@@kylebanks haha I bet. I've just played through the demo and recorded some of my playthrough and feedback as I feel like you might want to see how someone reacts to things for the first time while playing. Should I just submit the video link via the google forms feedback page in the additional feedback section?
It's incredible! I've follow your game through the dev vlog and used your content to try and learn how to make that color shader. It's inspirationnal to see how you manage the development and community growth aspect of your game! Keep it up man! :)
The game looks phenomenal! I’ve been following these dev logs for some time and it looks so beautiful, its also been a great bit of inspiration for me as an aspiring game dev 😄 can’t wait to try it out!!
The demo was pretty stunning really! Far more choreographed and well structured than I expected it to be. I love how the beginning of each scenario had a cutaway cinematic to frame the scene like a Nintendo platformer. The music, the graphics, the animation, and the control for the most part was exceptionally great. My 11yo daughter particularly liked the element on the easter egg island after the main demo. We collected 4/5 of the wisps which was also just a bit more cooler than just walking into them as they fly off to a new location (though this wasn't immediately obvious on the first one). Overall it was really fantastic and the creativity of the puzzle elements left me wanting more, and looking forward to the main release. If I was asked to throw in some constructive comments I would suggest a minimap or an objective marker, or perhaps just a button you can push to 'focus' on the right direction/objective. I found myself accidentally backtracking a couple of times wondering where to next, and this was worse after closing the game and returning to my save the next day, it put me facing in a seemingly random direction and I was like 'uhh is this where I was last time???'. It would also feel more natural if the colour 'pulse' button was linked to the duration of the click/press even just by a little bit. I found myself click-holding for a longer pulse or tapping for a quick one when neither has any implication. Lastly I didn't find the rowing enjoyable at all, just a chore, but I refused to change setting in the options. I didn't understand how to stop the boat, or to turn on a dime.. so if I missed the pier/dock and had to turn around it was a small challenge to come back at it again.
I saw this video instantly went to go get the demo. Haven’t had the pleasure of testing the game before, but so happy i get to play and see some of the work you’ve done :) *also a great reminder I should do some more translations for the game ^^
Hey! I just played through the demo and i loved it! the only things i struggled with was when i got into the canoe before i was supposed to and got stuck but i blame myself for that. Thank you for all your hard work!
Just a heads-up, the livestreaming feature was VERY buggy when we participated in the previous Next Fest last year with our game, so expect that and don't panic if things are broken.
First of Congrats. You really work hard for this game. I'm gonna play the demo and I'll try to make some feedbacks to you. If I find a bug or something I'll tell you.
Oh something else I thought of too. Once you complete an island I really hope there are more objectives before moving onto another dark island. I worry that the game might be too bleak if the player isn't given a reason to stay and enjoy the colour for a while.
Absolutely, that's something I worry about constantly actually haha. I have a few ideas but it's not something I've really spent much development time on yet so any additional ideas are very welcome
Super excited for this!! However I don’t think I’m going to play. I want my first experience to be the entire game since I know I will fall in love and then be sad when I can’t play more. I will download and sit on the main menu to get that play time up though!
I've tried the demo but had some problems with my pc so couldn't send feedback from there. Some things might be changed. Firstly, During the first cut scene, the car makes the scene unrealistic because it should be more of an off-road car and the car in the scene can barely go off-road. Secondly, the animations that are inside the car cut scene feel very unreal. Thirdly, The dog movement animations feel a little unreal because it has a feel of floating. Fourthly, the boat movement system is hated because even though it is the realistic way but it is tedious to drive that boat, considering changing it to WASD movement would be much better. Lastly, The first scene of the game where you control the dog, feels a bit too long because you are just walking the dog around, although it is an important part of the story so considering making it shorter would be better. After all, regardless of all of that, the game is a piece of art and it would surely make a hit and a 95% positive review on steam, I'm a games developer myself and I know how hard it is to make something really good and maintaining it without entering the state of hell game project, Keep going everyone supports you.
1:09 The Hebrew translation is wrong. the letters are backwards like I would write English as hsilgnE. Since the Arabic is written in the right direction I don't think its a problem with the software but with the text copied into the text bubble. You should probably double check all the translations (at least with google translate) before publishing the full game. gl with the launch! :)
You did great! The demo is really cool. I finished it in 46 minutes. The canoeing part was difficult for me but that's because I forgot how to turn left and right but it was great. I can't wait for the full game
What's the reasoning to only having the demo out for a limited amount of time? Is it just so you don't have an outdated demo representing your game in the future?
A few reasons, but generally demos that sit on Steam permanently get stale, don't get much playtime, and making it exclusive to certain festivals usually helps build up a bit more excitement to check it out
Go check out the demo at farewell-north.com/steam and let me know what you think!
Congratulations!
@@neverendingweekend Now I'm so hyped to see people play through this.
Great to see the game coming along so well! ive been playing the betas and ive loved how its all come together so far!

Amazzing.. bruh I'll definitely.. play!😎🔥 Keep it up.
Lets Go dude I`ve been watching your devlog for a long time its good to see all the progress you`ve done!
Thanks for the support!
It amazes me how quickly you can say the words "farewell north" lol but yeah, will download the demo now and check it out :)
it's a problem, the auto-captions always get it wrong XD

Congrats 🎉👏
It's been fun to watch ur journey from a wonky concept idea of a game to a vibrant experience that feels alive
It takes determination to not just give up one day
Just a heads-up, the livestreaming feature was VERY buggy when we participated in the previous Next Fest last year with our game, so expect that and don't panic if things are broken.
Oh no! Yeah I haven't heard great things about it tbh, hopefully they've been improving it though
Congrat's. Good luck from now on.
Downloading this right now !
awesome, have fun!
Gonna play that either today, or tomorrow, but I'm really exited, eventhough I just found this like a week ago!
perfect timing :)

So excited for this! Cant wait to play it but do you have a twitch category for it?
yep! www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Farewell%20North

Feature creep: the game
But honestly this is huge for you im really happy you finally got to this milestone!
it truly is a lesson in feature creep, but oh well, i'm very happy with what it's become

That's on me, copied the language names from Wikipedia and must have done something wrong with that one
i just found out your channel so i am to late to play the demo😢
"community translator"
It reminds me of the game "Will You Snail" let's just say it doesn't go too well
Community translation is very common, you just have to make sure you structure the legalities of it properly.
noice
Shoot. I guess im not playing it. I have my final exam these days and it literally ends on 28th
ohhh nooo! well, school is much more important anyways
Hey Kyle, what's up with your hair? 😁
it just does what it wants.....
I'm sure it's gonna be great. Can't wait to try that out and tell everyone about it!
