    Farley's comedic timing is what is probably his most underrated asset. Just look at how absolutely perfect he was at 1:35. They probably didn't event rehearse this, either because Chris was such a good improvisational actor.

      How is anything about Chris Farley "underrated"? What is that, some new word you learned yesterday and now you're compelled to find new ways to use it, appropriate or not? Did you look it up first? Do you ever think about what you're saying before you say it? Do you think you're the only person who noticed Farley's timing along with the rest of his skills? Underrated? Farley was a beloved, talented, unique, and renowned comic. "Comedic timing" is what makes any good comic, great comics ALL have great comedic timing, you can't separate that trait from the rest of the talent because without it you don't have any talent at all. Are you the only person on the planet that doesn't get that the rest of us are well aware of Farley's comedic timing along with the rest of his skills? I think your grasp of the English language is overrated. Your comment is absurd and an insult to Farley's legacy.

    • @outerrealm
      @outerrealm 7 месяцев назад

      He appeared perfectly timed at 1:35 largely because Max is a top drummer and able to respond instantly to any cue like the one when Chris points at the spot you're referring to. Max has to catch every cue that Bruce Springsteen gives him all night for 4 hours a night, every gesture. They do in fact rehearse these beforehand. I've been to a Conan show. I'm also in the music/entertainment business (45 years). Much of this is improv, but Max was on high alert for his own cues.

      I feel the same way. Seeing this video is very uncomfortable. Mr. Farley clearly was an extremely talented performer who knew exactly how to make an audience roar with laughter. But it is also just as clear that he was very ambivalent about that comedy. I think he craved the laughter and the attention, but also felt shame at the manner in which he got that laughter. The downward eyes while saying things like "how dumb I am" and "hose tubby off" betrays his inner thoughts.

    It's kind of striking how green Conan is. Interviewing someone when you have to stick to time and probably questions they were already asked and make it seem like a natural conversation is far from the easiest thing in the world and you can see how it seems like he's sticking closer to a script and he's a little tentative when asking questions. Now he's considered one of the greats and even has a podcast that is all interview. What a difference 30 years makes.

    Chris Farley's 'Matt Foley' character was perhaps one of the few comedic acts (back in the day) that actually made me *_'laugh-out-loud';_* his originality was incomparable, and he was truly a class act in his own right. I actually find myself missing and relating to Chris in a unique sort of way, as - fully understanding the idea of [mock] character-creation/impersonation in my younger years - I had that same [natural] ability to make others (friends/family) laugh, simply through [observed] imitation of stereotypical 'stock characters'; but unlike Farley, never got serious with the idea ... I'm sure Farley's iconic comic uniqueness and greatness will live on for many - including those aspiring future comics - years to come.

    Growing up in the 80s and 90s I lived through a number of incredible performers and some untimely deaths. Chris was the funniest in a group of funny guys and his death hurt unlike any other celebrity death ever has, except maybe John Candy, and for similar reasons: they were both extremely lovable and I only have fond memories when I see them. Thanks for the laughs, Chris

    God bless Chris for his efforts, he was literally killing himself, and dying, while doing this skit.

      @@questionauthority7377if his brain is underrated then you’re saying he’s smarter than we think?
