I can't believe they forgot footage of a dog.
+Stephen Bamford Yep

+Stephen Bamford I was going to say that they forgot about the baby. but then it showed up at the 2:20 mark.

We care about the environment
...loosely
Individuals make individual decisions that in the big picture affect the environment. To big business participation is a tax write off and to government it's lip service as a way to tax you more, and stay in power. You certainly don't need them to make your decisions for you in order for you to go your own way. We don't need virtue signaling. Put your money where your mouth is, and stop looking to someone else to do it for you. Stop trying to change everyone else, and change yourself. ruclips.net/video/XgjakekhVws/видео.html

Facebook ads in a nutshell.
NateTalksToYou mayeen
I would gladly see a generic car advertisement after this one, as they are bugging me more and more.
Let's put a white dove flying in a black room, then a young ballerina. Quick shot over a business district. There's a 0.1 second of a car being shown. Now an expensive apartment. Closeup of a guy drawing a curved line. Now a reflection of something on a reflective surface. Car's headlights. An eye. A big piece of machinery. Car's engine in a nice white room. One good shot of the advertised car, its name and that's all folks, please give us 50 thousand euros since we told you everything you had to know about this car.
Perfume adverts are way worse.
MOROSE WOMAN in BIG SWIRLY DRESS breaks a GLASS BOTTLE and walks through an EMPTY HALLWAY in an ABSTRACT MANSION ENVIRONMENT after some kind of EXPENSIVE AND LICENTIOUS PARTY has taken place. A MOROSE MAN with some FACIAL HAIR but not much in a TUX is looking at the GROUND and notices her. They leave the PARTY in a black MERCEDES and laugh. The NAME OF THE PERFUME appears on the SCREEN and a WOMAN whispers it. It probably has FRENCH UNDERTONES.
@@abigguy8364 Ahahhaha!
Perfect!
No no. Here’s what you do.
Dubstep music. A city full of life, with only one car on the streets somehow: the subject of the commercial. Wind tunnel footage of the car, except you only see the hood. A happy family in a park to show to car is “green” and cool. A teenager with the car, blissfully unaware of the crushing debt buying this car put him in, to show it’s fun. End with a night scene of the car driving from above, then looking at the front passenger’s fender, a name, a jingle, and an abrupt cut with the music echoing. Next commercial!
Thanks to the folks at Dissolve, and to Kendra for the script, and also to the music folks. The voice was mine. I loved the idea and this turned out to be a wonderful collaboration. Congrats on going viral!
Yep!
This is perfect.
This is amazing (and the video is amazing, too!)! As this is my second comment, I am focusing on additional reactions, and my reactions to those reactions. Although I haven't said much yet, I am warming up to something, maybe.
Clarity. Speaking from my perspective (rather than (over) generalizing), I have a love/hate relationship with advertising and marketing (with the disclosure that I do both of those things). On the one hand, I don't like quite a lot of the tactics and practices commonly used by advertisers and marketers (and many of the comments in this thread reflect the common perception that I am far from being alone in this sentiment, yet my mix of turn-offs is as individual as yours).
On the other hand, I am a consumer of products and services. I want to have bases to make my choices. However, wouldn't I be kidding myself if I thought that I was above (or beyond) being manipulated by advertisers and marketers? Is it a "bad" thing? Is it even avoidable?

Why. The Nukes are coming.
I know Im asking the wrong place but does any of you know of a tool to get back into an instagram account?
I was stupid lost the login password. I would love any assistance you can offer me
This was great... but now I want to see the same thing done to the MUSIC that's in those brand videos... it's always the same thing and whenever I start hearing it I want to just close the tab
this video is 7 years old yet is still 100% accurate today
Happiness and wisdom of the poor. Lol.
o inflate the glove to inflate the frog? joke
IKR XD
yep😂😂😂😂
Epically awesome, very well edited, made me smile, you guys are genius :D

"look at those farmers in China", actually they are not from China, they are from Vietnam
Vladislav Trotsenko Yup!
accurate in its own unique way, nonetheless
Just to confirm that they don't care about people, they are just props. Part of the whole joke
1:17 That should be "time lapse", not "stop motion" (although that might be part of the joke). Funny video, anyway.
I love this video so much and it makes me laugh every time! On the one hand, it is so cold and cynical, but at the same time it is superficially emotional and really well done. Epic success!!
Thank you so much, Ben!
ditto that
This video was hilarious
This is such a brilliant ad
Really nice stock footage. Great work, great job!
I can't stop sharing this! Great job Dissolve!
YES! Pull the veil back and shoot straight. Great stuff!
I absolutely love this video! Just the right balance of sarcastic humor and professional editing. Anyone in marketing should love this - and think of it every time they work on a video project.
The voice. And the whole package, really.
Hysterical. Thank you Dissolve footage! #TGIF
Bloody brill. Cannot be liked or shared or tweeted too much. Perfect collab w/ McSweeney's. LOVE.
I am currently making a mock up product page learning to code and needed a video of a product to add to it. This is the perfect video for me to use, thank you so much lol.
It's amazing how a little tomorrow can make up for a whole lot of yesterday.
I honestly think you guys unknowingly made such a fantastic case for how terrible advertising is for some of these big brand companies. It all follows a formula to make you feel safe, when really the company is anything but.
Ads are so cliched you can almost put any product on top of this video and it still works.
This video is absolutely awesome!!!! It's a powerful video about everything and nothing... and it makes me want to use Dissolve. - Never take this video down, ti's so artful and perfect.
wow.....I love your website, so many shots and videos I'll never get a chance to take!
Haha! Indeed there are many brands with such "introduction videos" that blurs their professional focus with random "inspiring" footage. Great work!
Actual tears rolling down my cheeks by the end... Thanks for reminding me not to take it too seriously...
That was fun deconstructing this style of brand videos. I think it nailed some of the big cliches or advertising points raised in some of them in a satire of them. Frankly I felt that this was pleasing too even though I laughed at some points of the narration. I just wonder if an actual ad will do something like this, or perhaps they already have done something like this.
I love the sound of bullshit in the morning.
Masterful!
Keeeeeee-yah-Stone... everything you need ..and more.
This was well put together and hilarious. The voice over guy nailed it!
OMFG i love you. This is doing service to humanity. thanks
The perfect, inspiring ad...for everyone!
Excellent, heard them play this on the audio edition of this week in Google on TWiT and it's so much more entertaining when you view it. :-)
This was everything I needed to see today. Thank you.
I can't help but smile every time I see this. Gotta love good #marketing .
Damien Franco How are you verified?
Never seen the mind of a corporate videomaker in 2:50 well explained like this...
This is the kind of snackable content that highlights our core competencies and engages consumers in a holistic, interactive environment. The ROI and conversion will be through the roof.
Why do i still feel uplifted?
Totally brilliant send-up of how deeply shallow we can be.
Oh my! I just sort of had an out of body experience of what this would look like for a Generic Church!
See, we feed hungry people and laugh together and touch bread. And we have old people and babies. Sometimes we like to work in a garden. Sometimes we walk a labyrinth. We sing too! And we hold bibles and talk to each other and have meetings. Oh my!
"Did we put a baby in here yet?"
3rd clip I watched on this channel and they are all pure genius
Never has a video summed up my feelings about today's music, movies, society... im amazingly touched, to my very heart.
It makes me definitely not want to buy your product... AWESOME!
Brilliant. I hate advertisements. Thanks you for summing up so much so concisely. Props.
This is so good. This could be just about any company, especially in technology.
Live-changing ad
Elegant and simple, good work
Gee, where have I seen this before? Very well done.
amazing, it is also fun to explore my reactions to what they show. these shots are pretty well-targeted, you know)
Yep, the perfect ad for a stock footage company. They get marketing types.
Love the voice-over too. Classic for all of those Environment-Global-Business-People ads we all ignore on TV. ;p
I believe it is time already to get this into everybody's recommendations again.
Priceless.
Well done!
Gives the low-down on advertising gimmicks.
the accuracy level is strong in this one!!
So close, but no dirt on the blue collar worker. Still really impressed by how much footage you have.
Very true...
One nitpick though... Did anyone else notice they mistakenly said stop motion instead of time-lapse?
Stop motion sounds more impressive ;-)
Brilliant!
It's like that shit Bp put out after they had the oil problem.
This is friggin brilliant!
and at the end of it, you just put ANY company logo... brilliant
Still loving it in 2018
Reminds me of the Viridian Dynamics slots on Better Off TED. Classic.
Love this!
Thanks for the wake-up slap... and a new supplier of stock video.
1.2 million in a month, nice guys and galls, you rock.
Bravo, very well done.
Love this..spot on!
SO reminds me of the commercials of middle aged guys suddenly happy and doing amazing things because they discovered some wonder pharmaceutical. Great work you guys!
This video changed my life
I have found my new go-to video to embed as an example, anywhere I possibly can >.>
Excellent video... and not inaccurate lolz
I feel like this is 100 percent pointed at GE commercials cause this immediately reminded me of them
I'm blown away... where do I buy?
If you have to ask, it's probably not for you.
+Aerodeth if you think I'm asking, it's probably for you.
The old double-flip snarkoodle. Well played, sir.
This aged remarkably well. Classic branding bullsh1ttery. Expect more woke corporate nonsense just like this.
This is my favorite video of the day.
If this is to advertise Dissolve's stock footage, yet overwhelmingly pokes fun at it, why would anyone buy it?
Especially now that those who would create similar cringe worthy ads with said stock footage, may now realise they've been schmucks this whole time haha
I thought the same thing. It'd be like if McDonald's called their customers fat in their advertisements.
Nicholas Julian Sean Marsh We didn't see it like that, but you're not the first to wonder what on earth we were thinking. It's not about the footage itself, it's about the use of it to evoke such empty platitudes. You can read our thoughts here: ideas.dissolve.com/news/this-is-a-generic-brand-video-context-is-everything
Sean Marsh they are selling to advertisement agencies, and these know exactly how it works behind the scenes :)
***** Really, only the most jaded, soulless jerk would avoid beholding sunsets, laughing babies, attractive young people, or the sight of an eagle soaring. “Too cliché for me! Give me something edgy!” :-)
This ad shows commercials that no matter how shitty and irrelevant your product is , how easy it is to make an "inspirational" ad using their footage. The bottom line is "people are as dumb as gullible, use our courage this way and they'll believe you're the greatest company in the world".
"This is some stock footage we got for ten quid."
brillaint! more stuff like this!
Hooray for Indiana! Now I feel included and therefore inclined to trust the company!
Take my money. I wanna slice of whatever that is. It looks amazing.
This video paired with the writing is brilliant.
I believe every word this ad said... because it's exactly what I wanted to hear o_o
Best marketing I've seen in a while
This my my most favorite video on the entirety of the internet. Oh my god.
Ha! Thank you!
This is a generic comment expressing how impressed I am with a video describing generic ads.
I watched this video in 2018 and two years later I need stock footage. So I searched stock footage in my YT history to find this video and give it a shot. I hope it's on budget
“There are a shit ton of people in the world, especially in India.”
Brilliant.
This video exactly explains why I hate advertisements coming up every damn 15 minutes on TV.
what a beautiful gem i have stumbled upon
This is, without a doubt, one of the funniest (and most painfully accurate) films about corporate film-making I've ever seen.
So... this is a genuine advertisement for manipulative, insincere stock footage to create more manipulative, insincere advertisements?
Well, I'm glad to know you're honest about being part of the endless, noxious sewer of advertising that has overflowed into every aspect of life.
Yeah, odd how they're pretending to criticize the very thing that they sell, profit from, encourage, and enable.
What would be your alternative solution to that?
to stop doing it would be my suggestion..it makes movies and TV unwatchable because of all the pandering and programming telling us how to think ..
There’s nothing inherently manipulative about those scenes. Here’s our take on it: ideas.dissolve.com/news/this-is-a-generic-brand-video-context-is-everything
+Dissolve
hahaha oh my god this is such a lame defence
Genius! And great music too!
Great advertising, DISSOLVE!!!
And people wonder why I quit my ad agency job.
I love this. And the points made are exactly why I quit watching tv years ago. I have Asperger's and I kept trying to tell people around me that everything on tv had the same pattern. They can't fool us all! #thebestcommercialever #truthinadvertising
I felt all the feels... please direct me to where I can buy something ASAP!
