MAKE MINE GIGAPOWER! I used to have Scoria, but as soon as I got my 1st Giga dino I sold Scoria and never looked back. And now that we finally have the complete set I have absolutely no regrets. I got doubles for all of them to display in both modes. Come on... it's the Dinobots. With Gaudenter I bought one of each color. My chromed Gigas have become my absolute favorite pieces in my entire collection. I can sell it all in a flash, not thinking twice. But I will never sell my 10 Giga Dinos. Now I just need one of those thrones. Awesome reviews as always, Ben.

It's only natural for Fantoys fanboys to justify their purchase since they are not cheap. Put Giga and FT side by side and I guarantee 8/10 people who are new to these toys will choose Giga. I'm glad I chose Giga.
@Predaking101 The analogy to the 2016 election outcome would make Gigapower = Donald Trump... That's a bad look for Giga, because nobody did more whining on the campaign trail than him, despite the fact that he won.
Anyway, I couldn't agree with you more about everything else. I love Fans Toys' products, but their shills leave something to be desired; Giga's scale, design and aesthetic are to my liking, and yet, I've had to endure at least a dozen pretentious dipshits rambling on about how aLl ReAl CoLlEcToRs prefer Fans Toys... Which is just dumb.
That said, I'm curious about the price-fixing from some of FT's most rabid collectors... Is this something you witnessed? Or just a theory?

Good looking figure and set but I’ll stick with my FT dinos. Gigs might do something similar to FT and release a separate Grimlock alt mode head with blue eyes

We who prefer fanstoys are usually going for toon specific collections.. I prefer whatever character looks most like the cartoon though I do have the IDW version of Devastator because the cartoon/ toy one is fugly in my opinion. Fanstoys nails toon Aesthetics but there are trade-offs such as crappy transformations.. I'm a fan of any company that gives me a rock solid toon aesthetic with a more mature vibe.
Gigapower is giving you toy Aesthetics with over-exaggerated Limbs and torso and a awful lot of extra details that they just pulled out of thin air. If you like that look more power to you but if you're looking for something that is toon specific then fanstoys is clearly the winner.
I do give props to gigapower on their paint I wish fanstoys had went that route.

Yes I would prefer the eyes to be more blue, no doubt about it. That is the first thing that stood out to me in robot mode. Oh, well...guess I'll have to find some reprolabel to fix that up.

Exactly and that's the only thing that still has me considering the fanstoys Grinder. Articulation is a must for me in a figure.

The Dino mode is weaker that the reximus prime. The neck is too long / skinny and the head seems small to me.

I have all the fans toys Dinobots and yes I do think fanstoys are much better being a toon accurate representation of the Dinobots. I mean if another company comes out with Dinobots that represent the characters I grew up with more I would go with them. I'm not loyal to any brand name. Gigasaurs is based on the toy as you can tell from the eyes the smoked plastic and the red horns.. they're a great figure if you want that and a bunch of added detail that has nothing to do with any cartoon or comic book. They are also very well made except for the feet issue on this one from what I understand.
My only purpose on any forum to clarify that if you're looking for a toon aesthetic gigasaur is not that.

I'm hoping Giga Power does a G2 colored release of this figure. I missed out on the Fans toys one.
Sold off the two Giga dinos I had a year ago because of paint chipping. Have they sorted that out? It looks like it's the same paint, but possible they've gotten better with the application. Nice looking figures, but I'm just not a fan of the detailing scheme Giga has gone with. This one is their best by a large margin, though. Really nicely done.

I am quite new to this. Just ordered some of my first Transformers (thanks to your great reviews). I'm thinking about buying the Gigasaurs too. I heard you mentioning the Toyhax sheets and checked their site. They offer alot and am not sure which to choose. Which ones are you using on the Gigasaurs? And what would you recommend for the Cloud 9 Quakeblast, Jin Bao Devastator and Robot Hero Starscream?

The arm flaps are very weak. I heard they break quite easily. Tiny plastic bits are holding all that die cast?! Has anyone encountered the problem?

looks like a good figure, but the g1 dinobots were super ugly. now the FoC Dinobots, there’s beauty.
Awesome review as always. I still prefer Reximus. The MP-08 mold still looks the most toon accurate out of the 3 (Fans Toys included) and Reximus Dino Mode looks larger all around from those comparisons. Taller and larger T-Rex head, probably scales even better with TE Prime. Gigapower Grimlock looks a tad too small in T-Rex mode next to TE Optimus imo. What are your thoughts on this?

I was a huge gigapower fan and loved all their dinos...until now. This one really disappointed me. Metallic version with red dino eyes... even though all the other metallic dinos they did have blue eyes. But the thing that really bug me, and Ben didn't demonstrate it, as you move the dino arms the hinges fall apart because they didnt cap the hinge peg. Also, once you lock the foot pegs into the back in dino mode, there is no easy or accessible way to pop them back out to transform into robot mode. Poor design there. Robot mode is flawless though! :-) Dino mode just disappointed me. Hopefull giga will provide replacement dino arms to use instead of these failures :-(

Transforming it back can be tricky. The foot bits that tab into the back of the dinosaur are very hard to untab.

Whichever figure comes out last you will like best it seems to me. It will almost always be an "improved version" if it comes out later. It is really just a different version, not better.

In your opinion is this better than the grinder Grimlock?
I own both FT and GP not-dinobots and I wouldn't say I like the GP better than the FT. I don't understand that argument, personally. Do you like XTB Eligos over FT Quietus because Eligos is bigger and better scaled? No one says they prefer Eligos, except me, because the FT looks better, arguably. I think Eligos looks better but I digress. There is more to preferring a figure than scale and that's where I think this debate lies: the look of FT in a lot of ways is better and more toon accurate, even scale of either is matter of which image you look at. I don't understand the relevance of the scale in this debate between FT and GP; if it doesn't remain consistent and apply also to Quietus and Eligos for the same reason. It seems a personal bias based on nothing really but taste rather than a valid argument. I think the FT is more toon accurate and the GP are a stylistic choice for fans of oversized dinobots. I think you swallowed the troll-bait in order to prefer the GP.
I personally think Eligos looks better as well, most of the people who say FT is always better are just the fanboys. Don't get me wrong, FT makes some awesome figs but they aren't the end all either. They have scale issues alot of the time, some of their design choices aren't to my liking (I actually prefer the official Hot Rod over theirs). XTB has issues as well, my Beachcomber had a (luckily not crucial) part break on the very first transformation.
I feel like Ben states that it is his personal preference quite a bit. He prefers a more imposing scale and sturdier joints. I have the metallic Guttur reissue, and the hips are incredibly strong, so that can’t be an issue anymore. To each their own!
It's all on what you are looking for. As for Dinobots being a masterpiece figure they need to be big, imposing, detailed and beautifully painted. FT has neither of those. Masterpiece, imo, is supposed to be a transformer in this modern day, not a "toon accurate" figure that is barely painted and plain like how FT looks.

They look like an MP version of the toy thats been buffed 20% by ko company and givin seige aesthetics.. they do not look like the original Dinobots from the cartoon.

It just looks like the oversized version of Hasbro's seeing it next to the other one I was like wow they are so damn close, I have fanstoys but if I wanted something that was kind of Siege like with all the extra detail that has nothing to do with the toys or Tune characters then maybe but I need to and accuracy and fanstoys hits that Mark. There are a few things about this figure that looks strange to me like his body looks more like a banana there's more of a curve. And his Dimensions look off like his chest is to squared and his face is to angled.. also when his chest is his wings and robot mode they're very Square and just kind of flop out there unlike fanstoys. Honestly I haven't seen one gigapower figured that would make me want to trade my fanstoys, just don't get the same Nostalgia feeling from those it's almost like they were made Siege Style with just random details all over.
We all get it man. You own the FT Dino's and prefer them over the GP Dino's but yet you watch all these GP reviews from other channels/reviews knowing you don't like them and Trash the competition. Good for you you already own "Option A" and have to justify your purchase lol.
@@i.still.function3463 not really.. as I've said in many of my posts they are an awesome figure but they are not what I would consider a good representation of G1 cartoon. It's something people need to know if they are spending a grand on something I think.. some reviewers make it sound like they're the better option for that sort of thing. And I beg to differ so I put out my opinion. For instance if you're looking for a MP size Dinobots that has more detail but still looks a lot like the toy versions then this is the way to go. I'm not saying they're crap at all. I'll admit I do have an issue with meaningless detail :-)
