Not gonna do these fixes by myself but nice of you to upload these... Just wanted to say, Altho the 407 is relatively cheap in price today, it has one of the nicest butt's shape ever seen in cars.. ;)
Hi Maddy ! Thanks a lot for your quite well done video ! A shame you didn't remove the all cardan. I have to replace it on my Citroën C5 Tourer (same engine) for the first time and I wonder if I shall be able to replace the seal. And well done, you stay really clean despite the grease and dirt all around. Pierre, from La Rochelle, France
I understand, this video is for educational purposes only. In real life this should be done with cleanliness of a surgical operating theater. Clean tissues, clean hands, clean gloves, clean tools. Never-ever apply grease with dirty fingers. Flush and rinse the joint interior with commercial solvent, as extraction benzine doesn't really work fine on C.V. joint grease. Do it thoroughly, because the better you clean the joint interior, the longer it will run.
That is exactly how it should be done, so after watching his video on how to remove it etc, I got my cv joint out, completly clean it out of everything got all inspected, put fresh grease on cleaned surface and fit it back in. Ended up with much better result, but video helped a lot
Again a fine instructive video, could be a little shorter only, speed upp the tightening of bolts and other not so importent sessions, but one can also fast forward those sessions😊
Very useful mate, thanks. One question, what is the difference between this joints and the one in Citroen c5 2010? I see on the forums that u can’t do it in c5 and don’t know why, cars are very similar.
Hi mate prity sure you can do exactly same things in C5 as you mention cars mechanically identical only shock absorbers is different if you have a hidropneumatic suspension. I think citroen c5 comes with hidraulic suspension and without so if it has a hidraulic then maybe something is different but If it doesn't then should be identical and even things like cv joins should be same.
@@Mad4FrenchCars its the standard suspension. I changed both wishbones this weekend and realised that rubber cover on the cv joint is completely broken, need to replace it next week. Thanks a lot for your answer 👍🏼
@@LDZTomek my pleasure mate glad you find it use full. You can just get a universal cv boot, remove cv joint change boot and grease and put it back on again.
@@Mad4FrenchCars I purchased a Toledo stretcher to replace my CV joint boot. It cost me A$200 for the stretcher. I wish that I had watched your video before I purchased the stretcher (it needed a compressor and hoses which I also needed to purchase). Still, it was cheaper than getting a mechanic to do the job, and now I know what and how to do it myself. If I need to replace boots again, I'm going to try to knock the CV joint apart like you have done (on my Citroen C5). P.S., I think that you need new drop links, too! That lower ball joint looks too loose!
Hey french car god, I've followed your other videos to success but I need to do the inner front boot. I think it should be the same right? I could leave it attached to the gearbox and fit the inner boot from the outer shaft (and just replace the outer boot for fun while I'm in there), right?
If you talking about gearbox side then yes you can do it that way but you are very likely to pull a drive shaft out on a gearbox. But if you ask me if its doable without pulling it out then yes it is. Need to take outer cv join off then undo clamps from inner boot and slide it carefully down a drive shaft. Put a new one in and put a new boot preferably for cv joint and nock back cv joint on a driveshaft. If you have done other things to success then I believe with a bit of care you can manage to do it without spilling your gearbox oil out. I believe in you.
This is not even big job. I would say big jobs would be cluch and cambelt. This video shows you how to change cv join and cv boot. I check my car myself but for most of people you only do it if it comes on mot as advisory or you start to hear cv join clicking on turns.
Peugeot 407 gear engadge to D but car is not moving....and some sound like metal to metal grinding at the driveshaft that attached to the gear box...same goes to R position...Do you have any idea what is the cause?...tq
Help.. i wana ask.. for my 407 2.0 hdi i start car n go..and evrything is OK engine work ok drive power ok.. but sometimes ones in 2-3 weeks or mounth i start and engine works rough more loud then usual..like some older diesel when push gas. And make smoke when push pedal gas little. Maybe ventilator knows to turn on in that situation of work.. and after couple of drives with stops n shut downs engine then after some hours or 1 day.. start n everything is normal... 💁♂️ (sometimes know to turn on check engine..storring emission sistem)
EGR valve, might not fix all the symptoms, but atleast some. Just fixed one car from smoking and stalling randomly just by replacing that thing. Good luck.
Is this plastic or rubber boot? I have got a citroen c5 and they give me a plastic boot as the original part. What do you think which is better? Plastic or rubber?
As thorough a video as I have ever seen.. Keep up the good work mate.. Thanks
Thank you mate I am glad you liked it.

Hi, i need to replace the supportbearing on this driveshaft, is it enough space as you show to pull the whole axel out? ( 407 SW HDI 2007)
My 407 sw is super reliable.
157,000 trouble free miles and only regular servicing and tyre changes needed

I always use a rubber and i believe original is also rubber just much more durable harder rubber
Dude i need to know how to refil gearbox oil . 2.0 rfn engine , 5 manual gearbox
hi mate what car is it I remember citroen Xsara had this engine. whats your car ?
Beau travail
Thank you mate
Great tutorials, camera angles, good job. But I've never seen so much rust on a French steel, especially not on a 407?
Нижнюю гайку нужно затягивать в рабочем положении подвески под нагрузкой, иначе порвёт Нижний сайлентблок
👍🍺
Doing it right now xD
Good luck.
Awww damn it, I should've bought the 35mm instead 36mm
Its ok 36mm will do the job
thank you
