I actually, REMEMBER, watching that live,.... I had seen the Matt Foley skits before.... and as SOON as he said, I awoke with a quiver, I BURST out laughing!! I KNEW he’d follow it up with living down by the river.... I ❤️Chris Farley!🇨🇦🇨🇦

Part of Farley's genius is that as out of breath as he was cuz he was out of shape, obviously, he knew how to use it to his comedic advantage. To me that's a huge talent and a testament as to his greatness. Rest in peace, man. You sure as hell are missed.
Yes, in fact Chris Farley encapsulated the whole idea of comedy; for people to look at themselves and life and not take it all too seriously.

He was fat but surprisingly athletic
He was a master of delivery. He could take material that wasn't that funny on its own and make it gut busting hysterical with his insane delivery.

Could not agree with you more. Especially Hartman probably the most underrated cast member ever on SNL. I'm still shocked that news radio wasn't more popular than it was because that cast and especially Hartman was just genius.

He was Nd still is my all time favorite comedian.
Even the newest generation of kids think he is hilarious. This is not common as generational drift usually occurs. He helped me through my depression many times.

I know the real Matt Foley. Father Matt, actually. They met in college and were friends till Chris' passing. Two very different men stayed best friends through it all. ❤🙏🏼

This is the best Matt Foley sketch in my opinion. The first one with Christina Applegate is more iconic but this one is funnier.

Probably bc to a kid he is almost borderline scary. Imagine a giant fat dude five times your size screaming in your face, I'd be a bit nervous even if someone had reassured me beforehand it was a comedy bit.

@@kaio7671 Yeah, MAtt Foley is one of the greatest skits ever. There was also a skit from 1992 with some guy who was a very homosexual self-healer who was corrupt. I forget his name, but he was hilarious! He said "Everybody should get together in the world and collect money...and give it to me!", but I just haven't seen it in over 30 years on SNL.

Phil never breaks character. I don’t even think he was capable of doing that. He was that good. He and Farley were some of the best to ever do it in my generation. Wish they were both still with us here today. ❤️
