I think Fanstoys is killing it right now. I love how they stay in their lane and do their own thing scale be damned. No one makes a perfect figure, but when I put them among my other third party Figs they stand out like modern art masterpieces

I'm proud that you speak your opinion on any bot, be it FT or whatever company. I'd rather hear the truth and opinions about a figure than just hear others say, "This figure is great because it was made by 'company X'." Myself, I've never been a FT fanboy. Yes they make great looking figures and I have several of their figures, but I think they are losing the fun in them. Transformations are becoming more and more of a pain. I buy Transformer for looks and function and FT are getting more and more exactly like you said in the video. Thank you Ben for you true opinions!
I am with you on this man....I think FT is over hyped ...yes they look like the cartoon umm not sure how they getaway with that.....mainly they are unfun transformations.

Agreed. I like figures with a good transformation, challenging but organized in how parts fit together. I'm not keen on the whole "floppy panels on linkages" thing FansToys have been doing lately. I really like their Galvatron though.
I have a great Idea to improve Fans Toys Products. We just have to suggest that:
1. Change the designer. He is doing very badly with engineering.
2. Someone explain to them that they must respect their own scale. Silverbolt or Motormaster can not be as high as the Dinobots.
3. Change the art team. The G1 Transformers should not have so much metallic paint.
4. Someone tell them that the diecast should not be left unpainted in the parts that are visible in alt mode or robot. Pleaseeee They're driving me crazy. What a waste. Oh my God.
By the record: I have several of your products. And they seemed like a very good and interesting company that promised a lot. But they are doing it very badly lately.

All FT bots have a secret hidden mode: any time you pause in mid-transformation, you get the "exploding grenade" mode.

His scale doesn't bother me one bit...he turns into a freakin Concorde jet... Those were a good 30+ feet longer than your standard tractor trailer. 84' to be exact.

FT Maverick is the same size as the Zeta, yet he is too big? Huh?
Many torso combiners are way too big, MMC, Zeta, FT, I'd like them to be as tall as mp optimus if this is made for MP scale. That said I rank sculpt, transformation and quality higher. Thank you Ben for the review!
@@thugg4lif Confused as to why Zeta Silverarrow that is the same height as FT Maverick gets praise for it's height, yet Maverick is called out as too tall.
I think it was his first impression, but later when he compared it with Zeta's he changed his mind saying they are pretty equal in size, just that FT's *felt* bulkier (maybe due to the die-cast heft).

I have to disagree on the size considering the size of his jet mode which should be much bigger than the others I think he should be much bigger than most figures.
Great figure in both robot and vehicle form. But my goodness that transformation is something else.
Torso bots for two combiners should be the same size in bot mode. Motor master and Silver bolt being similar is what I would expect. And it’s the same as Zeta. What’s with all the whining about him.
You shouldn't apologize for your opinion on something you spent your own money on. I think you have a solid history of reviews. I think FansToys has an overall stellar record (compared to others who have put out the same number of releases), but that doesn't mean every release nails it. I'm very curious how these combiners are going to shape up. It's a different game. Appreciate the honest review.
It has been made clear to me I'm unusual, but I enjoy FansToys' transformations. The only one I have a problem with is their Springer, and that is just because I find his alt modes so underwhelming, nothing about the transformation itself. For 2018 my favorite figure to transform was Rouge. I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on Maverick.
If you have a problem with Apache, then you have a problem with Springer, because as far as accuracy to the animation model goes, Fans Toys kills it. No exceptions.
Oh damn how did I miss this? I have Zeta's Kronos and I personally love Silver Arrow because he is not needlessly hard to transform. He does what he needs to do. FT Reminds me of the MP Datsuns. I love them but I hate transforming them. Then again I do own FT's Kup and Arcee and I have never transformed Arcee because watching a reviewer do it already exhausted me lol.
Concorde is a big plane which would make a big bot. Also a concord is a lot longer than a truck and trailer. But great review as always. Thanks for sharing 👍🏾
That thing is a mess. But it’s an extremely impressive one. Kudos to being far and away the most streamlined silverbolt Concorde mode.
I still think if they made the robot a head shorter, and the jet mode 50% bigger, they could have squeezed almost all the robot kibble into the fuselage. Imagine how much more complex that would be ;D
Well you can't fault the ambition. That's same very clever design, especially the way the legs unfold. And that is one of the cleaner silverbolt altmodes I've ever seen, but it seems like maybe only 30% cleaner than zeta for 300% more work. Not sure it's worth it.

Based purely on looks I like the Zeta better.
Its available right now, better value, transformations are fun, and we know Superion is poseable and doesn't fall apart.

The split nosecone on the back kind of looks like waistcoat tails. He's one dapper Silverbolt!
Jokes aside though, I personally prefer the Zeta version, but the FT one has a nice headsculpt.
There's things on both that bother me, like the shoulders and back pack on Zeta and the scale on FT. It'd be nice if we could get the best elements of both. Maybe XTB or MMC will do one too.

Great review Ben! The transformation kind of reminds me of TE-01 and Badcube’s MP carbots. I don’t mind these transformations because I don’t have the time do it on a consistent basis. He is a goo looking bot.

Wow, I get that FT fans don't generally flip these back and forth, but this thing looks frustrating not fun. I'm interested to see how FT does on their combiners but only as a spectator, I'll stick with my JJ-02 for Sups.
I wish FT would do Ironhide and Ratchet, they would kill it.
I'm a tinkerer, as Skullface calls it. Ha ha even with Wardog. Love to transform my toys. That's why I have a bunch of loose Machine Robo/Gobots around. I know it's a different thing than MP though...

Is that a hint that you will do XTB Seaspray next! So subtle are you! Yes this has better paint and feels of quality but Zeta did a great job on their Silverbolt for way less $$$. Thanks

After the Dibots, so all products FT-09 and later, there are a total of 4 that have more than 1 color released, though half of them have been announced this year. They did two different chest colors on Bombshell 4 years ago, they did a Guardian repaint of Omega Supreme 2 years ago, then this year did Phoenix X (which really came out of no where) and announced a new color of Cyclonus. On Cyclonus I don't know about the wider community, but there was a poll on TFW2005 where 20% of people liked the color FT chose to do. Making 20% of people happy is not a good ratio so I expected that repaint, but I would never guarantee any specific figure to get a repaint (except maybe Soundwave since Soundblaster did actually appear in the cartoon).
No alt mode comparison with the Zeta?
Hopefully mine will turn up soon. From what ive seen from reviewers, whilst a good figure, Road King blows him out of the water (or sky...)

FansToys Superion looks great, no doubt about that, but I think I'll stick with Zeta Toys version. I see more "fun" on it than the FansToys version...
So looking forward to getting him AND his mates. But Fanstoys seems too have no release dates for it's impending figures. I see some toy sites have already sold out their pre-orders for 'Goose' & 'Iceman.' Where does one find out when the their bots are supposed to go on sale? And the notion that presales are sold out isn't too cool, there is no waiting to see if the released toy has issues or not. Not sure if Fantosy does reissues.
See....with the Arielbots, they should be big anyways. So the stupid G1 scale goes out the window me in this case
I just got this figure. I admit that the transformation is complex, but I do not see how it could be simpler and still make the robot mode look as good as it does. Anyway, with instructions the figure was okay to transform up until the end when I was trying to align the wings and arms with their tabs together; they just did not go as the instructions show, and at the end I ended up leaving the tabs in the red parts outside of their designated slots - and from the look of it, so did you, BensKOllectables. Still, the end result looks so good that the difficult transformation is worth it.
By the way, regarding the scale of the robot mode, Silverbolt is supposed to be just as tall as Optimus Prime, and thus significantly taller than Decepticon seekers. When compared to Transform Element's OP Leader, he is only half a head taller, so the scale is not _that_ much off. I think that the figure was made as tall as it is to better match up with Roadking.
I have no idea what the chinstrap face is from, but there were several people who panicked when FT didn't show it in their color promo shots. Obviously they care about whatever it is.
I don't know how you define "towering over", but a head taller or less I don't really consider it to be "towering" over Optimus. As for "needing" to be that tall, I expect that they just matched him to his "rival" Motormaster.
Has anyone noticed that the cover of the instruction book for Maverick says "QUIETUS" in grey letters on the side? I guess someone forgot to update the text box in the template.
Fanstoys has had an issue with scale lately. Their movie bots seem too tall and their seaspray (both) a bit too small. Their figures are fantastic but not perfect.
@@destro319 and some people do put their collections in a big group together, why are you complaining about the fact I'd like them to be properly scaled?

@@DjWarpedcore sorry but no, I own the entire series and 86 movie and recently binged it, Kup ist taller than Hot Rod especially in the movie where most folk get their scale from(since post movie cartoons suck ass). Not to mention that Takara sets the scale first with MP10 and building the rest scaled to him
The instruction manual is not clear at all. It took me forever to figure parts out while using the manual. Now that I've done it the transformation is nowhere near as long as the first time

I'm with you Ben. When you pay your hard earned money for something like Masterpiece Transformers you have every right to voice your dislikes regardless of who's made it. I've never quite understood why everyone goes so crazy over Fanstoys stuff anyways. Don't get me wrong, their stuff is always very professional looking and pleasing to gaze upon, but I like what all of the other companies offer as well just as much. Fanstoys aren't doing themselves any favors by making the transformations so ridiculously tedious and their dirty tactic of releasing toon accurate versions after everyone has already bought the original release.

The scale of Silverbolt, and MotorMaster...are and should be larger than the Masterpiece Seeker because they are the main body torso of a Combiner.
Great review as always Ben. Going back to your Motormaster review, of course as you spend the money you have a right to critique any figure to a standard you expect. Personally I’m ok with Motormasters backpack, considering it’s most of the trailer, however I respect your opinion. I personally like his transformation aswell. Looking at Silverbolt as you say I think he looks great in both modes however they have seriously over engineered the transformation making it unnecessarily complex albeit with some great engineering in places. I’m looking forward to getting him in hand as I’m in on both FT combiners. From what I have read and understand the last figure in each set will be released with all the combiner parts and will be priced similarly to the torso bot, which I find is an odd way of doing business as it would have made sense to release each figure with a combiner piece, but for whatever reason FT decided not to go down that route. Looking forward to catching up with you at TFNation and having a good chat.
I'm at the 10-minute mark and you're complaining about the height still. I'm not sure what the official scale is but I can't understand you wanting him to be smaller than Motormaster. Both of them are the leaders of opposing teams and on top of that Silverbolt is already super duper under scale since he becomes a really huge jet. Lol. He should probably be taller than Jefire.
I'm okay with the height. Actually I wish he was eye-to-eye with Motormaster. I've seen the transformation before so I do have to agree that it's unnecessarily difficult. The end result though is pretty clean. Now I'll shut up and finish watching your review.
It's cool if you're ok with the size, everyone feels differently about TF scale since it was not very consistent, but I totally get why he thinks it's too tall. In the cartoon he was not bigger than Prime.

I love how he criticises this figure for being too tall multiple times but then puts it next the zeta one and they’re the same size. In his review of the zeta figure he points out that it is taller than mp 10 but says it’s ok because he’s a Concorde which is a “ big, big jet” so he thinks it looks good.
Which is it.? You can’t criticise one figure for something and praise another for the same thing.

Am not gonna lie he looks Absolutely Fantastic, but for me Silver Bolt is not a character that am like i must have the absolute Best interpretation. So am just going to get the Zeta toys Box set. Am planning on keeping them in combine mode anyways. As always great review Ben, and it's okay if your not a Fanstoys fanboy. :0)
The Zeta set is the best for the money and you get to play with it now, not 4 years from now ;) (FT cough cough)

He's kinda wide in the front and skinny from the side. Not quite DX9 stunticons bad but pretty thin. Makes me wonder if their stunticons are going to be as thin as dx9's.

It is all dependent on what supplier he gets products from. Even if its offical product but it comes from a source he gets ko's from it will show up on Ben's ok channel. Hope that helps

I get where you are coming from but where fanstoys shines is in the sculpt department imo and I'm the kind of collector that transforms his figures once, maybe twice and then they go on my shelf looking good. I do pose them differently from time to time but very rarely mess around with them transformation wise. Long story short; for me sculpt is way more important to me than how the transformation works and that's why I love fanstoys but I can see how for some it's a completely different story altogether.

Agreed, I've only owned a handful of Fanstoys figures. I ended up selling them off for different options, my toys have to be fun. I get why people like them, it you're just going to leave it in one mode forever they are fine. Always seemed like a waste to me though, because I was scared to transform or handle them too much.

Looks great a very polished final product! Not going to sell the Zeta version I will keep it displayed in combine mode. And have the FT displayed in robot mode as they look great but also the transformation is a bit much and all those panels seem like a risk of something may break. But looking forward to owning this set this set with the zeta is going to be an amazing display.

Regarding the FT will be slightly higher than the combined zeta! FT better.
Zeta has good price for the reason of the fight with toywold they had to sell cheap to receive! Also, the next ones will not be cheap as raiden!

You cant base Ft combined mode on wishes. Zeta superion is solid. You have no idea how FT will be.

@@xreviews3304 if or when they get completed. Do the math at the pace they release figures and in parallel releasing both combiners, its strategy to delay the end result. No parts with torso, then they say each limb will come with, then most recently BSF dropped the news parts are coming with the last limb. FT's won't get finished at the earliest end of 2020, realistically summer 2021. Mark the tape!

Little debate over at TFW2005, what color are his thighs to you? Are they a yellow, orange, or a gold?
Not that I care as I WONT be buying this but it would have been nice to have the "drooping nose" feature like a real Concorde had for landing /take off if you want to display it in jet mode... engineering is already way over complicated so they should have gone the whole way and included it.lol
It does have that feature for the nose.
I don’t feel fanstoys is the best company out. I place them in third place as a third party company. He look good. Not great. Though I do love difficult transformations. So for me the harder the better

I'm probably the only one who thinks this and their Menasor release have some major visual problems. I absolutely can't stand their transparent pieces with the dark spots, it looks like every piece is a cassette tape. The whole chest area of this Maverick looks like the unfinished underside of a more finished piece. Nothing pops to my eye, it's very "flat" looking and boring.
