It would be dope if NI did get Maschine as a full DAW. It would make everything NI a one stop shop. Do the entire session in NI assuming the DAW will be equipped with full mixing capabilities. Hopefully NI goes in that direction.

I don’t want a full DAW I want some stuff refined like how the library works with user sounds and settings. I want to preset the sampler before I sample ( you use to be able to do that in 1.5) resample in mono ( once again 1.5 did this ) and I want to dither down and up sample my sounds too

I am looking forward to the fact that NI has not updated the maschine software for ten years because they are designing a complete DAW, not just for the maschine, but a real DAW. If NI makes a complete DAW that can be fully controlled by the maschine and their midi keyboard, and the functions of this DAW in arranging, mixing, and recording can be as smooth as Ableton or Logic, I will not hesitate to sell my newly bought Ableton Push3 and the midi keyboard I have used for two years, uninstall all other DAWs on my computer, and then I will buy all their hardware, as well as all the NI plug-ins I will use. If that day really comes, I can't imagine how excited I will be.

Specially now they own iZotop and PluggingAlliance/Brainworx, They will be unstoppable easily! But I don’t why disappointing all fan! And me first this not the directions they are taking right! The new keyboard it even NOT integrated to Maschine2 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️

I’ve been questioning wether to get a Digitakt or MPC instead. I own a mk3 but want to go stand-alone, and for how much the Plus still costs, I can get an Mpc one new for less, or a second hand mpc live, or the Digitakt.
The only issue is I worry about going back to complete beginner again with a new instrument as I really like and am used to Maschine workflow.
I can’t decide. It’s annoying as I know that there must be the correct choice, that will take my music to the next level, but I just don’t know and can’t try either out before buying so it’s either take the risk and buy the mpc or Digitakt, or stay with Maschine and spend more money for the plus.

I just wish there was a much more straight forward workflow of intergrating Maschine into Logic.
I want each part as it's own track. It's easy enough to get audio tracks done, but with MIDI, the routing and stuff can get well hectic.
I will start a beat in Maschine, and then want to carry on with it in Logic but the workflow is no wherer near as good as it should be.
I hope if Native Instruments ever update Maschine software, or bring out a mk4, I really hope it has better Integration with Logic, and I hope the mk4 will have standalone option also, and multiple MIDI 5 pin DIN outs.

I agree. Maschine has so much untapped potential. I'm a pro tools and logic user, but Maschines ability to quickly record ideas into a full track is beyond any DAW i've ever used. But when it comes to mixing and editing, Maschine is basically useless. The automation is terrible and the integration with any DAW is a clunky nightmare. I really hope they find a way to seamlessly integrate Maschines workflow into a useable plugin without all the latency and tedious routing. Fingers crossed!

Hi I agree with you on quite a few items here and would like to see the sampler have more functionality as my mixer I/O goes into it, but find it very buggy…and doesn’t record properly sometimes , the arranger could do with a chord track feature also, I do love the Chord Mode on the Maschine , I’ve also sat for 3 years now with NI Daw to get my head around it, and trying get off using the mainstream DAWs…Mainly Studio 1 6.5 as I’ve been with them since day one, but due to Fender take over I’m not now so keen to stay loyal due to way its pricing is going etc. especially for long term users like myself, So big huge YES for Ni and moving on up with a more featured DAW , I would go back to Logic which also I’ve slowly moved away from, but Logics future is looking awesome especially with all the AI software recently…BASS KEYS DRUMMER…incredible indeed. What keeps me with Ni nowadays is the Maschine mk 3 - S88 Keys and Jam….and not to mention their sound libraries, untouchable as far as im concerned and just gets better. Love the tactile control of their hardware and hope this won’t ever drop, fingers crossed on an upgraded DAW Ni…don’t take away anything that’s there tho…and the same for Maschine mk 3, just keep getting better as it has done over the years. You're right about the "they got comfortable" bit. In the last few years there had not been a mentionable innovation in the Maschine 2.0 software. Some DAW like functionalities would be greatly appreciated. Not too much though, because the simplicity and speedy workflow are one of Machine's strong points. The lack of MP3 support is very unfortunate indeed, however thank God most if not all samples on Splice are wavs. I dunno from where you got the idea that most samples on Splice are MP3s, because they are not.

Maschine software workflow is still confusing me a little bit and I need to get used to it, including naming convension ( I've just got bought Maschine Mikro). However what most annoys me is that I'm limited with using my lauchpad with Maschine 2.0 soft and Maschine Mikro with Ableton. I know I can do that somehow with some scripts, but I would like to have it working right away. I even dont want to have all features available on given midi controller, but at least some of them.

  • @CrankyOldNerd
    @CrankyOldNerd Месяц назад

Interesting Idea. I was surprised to hear you say you wanted to import and drop mp3 files onto your projects. I wouldn't want to do that because now you have compressed (lossy) things in your project, and then if you encode it you double compress (lossy) when you go to MP3. I'd want to trade wav's for that reason. Sure they're bigger, but that's cuz they're not compressed (lossy). Unless I'm missing something as I'm no expert, just a < year machine user.
I have often wondered how Maschine works compared to Logic/Ableton. You build all these patterns, but they're recorded by the DAW as a single instrument? (haven't done a lot of it so I may not know some things) seemed weird workflow.
I know in my reading on the community forum they have said they are resource constrained, and that's why they're slow to support new Mac OS revisions. I'd hate for them to start work on a DAW and further constrain their resources though. That'd mean Mashine the DAW would need to generate its own income to fund a team, and all the machine users probably wouldn't be happy about a $300-$1100 cost for something they need to make their hardware work?
Interesting idea though definitely. Guess we'll hear what they have planned one day :)

Native instruments have not focused on being a daw because there are so many others out there.
I'm sure they could produce one if they wanted to, but it would come at the cost of attention to their sweet spot, which is actual sound. Instead, they've focused on sound production, which is something so many others cannot compete with.
It clearly is part of their strategy to work this way. Otherwise, they would have done it.

I don't understand the desire for users to have a Native Instruments DAW, when the majority are complaining about current software limitations of the and lack of updates; as if NI drops a full-on DAW, these shortcomings will, suddenly, cease to exist. Maschine is a sampler/groovebox, much like the MPC, SP-404, Digitakt, etc. You wouldn't expect those companies to release a fully-fledged DAW, though. "But Maschine (w/the exception of Maschine+) is NOT standalone, unlike those devices"......So what? The concept is the same. Create songs in the box, then finish them in a DAW. If Native Instruments were to ever create a DAW, it would be half-baked and limited. There are plenty of DAWs out there (that have gone through decades of development) to choose from. Just my opinion, of course, and I realize people have different use cases for Maschine than I do.
