    About the new version
    ===================
    This is a big update, apart from making many improvements and bug fixes, this time I'm also focused on
    new animation for Cody and Guy. This update bring new mechanics to the game, adding a bit of a modern twist.

    ​I watched most of your video, and I'm very impressed. I played a bit just now and I noticed that you paid attention to the playability, which is very reminiscent of the original Final Fight. The enemies' behavior is also well-crafted; many OpenBOR games focus only on players and neglect the enemies. By behavior, I mean how the enemies decide to attack or avoid the player, as well as how they approach or retreat. I'm not sure if you had to use scripts for this, but anyway congratulations!
    I was searching for a good OpenBOR game to play today, and I came across your release. I plan to record a playthrough video, but before that, I need to practice more. Thank you for this wonderful gift to the community Romeo!

      @danchavyn Thank you so much 😇 Yes I have a lot of unused sprites (cancelled animations) because of this, I need everything fit with the original version (not excessive), for enemies you see it very carefully I am using script for some of their moves, their walk, they must have differences each others. I still want to improve this in the future. I'll be there watch your videos, this is what I usually do to learn how people play my game

    Congratulations on your latest release! 😎👍 When playing on my Android phone, and I get to the time attack stage in arcade mode, the game crashed. I reloaded the game and after it said Start, the controls were messed up, I was playing as Guy and could only do his crouching kick. I was able to get Cody as player 2 but could only do his special. Also, when P1 Guy's health bar was completely red it stayed there even when hit by an enemy. And P1 wouldn't lose a life when the timer hit 0. I eventually made it to where the 2nd half of the level loads and everything went back to normal.

      I do have new script in Time Attack stage maybe it causing the crash. Can't promise but I'll ask forum and look to android map controls. I also using new script for lives count for Player2. Thank you so much for your feedback.
      Do you have register on ChronoCrash forum? I once read there how to get a proper mobile port of my game however This can only be done in games that have a lot demands.

      @@MachokRomeo Maybe it's a matter of my system, in some stages the music didn't play and shortly before entering the last boss, after going up the elevator, on the terrace, some enemy got stuck and wouldn't let me move forward, I had to restart but The good thing is that the scenario has already advanced (01:42:30 of the video on my channel)

    Thank you for being open to feedback. Mean a lot. hugs. You really have a solid project here! Since you are asking for what to tackle next (Maki or Haggar) I think Haggar should definitely be next. Finish out the OG crowd before moving on to extra characters. Also, that's a good debate. Stay away from the temptation of adding OTHER FF2 or FF3 characters. Maki is fine since she is canon. But Carlos and others would feel, well, weird and amateurish. The best candidates for new characters are pretty obvious: Hollywood and maybe an Andore.
    Stay away from making the bosses or ALL the enemies into playable characters. Again, that is the reason why SORX gets so much hate from the community. Less is more, if you know what I mean?? Once you got this base game down, I think a better thing to tackle are the problems that plague the original FF. Like the issue with monotony. Giving all the playable characters new moves DEFINITELY helps with that. But now that the levels are extended (which I love btw) the game feels all the more monotonous. I think added a couple of a new enemies here and there is welcome, and would fix this. Like adding Bill and Sid would add some variety given they are Roxy and Poison clones anyways. streetfighter.fandom.com/wiki/Billy_and_Sid And maybe a couple of others, possible taking a some villains from Saturday Night Slammaster and turning them into mooks. You don't need to add many new enemies, just a few. But I'm betting Don Vecta would be a good one to get advice on that. And again, hoping this feedback is still welcome. This is looking great so far!! Can't wait to see some more of this down the road as it evolves. hugs

      Me and Don vecta actually had pretty big plans, like going into put episode 2 (converting all FF2 stage to cps1)
      but that way the enemy also has to be from ff2, otherwise it will be boring. The problem is I can't convert all ff2 enemies to cps1 by myself so we are postponing this plan for the time being.
      for me, adding enemies as playable characters means I have to add a special story for them, we have their story from FF revenge for example so don't worry I won't include them randomly.

      @@MachokRomeo Cool thoughts! And starting small to see how people respond, like adding Billy and Sid for instance, which are simple palette changes that would require some sprite work (given the scaling issues) might add some much needed variety. Since you are already expanding the game’s levels, there’s no harm experimenting with the enemies a bit I think. As long as you don’t get carried away, of course. Just for thought since as much as love FF it wasn’t a perfect game, and it could use all the help it needs (hence why I’m in love with your work!)

      @@MachokRomeo That would be cool. And you probably don’t need to replace Roxy or Poison. Who is to say they aren’t in the same gang? Just a thought. Would be cool to see them fighting together.

      Thank you! I just watch entirely your playthrough, really sorry the manual instruction for new animations isn't ready I am still working on it with NED (momotaro).
      For super move (guy and cody): while grabbing enemy, press Down, Up + Special [cost 1/4 health]
      I cancelled Cody Air jump ATK but i replace it with other moves. You forgot to use chargeAttack, holds attack 2 seconds. You can combine other moves with this one to get more damage.

      I didn't know there was a super combo...LOL I was producing that kick with a boost, a jump and then S. The unlimited fighting possibilities definitely had the fans in awe of anticipation.

      Not super combo actually, it's more like a super move. Cody doing zonk knuckle for example hope you'll like it.
      Yeah I am planning Guy and Maki are ninja style with air combos, Cody more to survival and lots of interaction with surrounding, for future maybe like throwing kicking drumcans to attack enemies and Haggar for Pro wrestler moveset.

    Saw the 3.7 update! Looks so much better without those loading screens. 🥳 Again.. this is top shelf! A contender for one of the best openbor games ever. However, what's interesting about this experiment is what is says about the original game. Which was a classic albeit a very flawed one. Giving the players extras moves certainly helps. And the extended levels look great! But somehow the extended levels make a problem with the original Final Fight a bigger problem now: namely its monotony. A simple fix would be to have new and varied enemies. But the trick is staying canon. A lot of us don't think FF2 or FF3 is canon. They are just lousy games. Taking enemies from Captain Commando (which is canon in the Final Fight universe) or even characters from Saturday Night Slam Masters or other Capcom fighting games could be one solution. Of course, don't take the futuristic ones from those games. And any new enemy with sprites from other games would have to be redrawn and reproportioned to fit this game. An easy addition could be the make handcuff punks from the SNES Final Fight (i.e.Sid and Billy). Would be cool to see them fight next to Roxy and Poison, as part of their gang or something. Also, giving the bosses more moves is now a must since you can't give the players more moves and neglect them too much (makes us overpowered). Just my 2 cents here. Game is looking fantastic so far! Are new enemies a possibility here? To spice up the game and give it more variety?

      I avoid including enemies from other games even if it's a cps1 game, not ruling it out completely but definitely not for now, for billy and sid will go to the next experiment and If my sprite result is good I will try to include them.
      I'm more interested to including all enemies from ff2 and ff3 but at a later time.
      As for new Bosses animation, it will be considered after Haggar and Maki are finished 😊

      @@MachokRomeo Another possibility too is simply variants of existing enemies. That would add variety. Since you are adding custom levels, custom enemies aren't out of the question. I always thought a white Hollywood would be cool. Or even more Andores with different colors might be fun (like Cousin Andore?). Don Vecta seems like a good guy to bounce those ideas off of. Just a thought. The 30th Anniversary version of FF seems to work well with different color enemies of existing enemy types. Maybe you and Don can get creative and add a few here or there, maybe with different names or even moves. Maybe a white Hollywood throw vials of acid. You guys could have fun with that, etc

      @@MachokRomeo Yeah, you could totally have fun with that 😁 Maybe an Andore variant with a mustache or goatee if the sprite work isn't too difficult. Or imagine a female Andore named Andette?🤪Again, more sprite work you may not have the time or desire to do. Just throwing out fun ideas.

    Played this some more!! Wow, really good update. If you aren't tired of my suggestions yet (haha) another thought I had was with the music. Capcom released an official upgraded CD track on the Sega Genesis which is simply fantastic. And a lot of us use that soundtrack even on the FF arcade 35th edition game hack. The music you chose here is nice, and I'm curious where it came from since I don't think it is the original arcade OST. Is it? However, since Capcom did officially release the upgraded music in the Sega version, you should consider making it the default track on your game. Maybe you can also allow for the other lesser quality music as an optional selection in the menu screen. And I know that some of that is a matter of taste. But after listening to ALL the soundtracks out there, there's really no comparison. It's obvious to see why the Sega CD music fits so well. Brings the game more in line with Capcom's more cinematic games like Strider. And, again, hopefully there's a way to allow the purists to choose older sounding music if they want to. But since you are basically enhancing this game in every way, I figured why not the music as well since Capcom already did you a solid and enhanced the music for you? Food for thought.

      @@MachokRomeo Sorry for my bad English. What I meant to say is that the Final Fight CD is Capcom's attempt to remaster their old arcade music. It is basically the definite version. If you sped it up the beat of the Sega CD version, that might be cool too.

      @@MachokRomeo yeah! It's really good!! P.S. I noticed that you are using a different song for the Edie E nightclub level. It sounds like something other than the Sega version. Personally, that's the best Sega CD track IMHO. Kinda miss that. The women singing in the background really make it rock. Just my 2 cents, but the Sega CD song for that level really elevates the game into something special, that almost feels like a movie.

      Thank you 😇 we do have special moves for Guy and Cody. When grabbing enemy press Down, Up + Special. It's cost about 1/4 health and do 45-50 damage to enemy

    My set up crashes before the Sodom fight but I'm hoping V3.7 fixes it. Edit: Yep, I can get to the Sodom fight now with V3.7! How do you save a game?

      save is automatic. When you exit the game and next time back to play it check on load games

      @MachokRomeo We let player 2 die and entered the Sodom Arena just with player 1 to proceed and then player 2 re-entered play! Whatever works hey? Thanks for the clarification with the save states! Great game! 👍

    This is turning out great!! But get rid of the awful loading and splash screens between levels. It completely breaks immersion here, and reminds us we are playing a mod of sorts, when this is good enough that it feels like a true arcade expansion. SORX also does that, and it’s one of the many reasons why it’s not all that popular.

      Thank you really appreciate it, about the screen between levels you mean loading background? for temp solution you can delete these two lines:
      loadingbg 1 113 205 91 2000 2000 0
      loadingbg2 1 113 205 91 2000 2000 0
      They are in Levels.txt

      @@MachokRomeo Yeah! Just cut to black. Only PC games use loading screens anyhow. And it is so brief here that it feels like a glitch. P.S. Since you are doing such a good job of preserving that nostalgic arcade feel here you should stick with that! Thanks for considering my feedback. Funny how a tiny detail makes such a difference, but it does.

      @@theIivingdead sadly we don't have full black I just try it. The options are, black with loading text (default) or black with yellow bar.
      Ofcourse your feedback is always welome, you're supporting my game since a long time.

      when doing jump attack keep hold the ATK button then press Jump near the fallen enemy. Easier to do with Guy since he move faster than Cody.
      Sorry for this I am still working on manual right now, will show every new animations.

    Hey there. Whatever you do...please do NOT make the playing area bigger. Do not go widescreen. The best part of your mod is how close it is to the arcade. Perfect in fact. That's actually why most opener games suck. It's also the major reason why SORX is so terrible. It's not really anything people truly want with a Final Fight game, let alone most fighting games. TMNT is really the only exception there. But outside of that less is always more. And I don't think it is a coincidence that the maker of SORX is pushing you to do it. Nothing against him personally, but he doesn't get it. Some games are sublime. And there is something about the framing of Final Fight that makes is timeless. Start messing with that and you ruin the game, period. Your game is that rare example of modding as game preservation. Just my 2 cents.

      I never said to go widescreen, for 3 players mode yeah it would make more sense on a wide screen but I still don't like having to change the HUD and so on so as for now I'll keep the default

      @@MachokRomeo Good to hear. And changing the hud would change the tone of the game. FF was simply made as a two-player game. For people wanting 3 players, there is always the arcade hack out there which is pretty good. Cheers

    We tried a lot but couldn't create a single air combo with Cody. It might be too hard for us.
    On the other hand, we really liked the aerial grabbing of the opponent and smashing into the ground. Maybe it should be made a little easier to implement. It looks great.
    Also the low back cut [A+J] is very effective and very attractive. Is there an easier way to do it?

      Cody air combo are cancelled.
      Air grabs are easier to do while running. I'll think about backattack
