I am having such a hard time with this week. I am a beginner crocheter and was so happy to have videos to go along with the patterns (because I barely understand those). This seems to be the trickiest week and it has the least amount of visual instructions. If these videos are offered again in the future I would absolutely love if the full swatch was shown. I am beyond appreciative that these videos and patterns are free and it is still helpful so thank you so much. This week though is about to break me.
I agree. my question is why are we turning even tho we are in rounds i believe it gives the same effect. I have been crocheting since I was 12 and am having a hard time too. especially since the gentlejade and ladybird round and squigly like they aren't flat.
I wish I could see what you are doing but the stitches blend in with the background😢 this is a brand new way of crochet for me and it’s impossible as a visual learner.
Using these swatches does not work. Am I right that thr second colour row you are actually going backwards, so you are starting with the last colour, not the first one? My goodness this is shocking. You can't even go by visuals because even if you could see what she was doing with the white yarn onnthe white background, she hasn't even got a full sample to see what is happening. No idea about stitch count at this point. It's not even mentioned.
Fed up with trying to get a neat turn so going to finish off each row and turn then rejoin. Did manage to nearly get all the bobbins done but because I didn't turn the lights were leaning so have started again. Like you have done many cals but really struggled with this.
Oh my wooly word!!! Just watching the back posts and I am scared lol... Thought the front posts looked hard! I've only just finished week 3 and making my bobbins haha Also just realised that I've been using my tomato instead of ladybird 😭
Did manage to get all the bobbins started 20 dangling and coming undone. Really wished she'd shown a clip of that 😮 but pulled it all back because I didn't turn and it was all out of shape and I ended up with an ugly holey join
Cant see what you're doing because of the white background. Can't zoom in because it's too blurry. No idea what stitches you go into. No idea what the stitch count on each row should be. The pattern is unreadable. Totally frustrated.
@@emmaharrison3490agree! I ended up going thro and crossing out all the "extra" verbiage! I kept losing my place in the pattern and re read it so many times!
It's not explained well at all. Not a full sample so you can't really see what she's doing, and my stitch count isn't working at all in line with hers. Just dreadful.
@alisonhutchinson4123 I'm going to do the same. One side st a time. This has been made needlessly complicated. Not explained well at all either because you can't see what she's doing.
I struggled with this too. Is it in the first section of cream? One of the 17 stitches on the chart is a chain of 3 at the very beginning. This won’t help if it’s not the first section, but in the end I concentrated on matching the chart rather than the instructions.
I started this week at 6am. It's now almost 10pm and I'm about to frog it back to scratch for the 50th time today. I've achieved nothing and wish I never started. I've been crocheting for 20 years so not a beginner but this is a complete shit show.. Stitch count is all over the place, nothing adds up properly even though I'm exact, and it's impossible to work with 20 things hanging off the back. I'm going to just cut yarn on each row and sew in lots and lots of ends. I'm absolutely done with this. It could have been done so differently.
@@ReroluelisreI’m doing the lights as panels separately. I did a 64 stitch hdc foundation chain and I increase on the first stitch and the last and follow the chart. I’ll stitch them all together at the end, it’s going much smoother this way
But if you just stay on the right side all the time the workings will be on the back makes it much easier. Finding this week really difficult even though I've done front and back posts before.
Oh no, I think I used the wrong size crochet hook for the very first week. I had to switch to a No 3 after this week as my pattern was way too big. Will I need to unpick it all and start it again?
oh no! that's the worst! You might be able to shrink the project a bit by popping it into the washer on hot and either air dry or tumble low in your dryer. Be cautious tho! I don't know if you used the original yarn or different yarn but depending on the yarn depends on the care instructions. I've done it before and it worked for me, but it is still risky so if you are more comfortable with just restarting the blanket than i would recommended that. :)
@@kathodgetts910if its just the first week, redo that week only. you could use the previous week one square as a pillow case if you don’t need the yarn.
These lights don’t make any sense to me. In round 7, I don’t get 8htr in white, I get 7 because if we don’t work the before & after stitch when switching colors, it’s like decreasing. Round 5 is 11htr white, round 6 is 9htr white, so why isn’t it 7htr white in round 7? How do you get 8htr white???
It’s because there’s only 1 decrease. The original 2 lights that were added have the same number of stitches and the other 3 lights get an increase on each side. Not sure if that makes sense but I printed a picture of the chart and numbered it to help me visually understand
the lights are staggered in which row they start on. the light green one doesn’t start till row 5. I read your comment wrong. she has a typo on the video she means round 4 not round 3 so it’s light pink first and emerald second. if you follow the written pattern you will get the correct colors for the lights.
@@FELIX-xd5gpI've been following the diagram and once I realised the blocks at the end include the htrs in corners it's working out, think I've left my brain somewhere 😂

I’m really loving this pattern, it cheers me up so much every time I lift it up. Thank you Lindsey for a beautiful blanket 🥰
I wish you would have had a different background when working with the cream yarn. But I’m enjoying this pattern so much! It’s new and challenging!

Silly me didn't realise I need 4 of each colour bobbins for all 4 sides 😂
Me too
I'm really struggling have pulled back so many times and noticed row 4 shows 17 sts but patterns says 16 htr? Very confusing
I'm thinking of trying it one side at a time if I can figure out how to join corners that way

This comment saved me! Bobbins for each color on each side.
Am I going to mess up if I add another colour light instead of Emerald (and just use Emerald for the tops/cable)? 😅
No- it'll just look different than hers!
Why does row 4 on chart show 17 htr but pattern says 16? I'm really struggling and frogged so many times 😢

its the chhain at the beginning then the stitch in the ch space on the other side
Why do we have to turn every row my ss then ch 1 leaves an ugly join when finishing and joining to the 2 ch? Can I not stay on the right side?
I do my chain(s) first then turn after. But make sure you are doing the turn like it's a page in a book (not sure how else to explain it!)
Thanks, like turning away from you to the right, will try that and the ch before
can i ask why we need to turn our work when doin the lights please im struggling with the slip stitch into corner it goes very bulky 🤨🤨🤨
So that the coloured wool is at the correct side of the light when doing the following row. Otherwise it will criss-cross like the cream wool
But if you just stay on the right side all the time the workings will be on the back makes it much easier. Finding this week really difficult even though I've done front and back posts before.

Thanks for replying. I think I will just do it again. I’m still relatively a beginner self taught. I just don’t want to run out of wool 😊
No. Size doesn’t really matter with a blanket - it’s not like a garment which needs to fit. However, you may use/need more yarn.
Just carry on with the right size hook. Won’t matter much with a blanket.

I think its because in her smaller swatch there is only one light because of the size
