left when i was little and never was interested enough to call or see me so we aren't close). she's my best friend and i tell her everything and it hurts so much to keep something this important from her. she's an awesome person and the one i love the most. i've known for so long that i'm bi and i used to think taht she would be understanding, but i accidently came out to her once and she screamed to me really badly and then forgot about it with time. she's still 100% convinced i'm straight and i'm afraid to tell her otherwise. i don't think she would ever kick me out or anything like that but i really hate fighting with her or being in bad terms with her since i love her so much and she means so much to me. i don't know what to do because i don't feel like i can keep it in any longer. this helped me clear my thoughts a little bit so thank u
When I was watching this video I realized that it was on speaker and my mom was listening, so... At least she knows..
My coming out was me just about to say goodnight to my mum but then deciding to tell her I like girls. It went so well though, my family are so supportive and I even have a flag!!

1:29 my advice: tell your parents that your friend or someone you know came out as gay or something like that then if they had a positive reaction you can come out to them, but if they had a negative reaction, don't you can wait for some time before you come out. Do it whenever you feel comfortable and safe.
That might actually be a really good idea for me to try. Thanks.
That's what I did today! My mom was fine with it so I know I'm safe now!
Just don't say someone's gay if they aren't... that might lead to an interesting series of conversations...

Thanks

It’s kind of personal, but I think it’s time you knew.”
They both looked at me, waiting.
“Is that why you’ve been so quiet lately?”
I nodded, surprised at how much her words comforted me. She didn’t seem upset, just… curious. “Yeah, I think I was trying to figure it all out in my own way.”
My dad leaned forward, eyes full of care. “We just want you to be happy. You know that, right?”
I could feel the weight in my chest lift a little, like a veil had been lifted. “I know,” I said, the relief flowing through me. “I just needed to say it out loud.”
My mom reached over and took my hand. “We’re proud of you for being brave enough to tell us. You’re our kid, and that doesn’t change. Nothing changes.”
It wasn’t perfect.

This video has made me not completely dread coming out. Thank you so much, this is so helpful.
My advice to people trying to come out: do so before you get your wisdom teeth removed... it was an akward dinner.
Keep in mind that coming out in my opinion should be personalized based on your family. For some families you should have a one on one with them explaining it, for some you can bake a cake or do something funny if you live in a family like that, and for others it’s best not to come out at all if your not safe

(thinks for staying till the end if u did it really means alot.)
This is my coming out story and its still going on a long journy.
I don't have any coming out stories but I'm glad to see the comments section so positive
Ok, I'll be coming out today (or this week if I chicken out but whatevs) so I'll be using this as a checklist first. Thank You for making this video, it really helped ❤
1) I am safe, as far as I know, they don't support the LGBTQ+ community but they'd never do something against me that would make me be unsafe
2) I am ready, I'm just scared 🥲
3) I've tested the waters and they usually say pretty stupid stuff about the LGBT community
4) I have LGBT friends and my girlfriend is really supportive about all this
5) Yes, I'm prepared, don't worry
6) Again, I'm prepared. I've been preparing for a long time now and I think it's time I told them
7) They'd never kick me out, but I DO have a backup plan just in case
8) THAT'S the main reason why I haven't told her yet, CRAZY things have been happening lately and I just haven't found the right time to tell her yet
OK:
I've already told my mom in the past that I think I like the girl that I am now dating. We've been dating for two and a half weeks now and my mom still doesn't know. That's the main reason why I want to talk to her now. I'll let you all know how it goes! Byeeeee
How did it go?
My best friends are all either trans or lgbt. My girlfriend used this to come out to not only her parents but her aunt and uncle to.
This helped for sure. I’ve been so stressed because my mom might be able to accept it but my dad is what I was worried about.
Thank you, seriously this has helped me so much
You're so welcome!
I'm not scared about telling my mum i'm lesbian i'm scared because i know i'll get a panic attack cuz they'll ask too much too fast and it hurts when your mum says "you know i love you sweetie, i'll always be here for you" i just can't handle it....
same here. I get anxiety attacks when too man yquestions are asked or when there's too much stimuli around. I'm nonbinary and use they/them/
Thank You so Much Lauren .This video helped me a lot .You cleared so much confusion in my mind. Can't wait for the coming videos
You're so welcome!
Great video. Excited for this month's vids.
Thank you!! And yayayayayya !!!!
Thank you Lauren!! I was scared to come out as Pansexual to my parents but you made me proud of being a part of the LGBTQ+❤
I love your videos so inspiring!👏Continue the great content.
I recently came out to my whole family at a family reunion. I literally got on the table on told them all I had to say something important, I took out my bisexual flag and told them everything. Everyone was extremely accepting, except for my homophobic aunt but she can go f*ck off. I did use your tips and it helped a ton! Thank you!❤
Edit: I know I shouldn’t have done it at a family reunion but I really wanted everyone to know who I was.
Finally the house will be quiet!”
It might not be mama! 😂
🧡🤍🩷💜
I am a gay guy but I love your videos! You are so pretty by the way ❤❤❤
i have some advice come out to your parent that you can rely on most and when i came out i came out to my mom first and she asked if i wanted to come out to the whole fam and she was super supportive.
Thankyou!!! This helped! I think I'm going to use a letter to come out to my dad, not yet though because I'm not quite sure his view of the trans community but I think it's like "they're not bothering me why should I care" so yeah but thanks so much Lauren!!!
yes! i qlso want to write a letter instead of talking because it's easier for me
I don’t know how I was going to come out to my parents because I’m already dating a girl, and I’m Bi.
Then I just went downstairs and came out to the rest of my family.
so cute♥
i watched this video before i came out as bi to my mom 2 years ago and now im watching it again before i come out to her as genderfluid she was really supportive 2 years ago and im praying shell be supportive this time
I finally told my parents I was a pan they were so happy. They bought me a pan flag the next day.❤ thank you so much for the courage and ideas that made me come out this way. I love you.❤❤❤(not in that way lol)😂
I came out as asexual like this:
“Hey, mom! My friends say that I’m asexual, and I really am, so do you support me?”
And I haven’t came out as non-binary yet
I don’t want anything to change, I don’t want them to look at me differently.
Gonna do this tonight
Me watching this knowing damn well I've already come out to my parents lmao
your videos are so amazing and give so much support :)))
naww thanks!
im really bad at eye contact conversations, i dont feel ready to come out that im lesbian and nin-binary, but when i am ready, il come back to this video
🏳️🌈❤🧡♡💖❤ thankyou, ive known i was lesbian since i was 7 and have always wanted to go by they/she pronouns. I have decided after years of keeping it in i want to come out today
I want to come out but every time I think of it I get stressed and nervous and if I'm alone I cry from the stress
What age should I tell them I’m 10 rn and I’m scared and I kinda wanna tell them when I can drive or when I’m 14 or 13
Hey! It's been a year now, have you come out yet?
I'm going to come out tomorrow but only to only my mom, bc i am scared of my dads reaction, every time i say stuff about me that he doesnt know abt, he always gives the same reaction, "no ur not" but besides that tysm for this vid it made me feel excites to come out ❤🏳️🌈
your videos are so supporting :)
Yay I’m glad to hear this 🥰🥺
I've dropped subtle hints to it like when my dad asked if I had a boyfriend I said "I don't think I'm ever going to get a boyfriend"
YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I NEED!!!!!!!
im so so so happy this found you then!!!
I’m planing to come out to my parents as aromantic this video was very helpful
Glad it was helpful! wishing you luck!
@@laurenelloise thank you so much
I was shook when my family said “hun..that closet was made of glass”😭✨ I love my family
This helped alot thank you sm 💗
No problem!! 🖤
Lauren, I Loveeeeeee YOuuuuu. Thank you very much for this video. I finally outed myself to my family as gay becuase of the courage I gained from this video: Thank you very much again :))))))
I’m so happy you made this vid! I’m tryna tell my parents I bisexual! 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
Yayyy! The first Video of the 12 Gays of Christmas. I love this Video! Can't wait for the other.
Eeeeee !!!! glad u enjoyed !
@@laurenelloise ok, thank you for your advice, that really encourages me! I love your vids!
The things I’d include (if they’re applicable to you) are:
This helps others to not jump to the conclusion that your partner “seduced” you 🙄
This is amazing also I want to tell my parents in bi but I think I'm too young maybe I will tell them when I'm 18-19
and thats okay! you can absolutely wait until you are ready, there's no rush to come out 💜
TYSM lauren!😃
