Great video thanks! I bought them last week… i had for 7 years the old model, Alp trainer mid gtx “1” , went in to the shop straight to the new ones, No care about the other 50 boots model they had… LOVE THEM!
Awesome! Thanks!
Awesome video man! Thanks for the review!
Thank you!
Great review mate I’ve just ordered a pair 👍
Thank you! Awesome! If you remember, shoot me a reply after you try them out. I'd like to see what you think of them. 👍
Great review! thanks a lot!
Of course! Thank you!
Agree with all this. They're wonderful boots and very comfortable for what they are.
Thanks! Yeah they have been awesome!
Great review thank you, my feet sweat a lot and I find that issue with gortex on any boot, I live in the PNW (Washington) lots of snow and very wet terrain here.
Yeah honestly I probably wouldn't recommend these for those conditions just because these have more of a Suede outer which in my opinion suck up and hold a lot of moister. If you are occasionally coming across those conditions these are fine but 24/7 in them not so good hah
Just got these boots and love them. I thought they have a wide toe box compared to other European boots. Perfect for the high desert hunting and packing I do.
Oh awesome! I honestly haven't tried many other brands. I am just used to Marine Corps combat boots, which just about every pair of boots are better than those things lol Good luck this season! I'll still be using these bad boys here in NV and ID this coming season.
I think I'm gonna go for their bigger brother, the Mountain Trainer because they have a full rand all around the shoe and not just in the front as this model. My last two pair of boots both failed in that section (Salomon Quest 4 and Lowa Renegade) with not so many mileage on them.
I just tried the Salewas today at a store and they were quite comfy, let's see how they perform in the mountains.
Awesome! Yeah I don't think you can go wrong with those.
I use gtx boots in 6 months of snow, and you definitely need to change socks and dry boots. If u stop moving with wet feet, at sub zero, they will freeze.
I'm changing careers and I will be doing alot of field work with wet, muddy conditions sometimes. How is the build quality on these? Can they stand up to a bit of abuse? I'm especially concerned about the toe junction. I was looking at either these or Hoka Anacapa Mid GTX, but it looks like these are a little more robust. Edit: Also, how is the weight? Are these boots that I can work in all day and not get fatigued due to excessive weight?
Thanks for the thorough review.
Overall I would say these are perfect for what you're looking for. The only thing I would keep in mind is that even though they are both GORTEX, if they are wet for a long period of time your feet will still get damp inside since the GORTEX can't breath. Other than that I honestly think the Salewa's are a better choice. They have more flexibility for a custom fit with the full lace down toe box and the different foot bed options. The structure of the toe box seems to be better than the Hoka's. I honestly am not very familiar with Hoka's but it looks like there are more positive reviews of the Salewa's vs those Hoka's from other reviewers. As far as the weight they are a little over 1 pound per boot so very light weight in my opinion. I have worn these things for a week pack in hunt and my feet were very comfortable throughout the entire week I was wearing them, so I am very confident in the comfort of the Salewa's. Overall I would say keep doing research on both just to be sure of your choice but from my experience with these Alp Trainer 2's, I would buy them again and again. Hope that helps!
great review, i can not find the difference between the mountain trainer. what kind of loads have you packed on these along with distance and terrain? thank you
Thank you! Since these are my main hunting boots I have hiked a lot with around 20-40 lbs of gear. I mostly have used them on the west coast (United States) in dry mountain terrain with sharp objects. They have held up really well and have a lot of tread on them still. I also used them in some wet thicker terrain and they grip really well. I typically backpack hunt as well so I have put a lot of miles on these and I truly can't be any happier. The only issue I have is when it comes to being in constant wet terrain, when they are wet for long periods of time your feet will start to get wet since the gortex lining can't evaporate the heat from your feet when wet. Your feet will start to get wet. I also sweat a lot so this could be different for you. Hope that helps!
I tried them out on my foot and i have wide foot. + flatfood And the really was nice but just too narrow for my foot. Sadly enough salewa dosnt make a wide model.
How about the weight?
What kind of pants are you wearing at min 6:51?
First Lite Guide Lite. I don't think they sell them anymore though. Just the guide lite shorts.
sorry for your lost for your buddies in Ukraine, stay strong!
?
Thanks for the review, very clear and informative
I'm mostly interested in the MFF system but I didn't know you had to pay for the extra different ones.
Did you try other Salewa boots? I was looking for the Mountain Trainer Lite Mid
Thank you! I haven’t tried any other Salewa boots yet but I plan to buy some new ones sometime soon!
Is it useable with semi automatic crampons?
I have never tried them so I am uncertain.
How is the fit regarding width? Ive heard Salewa run pretty normal. Im right on the cusp of a wide shoe and thus usually lean that way.
Me personally I thought they fit more on the narrow side which I like and is why I chose them to begin with. It's like a narrow fit for added support not a narrow too small feel if that makes sense? Coming from Salewa they said if you run more of a wide foot they recommend going up a half size. Hope that helps!
@@stalkartistthanks it helps a lot. Some of the european companies make the feel too small type of narrow shoes.
@@jl9362 Awesome. Yeah that's true. If you have a Bass Pro or Cabela's next to you I'd try out the sizes there then order what you want. They carry Salewa boots and shoes.
Ive found that salewa dont run as narrow as scarpa or asolo. But not as forgiving as a lot of the solomon footwear.
@@mrgoodkat8567 I would like to try some Solomon's next
These shoes or the lowa renegade?
Honestly, I’m not too familiar with the Renegade but they look nice too! I don’t think you can go wrong with either.
About these dangerous shoos there is a .possible worldwide? cashback for alptainer 2 buyed before april 2022... or take back action. The steelcables did couse dangerous fall. With hooking up . See the Salewa backbuy warnings. ( The danger is for sloppy people that do not firmly close the upperpart of the shoo)
That is interesting, I did not know about the recall. I kinda feel like that recall is unnecessary because any shoe untied or loose posses a tripping hazard. I haven't had any problems with mine. Thank you fro that update though.
