I love how informative this is! And that it caters to the more advanced keeper. Obviously as it should be, given the animal in discussion. But just in general it is hard to find good sources of further education for intermediate+ keepers in today's herp society, given how much we emphasize the new keeper's educational needs over that of the more seasoned ones. I'm excited to see what else you will cover in future videos!
What a beautiful emrald tree boa! You're one of the few youtubers who I feel as if they know what you're doing and talking about. I'm only 5 minutes into the video and I'm already enjoying this. You'll be a huge hit in no time! (Also I love the comedy you added in this video, it makes it way more enjoyable!)
Straightforward, down to earth, practical information. What a rare treat on youtube! Definitely subscribing, and sharing this with a couple of people I know who are in the 'thinking about it' phase.
Fantastic video. Thank you for sharing this information. I am new to Emeralds and just bought my first pair. I will have them soon, and this helped a lot with narrowing down questions I had.
Gary you goofball, it’s so nice to put a face to the name after hearing you on various herpetological podcasts. More videos please, don’t even edit them, just give us more lol
You did a fantastic job with your first video!!!! I'm so interested in Green tree pythons! I didn't know you could keep them in such a small enclosure at first!
Thanks for the info man, ive been wanting one for about 5 years and I am just now trying to make it happen. Great info, subscribe to this man, he knows his stuff.
Fantastic video Gary, Really useful info for people getting into this hobby. Keep them coming, I dont usually subscribe to anything but this is great. who on earth actually gave this a thumbs down!
Hi Gary, I love your animals. Kind of off the wall question for ya, what type of wood are you using for the perches in your snakes enclosures? I love the natural look they give your enclosures. It's much nicer than PVC piping.
Hi David, unfortunately the gentleman who made the perches in my cages no longer makes them due to some health issues, however Specialty Enclosure Designs (www.specialtyenclosuredesigns.com), now makes them, and they are a great place to deal with. Thanks for watching! Gary
I feel like I cane to the Right place here, I'm looking into getting my firs ETB and all this info is just so helpful, I'm hoping I can actually get at least a CB, even if not CBB but not directly wild caught, will check more vids about it
Wow Gary great advice! I remember you back on the mvf forum glad to see you still in the mix. I just recently am getting in gtps again and I just got a Amazon basin emerald tree boa my first one ever. Again nice channel and boy I remember back in those mvf days what a collection you had is Greg still around or Cathy?
Interesting I see alot of you American breeders using water bases. Us UK boys dont adopt this approach. Many methods work tho as you promote. Great video!!
Hey Gary, you mentioned heating for baby chondros in snake racks and your ambient range for them. But what temperature do you set your thermostat to? I know every room is different, personally I cycle my room temps from 76-82F throughout the year to breed the various species I keep. But since you want them around 82F ambient I’m curious what you set the heat tape to in your situation. Great vids, thanks for the good info
Green trees are definitely up on the hill for me. Right now I'm just raising up my ball pythons for breeding. The next step up I'm eyeing would be carpets or white-lips.
For the most part I agree that GTPs don't like handling I have one maruke that might be the exception to this rule he actually seems to enjoy being handled occasionally
So since they’re more nocturnal and sleep during the day, do you feed them in the evening or later at night? Also what is the difference and why are designers so much higher in price? That question is how I stumbled across your video!
Great video! Would love to see videos covering the Northerns you are working with, and the Sanzinia. The Sanzinia in particular do not get enough love or representation in the hobby.
Nice job Gary, but one huge mistake!!! You said the Sanzinia will turn completely green. No way, it will retain the sorta white saddles. You should know that!!!! Just messing with you bud! Really, nice job and nice setup. Keep me in mind for some nice Northern hatchlings.
Ben, my next video comes out this Friday, however in my 3rd video, I'll be featuring a new product which addresses your question. If you have not already, please subscribe to ensure you see it!
Great video! Would like to see more info. Just getting back into etb's after a 20 yr break. I just picked up a w/c northern, so far doing excellent. I do have a fair amount of experience with w/c. Quick ? Who do you get your cages from, am getting dissillusioned with AP. Thanks again!
Hi Benjamin, my Rubbermaid rack is heated with Flexwatt heat tape which is routed through the rack, and sits under each tub. (Managed by a thermostat) Hope this helps!
My emerald boa Veridian is such a sweet heart, I do handle him quite a bit but I only handle him if he wants it. Is that ok to do because I don’t want to hurt him but he loves it and won’t go back in his cage
I have a serious question, my mom and me are looking to get a green tree python she has already bought a tank and I'm worried that it might be to big we were also going to do live plants and have substrate and water on the bottom how old would the python have to be to move it into a cage like this?
Hi Johnnie, I love your desire to have a bioactive enclosure, however due to low air circulation and constant high humidity, such enclosures prove to be problematic for green trees of any age and size. Most will eventually succumb to respiratory infections over time. For that reason, I highly advise a more basic (non-bioactive) enclosure, where your heat and humidity parameters can be better controlled. Thanks for watching!
I bought my baby green tree python at petco. They had 2 for 500 each. Petco policy wont allow live feeding. Neither of the 2 would eat frozen. One died after about 3 months. I offered the manager half price which he declined at first but agreed on my next visit. I offered live as soon as i got home and it ate immediately. I misted 2-3 times a day until all of the stuck shed came off. I now have a healthy GTP for the low cost of $250
very helpful, great video!
Appreciate the kind words (and have watched many of your videos). Thank you.
Turns out you actually do know what you're talking about. (love it btw)
I love how informative this is! And that it caters to the more advanced keeper. Obviously as it should be, given the animal in discussion. What ager would you estimate a 1 pound 3 oz Emerald Boa? Thanks, and thanks for making this video!
I really hope you make more videos on enclosure set up and temps and humidity and just make more videos period I liked this one a lot
What kind of sticks are those that they are sitting on and how did you attach them to the wall of the cage
Contact Specialty Enclosure Designs. They make all of my perches, as well as the perch holders. Thanks for watching!
You looked gorgeous that day
Great video! Would love to see videos covering the Northerns you are working with, and the Sanzinia. The Sanzinia in particular do not get enough love or representation in the hobby.
Awesome Gary! What company made your yearling rack?
www.PVCCages.com but unfortunately they stopped making them. Sorry.
Nice job Gary, but one huge mistake!!! You said the Sanzinia will turn completely green. No way, it will retain the sorta white saddles. You should know that!!!! Just messing with you bud! Really, nice job and nice setup. Keep me in mind for some nice Northern hatchlings.
Great video, thank you!
What if you only have one individual and a rack system doesn’t make sense? Use heat pad on one side of the Rubbermaid?
Ben, my next video comes out this Friday, however in my 3rd video, I'll be featuring a new product which addresses your question. If you have not already, please subscribe to ensure you see it!
Thank you.
Sorry if this has been asked before. What enclosures are those you are using. They look amazing
Boaphile Plastics and PVC Cages.com. Thank you!
I have a panther chameleon and it's living art! Not to be touched! I understand this!
How do you heat the rubbermaid tubs ? It doesn't look like there's any heating pads or anything like that in the video
Hi Benjamin, my Rubbermaid rack is heated with Flexwatt heat tape which is routed through the rack, and sits under each tub. (Managed by a thermostat) Hope this helps!
@@gsreptiles5606 thank you !! That definitely helps a lot
Awesome Gary
My emerald boa Veridian is such a sweet heart, I do handle him quite a bit but I only handle him if he wants it. Is that ok to do because I don’t want to hurt him but he loves it and won’t go back in his cage
Do you have any more from the Morelia family?
I have a serious question, my mom and me are looking to get a green tree python she has already bought a tank and I'm worried that it might be to big we were also going to do live plants and have substrate and water on the bottom how old would the python have to be to move it into a cage like this?

I bought my baby green tree python at petco. They had 2 for 500 each. Petco policy wont allow live feeding. Neither of the 2 would eat frozen. One died after about 3 months. I offered the manager half price which he declined at first but agreed on my next visit. I offered live as soon as i got home and it ate immediately. Idk if all of that stress and heartbreak is worth a $250 discount. Also a farm bred or potentially wild caught gtp is roughly worth $300.
Thanks for the information, can you recommend me a good snake for beginners? Thankyou!
I need you to provide me with some good and trusted green tree python breeders, been on the search for the longest,
Need more videos like this ❤
When do you purchase your enclosures?
Awesome video!
