Thanks for the video overview of the Wildfire Edge Mid GTX boots 🥾. We would like to see 👀 them on-foot, and also the interesting/intricate Salewa insoles and how they work to tweak the fitment 👣. For some reason, no one ever mentions overall Fitment regarding footwear, and to me, that's the most important thing! ✌🏻
I love these boots. Had them for over a year now and i like them better than my Salomons. Really comfortable due to custom configurable lacing system, they breathe well, protect your feet but aren't that heavy. Great ankle support even when carrying heavy loads, although i do like to use my hiking poles in that situation which helps distribute weight. Worth every penny!
Do they have a metal cap on top
@@bilipiton4950 no it's a tough toe like cap protective against small hits
How about waterproofness? i read on the internet that can be an issue with these boots. thanks!
Absolutely perfect!!🌲🌳🍁☘🌿🌾🍃🍂 get outdoors
Wow, nice channel, tnxs pal.
Ok I know they are for climbing but could you do tactical Muy Thai city street fighting with no surrender mode? Or could I 🤔 use the boots for super aerial jump kicking streetfighter techniques seen in video games?
Have a pair of the shoes but have just purchased these and am looking forward to using them. On a side note - Has anyone noticed the pyramids and sun in the background is laminate flooring, not something id usually associate with the great outdoors, It amused me is all ;-) didnt detract from the review though, great job !
Thanks for sharing!
Can i use this for spartan races and tough mudder etc?
are these true to size? i heard they fit smaller. Any advise?
Right now I have a pair of arcteryx but I don't enjoy them anymore I was considering these for fast hiking? Would you think it's a good choice or any recommendations?Thank great review
If you're looking for a technical shoe that is still geared for rocky, challenging terrain, than yes- these are great for that! Because they somewhat resemble an approach shoe, some users may find them overkill for more casual terrain.
i just received those boots, i wear them about 2 hours, i have 42 size and i bought 42.5. i loosen the lasers, my toe felt a bit num, the rest it's a strong well build shoe, i hope it will stretch a bit.
Greetings I was wondering to ask, did they stretch out, are they more open now, how is your fit and sizing experience?
I've owned 6 pairs of salewa boots for climbing at work also owned these awesome concept super light love the gator on top only wish they were more durable mine lasted 2 months not bashing salewa at all just wish they would have reinforced the lace area better
What issue did you encounter with the lace?
I don't get why manufacturers, and its not just salewa, continue to go down this route of using a channel and a thin cord/cable for the laces to pass under to tighten the shoe. Imagine half way into a trek in the middle of no where, the cord breaks (yes they will break before you ask)......you're now fxxxed until you get to civilisation.......and they are not quick and easy to fix either unlike a tradition boot with lace holes
@@samt.1369 the laces are attached to the boot with a loop and a stretchy peice of small paracord or somthing close to that, through wear and abuse that paracord broke easily 2 months and the boot feels different than the other makes a huge difference when you are climbing your foot doesn't feel as secure... I'd buy any other boot they make though the mid trainer gtx family of boot is my favorite lightweight and survives the longest with the amount of abuse I have put into them I can get 2 good years out of them before they wear out
Good to know, what a shame
just got my hands on those boots and it makes me wanna send them back because of the tinny cord, i got them new for only 120€.
What do you think about these boots being used on via ferrata?
These would certainly be a good option for climbing as they are considered an 'approach' shoe. They will also protect your feet with the front toe bumper! Thanks for watching!
Can I use these shoes even in winter snow?
They have a Gore-tex lining, so they are waterproof enough for snow, but they are not an insulated boot
Great video, but will these boots be warm in winter?
The boots are not insulated, but the 1.6mm Suede Leather and microfiber upper will keep moisture out.
@@Enwild thanks, I just bought them and they are amazing
@@karolkonieczny9130 are they true to size or snug?
Hello, Is this boot compatible with semiautomatic crampons?
We'd recommend the usage of micro spikes with these over the semi-automatics for this boot.
Very difficult to put them on, i have this model, not happy with final result!!!
Sorry they are not working out for you! Head on over to Enwild.com and check out some other models and our Gear Specialists can try to help you out!
Yeah, same with me, got to have my sweat out everytime i put my foot in it. Though have to bear with it since i really like its aggressive looks
I am not into climbing, but I am looking for a light shoe with flexibility of a running shoe and the stability + partial robustness of a hiking boot. The goal is to go backpacking in mountains and forests for photography. Would you recommend these shoes? Thank you.
These boots are incredible for a huge variety of activities, including backpacking! You may find them a tad overkill for casual hiking, but if carrying weight or traversing technical terrain, these will carry you through
@@Enwild thank you very much for the reply!
How light are they?
2 lb, 3.6 oz/pair
Seem like the ultimate boot
I love the concept of these boots but...I can only get my foot into one of them. No matter what I tried (even with advice from the manufacturer) I can’t get my left boot on. They are now paperweights.
Hmmmm.... that's a tricky one. Do you have trouble with other footwear? Barring a foot injury, it seems like they might be the wrong size if you cannot fit your left foot into them. It's tough for us to know what problem you might be experiencing without learning more about your issue. Did you by chance purchase them from us at Enwild? If so, feel free to reach out to our Gear Specialists for more advise because you might have the wrong size.
@@Enwild The one boot I am able to get on fits fine (after LOTS of struggling to get it on). The problem is that the width of the built in gator isn’t large enough for your foot to make the passage from outside into the boot interror. I emailed the maker of the boot and they indicated that they were aware “that this boot can be difficult to put on”. They gave me a suggestion but there is no way my foot is going to fit past the gator. I forget where I bought them from (I can check) I tried to return them but the website wouldn’t actually print the return authorization...If it turns out I got them from you I will let you know.
P.S. My left foot is just a tiny bit larger than my right. The right boot takes several minutes of effort to get into it (I have only been successful once), the left just won’t go. As I said the size is fine, it’s just the diameter of the gator. I imagine it’s a problem of design constraints. They have to design the gator to be small to fit tight around your ankle/leg but large enough to allow your foot to get into the shoe. I don’t think they hit the sweet spot with the design yet.
Mavrik02 Mavrik02 have you tried a shoehorn with the long handle attached? It might just give you that extra leverage to push the gator back and help your foot slip in🤔
Good luck!
i heard they fit smaller, maybe go a size up or half a size up
Is this waterproof??
The Salewa Men's Wildfire Edge Mid GTX Hiking Boot is made with a waterproof/breathable GORE-TEX membrane lining.
Where is Salewa from?
Salewa was founded in Munich Germany, in 1935!
@@Enwild natürlich!
Salewa is an italian brand.
@@Enwild Yes, but actually it is an Italian group brand.
But can you ninja kick in them? You know kick!
I sleep with mine in the box. I also hug them.
I will put a word of warning for people moving from wider boots/shoes or barefoot footwear that have a more ergonomic toebox
these boots are slim/narrow, there's good distance from the tip of the toe to the edge of the boot with a relaxed lacing, but the sides are hella tight and the sole is surprisingly stiff not just on the edging plate, even when I put an extra insole underneath the base insole (with the base being set to a wider fit)
I will say though, that these boots are very solid otherwise and feel ridiculously intuitive, even more so than my crosstraining shoes at times
For context relating to the size, for most Columbia mid sized boots, I sit at a US 10 with my shoes usually being a 10.5 or 11
I have a pair of 8" merrel tactical MOABs for cold winter (-30'C or colder) where I use 2 pairs of socks instead of one sized up to an 11.5 and it's decently good to walk in with a single sock setup or socks and footwraps despite a bit of play inside (which I'm not exactly a fan of)
I ordered my Salewas up to a US 11 and called it a day, the toe spacing was excellent, but fuck did my feet kill after walking for a bit due to the mixture of the extremely stiff sole and the really narrow design
