    I just finished replacing a broken S5 charging port cover after watching this super easy and clear video. This is probably the easiest and most straightforward video on youtube for this. Hardest part for me was separating the waterproof tape away from the piece at the bottom of the phone; definitely that waterproof tape took more of a beating on my phone than in his video. I ordered a 45 in 1 Jackly JK-6089-A screwdriver kit from amazon and a couple of charging port replacement covers which arrived today. I feel I accomplished something today haha thanks to JerryRigEverything . Thanks again!

    Thanks for excellent instructions. I bought my charger cover on ebay from a seller. The shipping and handling cost more than the cover. And to buy 2 of them, the shipping cost doubled. So I just bought one cover the total was $6.87. It was a perfect match. But it was sent with no instructions on how to put it on. I started to try and pull the old one out. But realized if it broke off in there I was going to have a problem. Then I saw the screws. So I typed in the Google search how to replace a waterproof door on a Galaxy S5 phone, and you popped up. I watched your 1 minute 23 seconds video, and in the next 5 minutes my new cover was on. It would have been lesser time if I had found a miniature phillips head screw driver sooner. My phone is protected again from water damage, and it looks great. Next time I will check out your videos on Galaxy S5 before I buy anything else for it. Thanks again.

    This part has been broken on my phone for months but just today I decided to look up a replacement part. Got 5 of them for $5 and your instructions make it easy as pie. Thanks a ton.

    This was the best how to out of all the ones I saw. Other videos have you heating up the screen and taking the phone apart. This was simple, straight forward and very easy to follow. I was discouraged until I saw this video. I knew it was a simpler way. So glad I continued to search and watched this one. You get a 5* rating from me.

    100% Helpful. I bought this replacement part over a year ago, and although it came with the appropriate screwdriver, there were no instructions included and I was reluctant to crack the case. Thanks to this video I replaced the part with no troubles at all, and not the slightest bit of anxiety.

      JerryRigEverything my cover broke off about a month ago so I thought I was gonna have to pay trough the nose to get someone to replace it as I no longer have service through a carrier but figured I'd check both EBay for the cover, then, obviously RUclips to see if someone showed how to do it. even I can do this & I'm as tech uneducated as they come so thanks ❤

    I'm so glad I found this video. I'm getting a replacement phone and I have to mail in my old one. I was nervous because I was concerned they may charge me the replacement fee if this was missing. Since I have another S5 with a broken camera, I took that one off and replaced it to the phone I have to return. So simple! Took me all of a minute. Thank you so much for this video!

    I took my S5 to Samsung, having broken my cover, they said they need it for 2 days because they needed to replace the whole back of the phone...I had already seen your video, and explained it was a 2 min job. The repairer was adamant that it took more than a day to fix.
    Anyway, I bought a part off Ebay for 5 bucks,..it just arrived and 2 mins later it's good as new.

    I just wanted to say this fix works for the Samsung Galazxy S6 too. My son broke off the cover while playing his video game. I bought the replacement part off Amazon but it didn't include any instructions. So, I watched your video and used your link to buy the screw (since, of course the thing rolled off the desk while I was putting the cover in). Anyway, thanks for the video. Good luck.

    Super helpful, thank you!
    Water proofing NOTE: You do not have to remove the white plastic piece completely in order to easily remove the end of the protector. Lift it a bit with your flat head screw driver while pulling out the old and then adding the new protector. This way, there is less risk of damage to the black water proofing tape inside.

    Good, short, to- the -point video. I am a firm believer in this cover, as I did in fact drop mine in water prior to the cover breaking off a couple days ago. A quick retrieval from its' bath resulted in no damage. That convinced me how important this cover is.

    Great Video! We ordered the parts as a kit from amazon/china $10.14 and using your video made it a breeze to replace myself. The only issue I had was in using the tiny little screwdriver (too tiny) included in the kit, fortunately I wear glasses and already had a tiny little screwdriver of my own. We ordered the kit with 3 covers since we have several samsung phones to maintain. Thanks so much for your video and it's helpfulness.

    I can't believe the port cover on mine broke, I've only had my S5 since October and the little plastic strip/hinge ripped today; I had a feeling if anything failed on the phone that would be the first thing to go, but I'm surprised at how cheap it is to have broken already.

  • @irishollis3324
    @irishollis3324 9 лет назад

    Thanks - that was easy. Replacement from Amazon included small screwdriver, cover, small screw and small part. I did not see an entire small gasket around the opening after screw and part removal, only a piece. Screw itself seemed to be a bit rubberized at its end, which made removal a bit tedious. Used a very thin blade to pry off the part, and tweezers to lift off the screw, since screwdriver did not free the screw. Instructions are detailed and excellent. I used a white tray for the small parts while doing this. Fun project.

    Probably the S5's dumbest design flaw I found in my week of use in an otherwise excellent phone.
    On the bright side, the design feels like Samsung expects that flap to break off regularly (perhaps engineers at Samsung haggled with the bureaucrats?), making it a rather easy fix as you've shown. Well done.

      @JerryRigEverything  10 лет назад +2

      Trades46 Yup, and the flaps are way cheap too. Only like 5 bucks on Amazon. (Link in the video description) Even if it does rip off... its value is very important to keeping your phone waterproof.

    Customer service in the USA is so bad that we have to replace stuff like this by ourselves. It's seriously that easy...wow! s5's are now notorious for these things breaking off and Samsung refuses to do anything citing it's a User end and use problem not a defect. Thanks for this vid! Very straightforward and now I know I can fix it myself. :)

    Your video made it simple, only took a couple minutes. Hardest part was finding the screwdriver lol. Thanks for your help!

    Thanks for the video. Helpful and easy to follow. I got my replacement port cover from Amazon before I found your video. Wish I'd purchased two as you suggested!

    It took longer for the flaps to come in from an international origin via Amazon. Glad I ordered 3 at a time just in case it happens again for as long as I may have the phone
    Thank you. I did it myself with your help of course. Your video is much appreciated!!
    Thanks again.

    Thanks for this video! Somehow the actual cover on mine broke in half while I was charging it in the car last night. (The inside rubber piece is currently holding it together, but it doesn't snap back in place now.) I'm glad it's a simple (and inexpensive) fix.

    Very helpful. Thanks It's as easy as this video shows. If you have a small Phillips head screwdriver like for eye glass screws, that should do it. Just be careful and don't lose that little screw!

    "Little protector thing" - strictly a technical term.
    Thanks for the video. Easiest fix I've ever done on a phone that required a screwdriver.
