I loved playing Sagat and Vega on This version of SF...I got my ass handed to me by my mom when she found out I was cutting classes and hanging out at the arcade all day....
When did this version come out on Arcade? Am I missing something. I remember Super Street fighter 2 Turbo on Arcade before it came out for Sega Saturn. But I don't ever remember Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo Hyper fighting. I remember only 2 Arcade games with an Akuma playable character, SSF2Turbo and Xmen: Children of The Atom. At least before Alpha and all the other iterations of Street Fighter.
Why do so many hate this character so much? He could be beaten by speed, agility, and feinting, but so could everyone on the game. But his high and low fire plus his uppercut/lunging knee were amazing!

Bait them with a move that attempts to get them to lunge; they miss, then you counter...That or time them right before they can land an attack. On Sagat, you have to slowly get close and then do what I said...
The one thing about playing versus battle in arcades that I won't miss is putting In quarters/tokens to play and all your opponents keep picking the same characters.

Arcades stopped getting new games in my area soon after that because they couldn't compete with Playstation.
This was still a good game but I preferred the old art style, moves and sound effects of sf2 and ce. Wasn't massive fan of the new fighters especially T Hawk. Perfect for me would have been to keep CE graphics but improve the ai and maybe adjust existing moves a bit, eg so can't duck under Chun Li bird kick
That actually was a staple for most fighting games actually. Sagat was harder than M. Bison Goro was harder than Shang Tsung Motaro and Kintaro was harder than Shao Khan with most characters without a stun projectile. Spinal was harder than Eyedol. Super Macho Man was harder than Mike Tyson. In all Tekken's the rivlal matchups were more difficult than the Final Bosses. I remember I spent more quarters trying to beat the second to last boss more than spending money on the Final Bosses.
That entire Akuma fight was like a movie, so intense! To finish so perfectly deserves a mention I think, well done

When fight Vega with Sagat I can hit right out the gate with a fireball and usually keep on hitting him right as he gets up over and over.

Both CE sagat and CE ryu are top tier
He is often just ahead of Ryu and Ken in tier ranking. When he's not he tends to be right behind them. Dude's been crushing it since '87.
Of course Sagat is. He's a boss character. Playable bosses are always a tier above the regular characters in fighting games if you use them correctly.
