Hi Bernadette! Thanks for the tip.. we will definitely check it out. We do plan to leave patches of native bush but having said that we have to clear parts of it because of the high risk of fires here in portugal. It's an amazing price until you need to sell it. Land like that in Portugal can be very difficult to sell. Buying like that is not something you should do unless you're very sure of your goals.
Wow that really is a amazing price! Me the wife and kids are thinking of moving from the uk to start a new life in portugal. Can you explain the legality of the ruins to renovate? We get so many agents are all yes men! They seem to say what we wanna hear rather than truth! I’ve heard even pre 1951 ruins without a roof can’t be renovated. What’s the likelihood of getting planning for the buildings you have?
Hi Alexander yes they all do tell you what you want to hear that is why it is so important to get a lawyer. We had a search done and had signed a contract to say that if we were not able to get a habitation licence on the ruin then we were not going to buy it so that was our condition for the sale to go through , and got a confirmation letter that the ruin was built before 1951 and therefore once we apply for a permit and put in a plan with the architect we can go ahead and start work on it. Having a lawyer to translate all the paperwork and look after your best interests is so important . I wish you and your family the best of luck
My advice don't rush. One tends to rush after deciding to buy thinking someone else will grab it before I do. 80%, it will stay till you make the required inquiries. Municipality local is the right place to go.

Great stuff! And you really got a good deal on such a huge land! Congrats! One small observation, I'm not sure if anybody else noticed it, but... You should let Sarah speak a bit more. I've noticed that you cut her off in the middle of the sentence very often. Your channel name suggests it's 'Luke and Sarah' not 'mostly Luke'. No hate or anything, just a small observation. Congrats again on your land and I will be coming back to check the progress on your dream life as I'm slowly preparing to make the move and leave the boring corporate life and start something more meaningful and sustainable!
malta and portugal have in common emigration, 17h is really big, if it is in castelo branco, as it seems due to view, landscape, it is nice, because there are more people like you there, im from the border with galicia, and 17h is really huge for us.
im not sure, if the cultural background of that regions is colletivist, the south, alentejo it is, the north and most part of the center, is not, it in individualistic, prone to praise authority and not egalitarian, it is a old german heritage, sueves.
You can start a tourism business by little investment such as “glamping”, all you have to do is build some basic huts to shelter from weather, with water supply. I,m sure tourists would love to spend their camping style holidays by bringing their own car vans aswell. I will definitely 💓
Yes Khris, there is property tax but ours is still negligible but once we rebuild the ruin they will come and inspect the property and come and put a new value on it
Sorry guys, can I ask Central Portugal, is Pedrogrão Grande, or Castelo Branco? ... I am looking not so big, but a little piece of land... if you know something please let me know. Thank You and Congratulations!!

Wonderful and inspirational. Would love to come over with my family as WWOOFers from UK. What a beautiful life 💫♾💫
Hi MoonGoddess.. we do plan to start getting some help like that..eventually lol want to be a bit better set up first.
Hi guys... Really nice piece of land, so beautiful 😍 my husband is up in the air at the moment and will land in Porto soon... I'm curious what is going to discover... A little bit sad we can't do it together... But hopefully we will find a nice piece as yours 👌
Thanks Carole, That is a pity but maybe you can come with him next time round and find someone to take care of your restaurant...I wish him the best of luck on the property hunt
Very interesting sir and madam. I hope that one one dayI shall come to join you there in that beautiful country.
Good luck with your future plans Altaf😁
Pedal washing machine! nice one
Amazing plot. Nice video, well done. I live in southern France... Portugal seems so cheap - let alone compared to our house in the uk! Couldn’t put a garage for what you paid! Look fw to your journey
Thanks Paul ,yes we could never have a place like this in our home country . We are so happy to be here 😃
Don't worry .learn by doing
Great stuff! And you really got a good deal on such a huge land! Congrats! One small observation, I'm not sure if anybody else noticed it, but... You should let Sarah speak a bit more. I've noticed that you cut her off in the middle of the sentence very often. Your channel name suggests it's 'Luke and Sarah' not 'mostly Luke'. No hate or anything, just a small observation. Congrats again on your land and I will be coming back to check the progress on your dream life as I'm slowly preparing to make the move and leave the boring corporate life and start something more meaningful and sustainable!
Thanks for the feedback and you are obviously 100% right. Such a terrible bad habit of mine. Was aware of it and am trying not to do it anymore. ❤
Just discovered your channel today, happy to follow you... Where are you from? Greetings from Italy
Hi Kris! We are from Malta!
your oak trees look beautiful!
Thank you!
malta and portugal have in common emigration, 17h is really big, if it is in castelo branco, as it seems due to view, landscape, it is nice, because there are more people like you there, im from the border with galicia, and 17h is really huge for us.
im not sure, if the cultural background of that regions is colletivist, the south, alentejo it is, the north and most part of the center, is not, it in individualistic, prone to praise authority and not egalitarian, it is a old german heritage, sueves.
You can start a tourism business by little investment such as “glamping”, all you have to do is build some basic huts to shelter from weather, with water supply. I,m sure tourists would love to spend their camping style holidays by bringing their own car vans aswell. I will definitely 💓
That's a great idea for the future ! But everything needs more money than we have at the moment😁
Hi you seem like a great couple and we have similar dreams but you are fortunately younger. What part of Portugal do you live in.
Hi.. we are in castelo branch region, central portugal
Love you guys. Keep it up. I would like to emulate you one day
Thanks DJ 😁 have a Great Sunday
Hi guys! Congrats! Great video, are there any yearly costs? like property tax or the like?
Yes Khris, there is property tax but ours is still negligible but once we rebuild the ruin they will come and inspect the property and come and put a new value on it
Sorry guys, can I ask Central Portugal, is Pedrogrão Grande, or Castelo Branco? ... I am looking not so big, but a little piece of land... if you know something please let me know.
Thank You and Congratulations!!
They are both in Central Portugal you can look on pure portugal or facebook groups of the area you are interested in like the group castelo branco district and around, Ling Immobilaria and Espacos are also good estate agents for Castelo Branco ..Good luck with the hunt
Thank you!!!
