Species of snakes commonly kept as pets such as ball pythons and boa imperators have very good temperaments for handling. It’s important to treat them respectfully and carefully, and not be overly nervous or scared to hold them, and they seem to appreciate the good treatment, not likely to bite. Also, working routinely with them is important.

@@guillermopino-nieves1239 yes, this particular snake was an online purchase. I’ve also purchased from PetSmart and a local Reptile shop.

That actually is not accurate. Florida got overrun by pythons because of a hurricane destroying a snake rescue unleashing friendly pet pythons. It's not from pet owners dumping off pet snakes

People who want to keep large constrictors but don’t do their research before getting their snake, may find themselves in a bind once the snake is grown because of size. People interested in pet snakes should be responsible and research as much as possible on the species they are interested in before acquiring it. And a pet snake should never be released into the wilderness!

Dogs have never hurt an owner?

The snakes she has aren't big enough to hurt her. My snakes are so sweet. I've never been bit. I'm taking the same chance as owning a dog.

What do you feed a snake that big?

A 5 foot Royal Python eats a medium sized rat every other week.

@snakenook so, thats a garantee that it will never hurt you? A snake, especially a python is considered a "Predator" unpredictable and dangerous... 🤗🤗🤗

It won't get much bigger than that. 4-6 ft is typically the max that Royal (Ball) pythons will grow. They're among the smaller species of pythons so they don't get huge like Burmese, Reticulated or Rock pythons.

​@davidryan9428 it's actually pretty rare for a ballpython to reach 6ft. they normally don't get any bigger than 4-5 feet. long it's considered uncommon for a ballpython

Perhaps a civilized society that is educated when it comes to animal life! Not all snakes species are venomous nor are they all giants. We are the same civilized society that allows dogs in parks, and dogs have teeth, and some with a comparable bite force to that of a wild big cat! ​@@snakenookI don't understand the fear that snakes instill in some people. I've loved them as long as I can remember so much so that I seriously considered going to college for herpetology. Unfortunately I wasn't confident enough at the time that I could make a living with so few employment opportunities.. Why have pa snake? They are wild animals. Keeping them in cages leting loose in your house or outside is dangerous! Whapt happens when they get loose? They wild animals and not a pet or safe to have!

@@bettyphilpott6788 well if you're asking the question why have a pet snake then I assume you've never owned a pet snake. So if I can ask what is dangerous about them? This snake here that she's showing is one of the most docile snakes you can buy and they actually recommend that when children want to get a snake that parents buy a ball python because they're easy to handle they don't bite often. So I'm saying this with all due respect if you're asking why get them because they're dangerous why do you believe they're dangerous?

@davidryan9428 exactly! All these people saying how dangerous pet snakes are, yet don't consider the amount of people injured or killed by dogs! There are more people killed every year by vending machines than by snakes!
