    As a Black person living in Wi, I have several Hmong friends, everything they are showing I can attest to. I tried cow heart, squid balls, raw beef in my Pho which I like. I've even tried pig brain, that wasn't my forte lol but I like seeing how the Asian community works together and get alot of their food naturally. There's a good size Hmong population in Minnesota. That pepper sauce is great, when they make me a pan of egg rolls, I eat them with that pepper sauce😍🔥. It's fantastic.

    • @vonamon316
      @vonamon316 2 года назад +3

      I worked in a Vietnamese kitchen for years and the raw beef Pho is really legit, I think the family I worked for had some Hmong roots along the way because some things I'm seeing in their culture in these videos is similar. But I love Pho, we were only closed one day a week and that was either a cleaning day for the restaurant but in Winter it was Pho prep day, cooking the bones and soaking the bean sprouts, Thai basil trimming, trimming the beef, and getting everything ready to be made for service on Monday. It was all done very much with love, time, trad. ingredients

      I screwed up at 19 and ended up in jail, and at one point my bunkmate was a 16 year old kid who i thought was chinese. After a couple of days he opened up and told me he was Hmong. I wasn't an idiot in school, i paid attention and was in the upper 10th percentile in my class but had never ever been told or taught about the Hmong people. He told me all about their plight and how they had no official land to call their home. Learned a lot from that kid, and he ended up getting sentenced to 20 years in prison at 16 for being an accessory to murder. I sometimes wonder if he's been released or if he ended up stuck in the system.

      @Phoenix 𝙾𝚙𝚎𝚗 𝙼𝚢 PROFILE It's because Hmong refuges were the gov's dirty little secret. And they purposely spread out Hmong refugees to areas in the US where they wouldn't have much contact with each other so that they wouldn't create ethnic enclaves. Forced assimilation really. Comments to statements like your from ppl like @Retri Bution just further demonstrate how ignorant people are about the whole situation.

    This is so immensely interesting, I love meeting and learning of new cultures. I saw your previous capsule episodes of the Hmong people their culture and food and immensely admire them for striving to be true to themselves by maintaining it. They are a beautiful people have an integrity unmatched here in America. Americans maintain your freedoms and acceptability of other cultures, that is the best of what we represent and what makes America great! Defend it with your integrity before we lose it! 🇺🇸🙏🏽♥️✨

    Being from Fresno it is really nice seeing Hmong in other parts of the country. There is a book that explains the Hmong assistance in Laos. But, my best picture is of General Vang Pao dedicating the Hmong Vietnam memorial in Fresno. Many military leaders have had traditional funerals in Fresno, I'm just sad that many weren't honored as well during this recent time. We are losing them fast, time to renew the tradition.

However, I've always wanted to know more about their food traditions etc. beyond what I see from the outside. Thank you for that opportunity. definitely one of my favorite episodes y'all. The homespun, domestic american farmscape, coupled with delicious, exotic, imported Hmoung/Hmuong (yikes, i've already accidentally forgotten how to spell, i am so so sorry guys) recipes is just such a combo as i have never seen or even imagined! Just one MORE reason to luv a dove and dove tha BEFRS squad and mission...Keep up zee good werk my friends..keeping obscure, beautiful, critically endangered and fantastic ethnically diverse cultures alive is arguably one of the most important responsibilities we shoulder (or should- a-hem) as a civilization. Paleontology shouldn't have to be relegated to old, dry bones and shards of pottery and beads-when living, breathing artifacts and traditions exist riite-cheer in middle america. So, once again, good lookin out Sonny. Thanks for taking us with you on all these amazing adventures. Most simply put, there's just no one else, in the genre, doin it how y'all do. I adore the enthusiasm, the genuine authenticity, completely void of gimicks on every level and the individuality that only the real deal can deliver....and i kno ive said it a thousand times, but y'all really do rock....now...carry on
