She is so beautiful! And I love the bed trays! I do not own big snakes, but I'm guessing that is meant to be a bask spot or hangout. I'm anxious to see what you do about lights!
Lights? Oh goodness no! I don’t use lights in the enclosures. The snakes get daylight through the windows 🪟 and I use a heat mat under the enclosures. I prefer keeping simply because I have several snakes. I stay away from overhead lights or overhead heat because then humidity is something else I’d have to worry about.
@@snakenook I may go that route after I've been through my first summer with Chile'! Humidity is a deal, usually to get even the least amount they should have is a hassle! I've added a damp sponge to a soap dish and keep it damp 24/7 and i keep a damp towel on 1/3 of the screen top. It seems to suit him real fine. I did leave the heat lamp off today and turned on the uva/uvb light only. It was nice since it barely raises the temp at all. Chile' likes his uva/uvb and his ceramic heat bulb. He's very active!
I purchase my mats from Amazon, various brands, and I prefer the ones with the temp control knob. I use a temp gun to monitor the heat inside the enclosure.
We were told by our local reptile shop not to put a heat pad on the bottom and these enclosures are not good for ball pythons. Have you had issues with the heat pad melting the composite?
@oliviawuelfing3706 Valid concern for sure…so, the heat mats we use are from Amazon, different brands, but they are heat-adjustable as they come with a knob that’s attached to the cord. We are able to manage the temps that way. No issues with composite melting. We keep the Royals’ warm side at 85-87 degrees Fahrenheit.
@@snakenook thank you , yes just wanted to check with you .85 -90 dgr 🐍💛hoping to receive enclosure soon I let you know day I get it got a low wooden , wide cocktail table it be put on lots of fake plants round bottom of table .
