Last year, I made the switch from Maschine to Live, here's a little comparison I can give
    The pros for Maschine were:
    - The great integration of all Native Instruments plugins and hardware. It was seemless, NI really know how to create a good ecosystem.
    - Some of the stock plugins work amazingly well. Never have I heard a better stock plugin than the built-in grain delay that Maschine offers.
    - Exporting separate tracks is much more intuitive than in Live.
    The cons, oh boy:
    - It fails as a DAW. It's essentially a glorified loop station. Automating in song mode is just not an option, as the automations you apply, only work on pattern level.
    - The extent to which it supports 3rd party plugins, can cause headaches sometimes.
    - The sampling you showed can be done quicker in Live, both Live and Maschine have hardware that enables quick slicing.
    - The way you record external audio in Maschine is archaic at best.
    - Maschine is just extremely poorly optimized, once you start creating a heavily layered project, it's more prone to crashing than actual DAWs.
Maschine is really handy as a plug-in in another DAW, and does indeed allow for quick beat building, but I would never replace a proper DAW with it, because it's too limited.

I used Maschine until its encoder stared to send random signals (the resisatnce dropped after a few month
). The negative thing about Maschien is that it doent compensate plugin latencies, so anything needs mto be resampled to make things tight or use plugins without latencies. Another negative thing of Maschine is that its GUI is calculated on teh CPU.

Maschine Software 3.0 .MP3 support .SF2 support audio tracks unlimited, stem separation.
What NI should do is bring back their whole line of Maschine products like they had in the past this is why Akai is winning or is ahead of the game.
Maschine studio Plus give it dual flip up touch screens (nice to have that option but still have all the buttons as usual) where you can flip up the screens individually or one long screen that flips up like on their S series controllers, 8 outs 2 xlr combo inputs with 48v phantom power for condenser mics 4 1/4 inch inputs, phono inputs, CV outs 8. Stem separation, full intergration of certain Komplete and Isotope instruments, with sound design capabilities, all the things the current Maschine has, MP3 support .SF2 support, 10 audio tracks, vocal suite, internal HDD front SD card slot, 4 midi puts 2 midi inputs, 16gb Ram.
Maschine Plus MK2 1XLR combo mic input, phono in, put 4 1/4 out puts, 2 1/4 inputs, HDD, Battery option, 8 audio tracks, 8GB Ram. 4CV gate outs , Flip up screen touch. 2midi ins 2midi outs, .MP3 .SF2
Maschine MK4 every output, and input of the Maschine Plus MK 2 1XLR combo mic input phono input 4CV gate outs, Unlimited audio tracks because it tethered to computer. SD card slot
Maschine Mikro plus 2ins 2outs, mic input, 1 midi in 1 midi out, phono input, SD card slot (Just a thought) or just regular mikro with 2ins 2outs 1mic input phono input.
Maschine Jam Plus Truely a live stand alone live performance instrument 2 XLR mic inputs 48v phantom power, 4 1/4 inputs 4 1/4 outputs HDD, Battery option, 8 audio tracks, 8gb Ram, phono input, cross fader that actually let you scratch incoming audio .wav .mp3 file. oh yes don't forget the screens.

Maschine 2 is awesome, but it looks a bit too awesome when you lay things down perfectly in one shot. You should show as well how much it sucks when you want to correct mistakes or move things around. In general I agree though. It's a nice piece of software.

A little suggestion to have a look at Maschine workflow. The way you use it is a little bit strange. There are many things you can do differently from how you do it (see using Scenes, patterns instead of clips…and others). Oh…and to slice a sample, you don’t need to hit record.
That said, maybe you use it like this because it fits better to you…but my impression is that you stocked to the first things you learned without checking deeper

Maschine is capable of far more than making loops and beats. The 'totally useless as s daw'-comments here are a bit unfair I think. Maschine does do things differently than other daws. Song automation, for instance, can be done via clips.
For me, Maschine is the perfect daw for making / composing music (indiei'sch pop/rock/singer-songwriter stuff that is, for me). It is so immiment and inspirational. I also record vocals anf guitars with it, no problem. Use the groups as busses. Gate mode for audiotracks is awesome in finding out what works in a song / melody.
For final mixing and mastering, i"d export to Studio One 6, with Softube Console 1.
The tools we have today, amazing! Something's only useless when you make no use of it.

Great review and explanation! (I left Logic too, tried Waveform Traction, then Maschine Micro and now landed on SeratoStudio as it works like a Maschine but without a hardware just on my laptop, and adding a DJ controller gives me the Maschine hardware feel for when I want it.) ..... you should make a video answer my 5 reasons why I left Maschine: ruclips.net/video/TQmkP8zMRzM/видео.html

I could never use Maschine. It is a static Tempo/Meter Change device. If you are into beats tho - it's cool. But not meant for serious composition. It has zero ability to do tempo & meter changes within a composition. Sorry buts that a no for me.
    My Maschine is collecting dust.
I thought that it would be useful. After I thoroughly went through it , i noticed that it is not faster at beat-making than my DAW: Q-Base. So, i just work with Q-Base bc I can manipulate my Tempos & Time Signatures and naturally adjust loops/samples w/time stretching on the fly.
Maschine does have great expansions. But I'm a Composer, & I don't like to write 'Static-Tempo' music.

    • @BlackBeltTitus
      @BlackBeltTitus  3 месяца назад +2

Yeah it really depends on your preferences. For me, I love loop based be eat making. But I know cube base is super clutch for tempo, switches, and stuff. If you say you’re a composer, then yes, machine probably wouldn’t suit all your needs but for my purposes it definitely does the job!!!

To me, finishing stuff in Maschine is a chore compared to working in Ableton Live. Lots of things that don't work as you'd expect it from experience with other DAWs, so many basic features are still missing 15 years after v1.0 and development is basically dead with 1 or 2 new features every 5 years or so (if any). Still regret buying this thing.
If you want a real DAW try live and if you need a controller, get yourself a Push as well.

Seems cool for writing ideas and doing loop based stuff, but this is no where near an actual DAW. If you're making complex genres this thing would be totally useless except for maybe writing the drums.

Maschine is not a DAW. It is not advertised as a DAW by Native Instruments. It has never been advertised as a DAW. That being said, it is an amazing hardware and software application to compose beats and song ideas with. But you will absolutely need a DAW to finish a song with vocals and all that.

Strictly speaking, Maschine 2 IS a DAW - they just don’t call it one.
The combination of hardware and software is merely redefining what used to be hardware based - desks, outboard - to software i.e plugins to what is now a combination of both which you can also use standalone.
Pro Tools Intro (for example) is classed as a DAW and I’m pretty sure Maschine 2 can everything it can do and more…. 🤔
