A couple of things I'm thinking so far: 1. Very interesting that the Sellsword Winblades aren't the best from the get-go. I understand about the effect on the buffs, but I would have thought that for Gundyr at least, they would have been best. 2. You can actually grind Chunks from the Corvian Knights (2% drop rate). It's painful but absolutely possible 😊
It's funny to me that in both DS1 and DS3, the highest dps weapons ending up being some of the earliest weapons you can acquire (hand axe in ds1, broadsword in ds3) also blessed weapon my beloved, the mvp of my ng+6 playthrough
Yeah I was really hoping for more variety, but turns out one of the choices for SL1 runs is also the highest DPS weapon. Guess people are really tuned into what's good
I expected that he was going to grind for all the chunks with the Corvian Knight and was glad he either didn't know or realized grinding a 2% Drop rate for chunks this early was a good idea
I always knew that the broadsword was busted. On my first DS3 playthrough I noticed it naturally outdamaged everything else from a DPS standpoint and I stuck with it.
you might already know about this but just in case, something for your spell run. I found this while dicking around with a ranged-spell only run to get a feel for the boss ai/design and i was using the court sorcerer staff which is more or less the best staff and has a skill that increases spell damage by ~10% ; there's also the crystal staff that has a better skill which increases by ~30% and the way the numbers work out the skill buffed crystal staff is stronger than the skill buffed court staff however, the buffs can transfer: i held the sage's crystal staff in my left hand with the court sorcerer staff in my right, use the crystal staff's skill buff then cast spells with the court staff and the damage buff carries over. I never checked if this buff carries over to different spell types so that might be worth looking into
I couldn't get myself ever to sit down and crunch the numbers for ds1 and ds3 but after your videos I think I will sit down and do it for a timed no hit run I wanted to try
You should try using a hollow gem instead of refined gem. Hollow gem infusion will actually give you the highest physical damage possible in the game. Because it scales off Strength, Dex and Luck
@@mun_e_makrpsn1328 it doesn't plateau unless you choose to seek out all the upgrade materials before Margit, which is only necessary in a challenge like this
@@trevthedev6134 for a normal run through the game the twinblades are so good (DS3) and I have a feeling that Elden ring optimised damage might take a long time to work out...
12:36 the corvian knights can drop titanite chunks at i belive about 2% drop rate at base item discovery, so it is possible to get a +10 weopon right after crystal sage using the 1 available slab in the painted world at that point
Lightning broadsword might be the best against Vordt but for new players I would rather recommend the Deep Battle Axe dropped from a mimic in this location. It scales from nothing and cant be buffed but deals a lot of damage to Vordt even at +0. In the second phase you can even kill him before he finishes the ice breath attack
I kinda want to see a build focused on killing bosses as fast as possible, like no dodging high armor, iron skin and maybe a ton of stamina because of the lower regen. I'm not sure if that would actually make the fights faster especially on later hard hitting bosses, but I'd love to know for sure
had a feeling the broadsword would be powerful its a beast numbers-wise for some reason, never liked it because of the poor reach but its definitely my go-to early. was definitely not expecting a showing from the corvian scythe, even with a mistake in the numbers, i love that weapon but always found it a bit low damage. blessed wep is interesting, i never really tried it. would it have been faster with dragonslayer armor to like use a ice weapon like the irithyll sword and also combustion/a chaos dagger to reset the frostbite, or was that not really considered? thats what i suggest to friends who are stuck and the dps feels super high
Nah status stuff was way too complicated to try and fit in to the formulas, especially with how status bars are hidden from the player and start ticking down after a few seconds. It might be faster in practice but this run was more theory based.
You made a few mistakes in this video, but overall a good job. One of my bigger complaints is that you stacked deep protection and sunlight straight sword buff, but you did it the wrong way around meaning the sunlight sword buff overrides deep protection entirely.
Did I do that for a few fights? Sunlight straight sword goes first and then all the other buffs. I didn’t think I did but there were a lot of fights so certainly possible
The winblades still have the highest DPS in the game once buffed as long as you use L1 attacks which have a double hit. Never use the weapon skill with the winblades. L1 L1 L1.
They are up there for sure but I found they were below a couple of weapons (especially in the early/mid game thanks to the damage reduction you get with weapon buffs in the L1 hit). I haven’t look in my spreadsheet recently but Iirc they were generally top 10% so an obvious choice for a lot of people.
I got two questions. The first one is why you didn't use the dragon form? Is it not viable, or is it just a pain to get? My second is, would the crucifix of the mad king be a good weapon choice? I know it's the only elemenal weapon that can be buffed, and weapon art also buffs it I think, though it's random. I remember that weapon just having insane AR, on par with the lothric knight great sword while buffed.
It is possible to use, but the uptime on the buff really doesn’t make it ‘dps’ optimized, more so used for one shots or big hits. I think it only lasts a few seconds, but if you could get all your hits out in that timeframe it is technically higher. The crucifix is a decent weapon, but it’s pretty slow in comparison to other weapons which doesn’t make it as pod of a choice. There are a few more weapons that have innate damage that can be buffed as well fwiw; the murky hand scythe and dark blood greatsword I know are 2
I’ve kinda wanted to do a maximized split damage build and see if I can make it good. I think the dark mood greatsword can have 4 different types (which isn’t really a good thing, tbh, as it splits up the damage).
Yeah I was think they would be higher. Unfortunately the buff damage reduction really hits hard. Depends on the enemy’s absorption, but the double hit ends up typically dealing less damage than a single hit when using a similar weapon (eg a regular curved sword).
I actually thought farming for vertebre shackles was a lot more painful than souvenirs of reprisals, it took me multiple days to get 30 vertebre shackles and only a few hours to get all the souvenirs of reprisals. Also kind of disappointing how late you get rtsr in ds3, I don't really understand the decision to lock it behind dancer
I actually found someone to trade/invade for shackles, so that one wasn’t really too bad. Must’ve had 50 silver knight helmets by the time I was done though
Unless it’s different than Power Within it should, but only if oath of sunlight is used first. OoS overrides other buffs but not the other way around, for some reason.
Yeah but with the stats I had before Vordt a regular +4 is better. I don’t remember what the cutoff point is but it’s not too far above required stats.
Well I’m going with a strict definition of maximum theoretical dps as there has to be some kind of cutoff. I think sustained would actually be 2 handing light attacks as you get 15-20% more damage per swing which makes up for the slight drop in attack speed.
Oh so the reason you used 2h R2 was for the speed over 2h R1, not because of the damage itself.. interesting. Gotta experiment myself because I love stuff like this where I theory craft a build that is powerful in one way or another.
@@MrSuvvri it's a bit of both, to be honest. I think the 2hR2 is a couple of frames slower than the R1, but the extra damage (roughly 15-20% depending on the enemy) makes up for the 5% longer animation speed.
@@trevthedev6134Doesn't steam have steam input which means that it will emulate your DS4/Dualsense (ps5) as XInput and therefore work with fromsoftware titles?
It does but I don’t have great success with it. When I first got Elden ring, whenever I would hit r2/l2, my camera would just doing and I could do a strong attack for weapon skill. Idk why but ds4 windows fixed the problem for me 🤷
