i have missed your building vids and glad to see this one posted. Very sorry for your loss. i lost my mum in 2013 and still miss her every day, even though i am a grown man.
Yes same here! I lost my Dad back in 2007 and now my Mom in 2022. I am their only child and it was pretty difficult trying to manage it all. I am almost 50 years old and thank God for my wife and children for all the support for I would have just went crazy if I were by myself. Anyhow life goes on and time to get back to it and all it's perks.
My condolences on the great loss of your mother. Excellent construction, the P-51D for me is the most beautiful plane that exists, so I'll be waiting for your next videos. Greetings from Argentina.
Mike, for you to be a care giver to your mom is something you can be very proud of, and she passed knowing that she had the best love, and the best care that a son could give. Good to see that you are back on the Mustang again, and to the point of Monokote, or Chinakote, verses glass and paint, my request would be for you to consider what the estimated weight difference would be, given that different colors of iron on covering weigh different amounts per square foot.
Sorry to hear about your loss Mike. I"m glad you took time off to take care of the important things. I'm sure your mom really appreciated you being by her side during that time. We were always going to be here when you got back.
First, sorry for your loss of your mom. My father passed when I was 7 and my mom was the world to me. She passed unexpectedly when I was 24. At 51 I'm still not over it. I was stationed in Japan in the early 90's and went to Guam for some R&R. I went to a bar called Wet Willy's on the beach and had a blast. Is it still there? Guam was beautiful! If I can find (and afford) either a TF P-51 or P-40 gold kit I'm going to use your videos for reference. I've watched them all and looking forward to more.
Sorry to hear about your parents as well. I think Wet Willy's is no called the Beach Bar. You should checkout planesgoneby.com/ They are reproducing the Gold Edition Top Flite Kits and has a few already kitted and for sale. Thanks for the kind words for my Mom and thank you for watching my videos I appreciate you and a warm Hafa Adai from Guam.
Hi Mike, My sincere condolences with the loss of your dear mother. I know from previous videos and comments you were doing all you could to support and care for her. All the best my friend.
@@BayonasRCWorld, have you managed to progress building the Mustang? My build is very slow, I've not touched it for months, finally started the fuselage this past weekend.
Unfortunately I have not really gotten back to building the P51D Mustang or the DC3. I will definitely try and get back into the builds once things start turning around on my end.
@@BayonasRCWorld how are you getting on? How's the mustang progressing. Mine went on hold for a bit of prep across my fleet , getting ready for better flying weather.
My sincerest condolences, Sir. I play a lot of these videos as I’m working. After a meeting, I replayed it to watch in detail and saw your 24 Dec 2022 comment. Very sad to read that, Brother.
Awesome thanks for sharing the details. The more details the better. Looks to me like rocket science. Hope that you have another video for other versions which comes already glued and covered. Those looked to me as really tough till I saw your video of building from scratch. I wonder if you fly your airplanes too ! Would be so nice that for link all products in the description including the glue and tools used.
Thank you. Yes I fly every build that I do. Been building and flying since 1982. I will take note of adding a materials list in my descriptions moving forward I think that is a great idea.
@@BayonasRCWorld thank you so much. Really enjoying seeing your videos. Best of luck. Btw I have the same one, but got it ARF and the hobby shop mounted 20cc gas , etc.
Dont make the same mistake I did when I glued F-1B from the wrong side and it reversed my thrust angle. I didn't catch until I mounted my spinner to the engine. I corrected it with engine mount washers.
I always double and triple check before I glue things together. I also always do mock ups when feasible all precautionary measures before I set things permanently. I have had my fair share of oops that's for sure and during a build it could be very frustrating to say the least. Thanks for the lookout for sure!
Much appreciated 🙏 as far as the build I haven't gotten back to it just yet. I tried then things happened. At that time we got hit by Super Typhoon Mawar. I will get back to the build for sure.
All depends as to what transpires throughout the sale of my home and property here on Guam. I am and have been preparing to sale my home here and relocate back Stateside probably in Texas. So I still have the P51 and DC3 that I basically placed on hold right when my mother passed away. I had a few attempts to get started but kept getting pulled in all directions. So if I sell my home before I start back on the build I will definitely start back on it once I settle my family and I Stateside. I might just start all over with another kit and continue the build series where I left off or take the current kit unfinished model with me. Only time will tell! Just settling with a few home issues and then my realtors takes it from there.
Hey brother if you can get them the Sierra retracts are better quality and have a much more positive trunion lock. You can also go cheap and get the pboenix models retracts they are much cheaper and look good and work just as well if you ask me. The cattelac of retracts though is the electron retracts. They have the best craftsmanship in my opinion.
If only Sierra had retracts for the 1/7th scale P51 but unfortunately they don't make them. I had inquired ever since I was building my P40E Warhawk since I had purchased 100deg rotating retracts from them for the P40 and love it more than Robarts.
@@BayonasRCWorld I have the tail feathers finished and started covering the wing but not finished. That's as far as I've gotten with it. It's been some years since I last worked on it as life got in the way.
Awesome man. I started at the same time you did, but dont have that much time to build. I had just finished the fuselage assembly when you put this video up. I have the P51B kit. Was also debating FG21 or DLE20 but after hearing absolutely so much good stuff about the DLE20 I went ahead and got 1. Decited to monokote as well. Did you figure out how you want to do it ?
building with ca is not to good as it does not soak in the wood to well and does give you time to make any adjustments wood glue is better alphetic is the bets
I have been building with CA for over 40 years and have built with Titebond as well. All depends what I am after especially in time my go to is always CA's and Epoxy. I have NEVER had a plane break apart on me EVER.
You can find this model today in the Facebook groups if you just ask around. Also ebay if you are willing to do the bidding war for the model. Planesgoneby.com has been recreating these models so you can give them a try as well.
So sorry for your loss, I pray for you and your family. great to see you!
Thank you very much and truly appreciate you. 🙏
Condolences to you. It’s very hard to loose mom. My mom passed away in 2015 and still miss her to this day.
Thank you

Awesome
My first build was the sig four star 40. Built in on a card table with a bow in it. The wings were horribly bowed. Still flew fine, lol

Just wondering if you had a paint scheme for the p51 yet . My self I would go with the red tail paint . So have fun
So many and wish I could just pick them all. We will see what I decide when that day comes
Mike what do use for a building board. I really enjoy watching you picking up some good points take care 😊
My building table consist of a solid wood counter top from Home Depot and on top of it lays 5/8" drywall sheet

I hear you on that
look around for the Kilo scale exhaust for this model and the DA 50
This is the 1/7th scale not giant scale.
Hi my friend,finish the P-51 please.😃
Will you glassing this model so you can put those WWII details?
I am leaning towards glassing it just for the sole purpose of adding all the details.

Yeah I am planning on Saito FG21 and glassing.
That's going to be so nice. Looking forward to seeing every minute. Thanks for helping ! @Bayona's RC World
What were some of your thoughts about going with the SG21 ?
For one main reason was the 4 stroke sound plus the benefits of a 20.91cc engine.
I build this plane too gun fighter theme lost it after 12 fights try low level gun runs engine stalled totaling it 😢
Oh man that sucks!
I built this 2 years ago and converted it to electric
Nice! I am more of a gas engine type of guy and electric for just a few of my planes.
Don’t ruin it with the Miss America livery! I beg you!
No not going with that Livery.
How much money is that
The kit was a gift from a friend. However I have seen these rare kits selling around $350 up to $475
