A couple pointers. 1- be prepared for 50 and maybe even 75 yrd shots 2-wear knee pads and cleats or good hiker shoes if you have them. 3- add at least 100 to 200 rds over what ever the match says it takes as you may have reshoots or even a shoot off. 4- take lots of water and even an umbrella for shade if it’s hot. 5- have a mag brush so you can clean dirt out of your mags between stages. And have a shop rag or two. As for holsters any holster you have will work as long as you can run & jump , etc without your pistol falling out. Have fun my friend!! Can’t wait to hear how you do and how you liked it.
I am so stoked for you. I used to shoot USPSA , IDPA , steel challenges, Glock matches , bowling pin matches, 2 & 3 gun matches, a lot. Every weekend I was shooting some sort of match. I even shot a lot of area 1 & 2 matches , many state matches , regional & even a national match. It was so much fun. I only stopped because I had amazing kids to raise and other life hurdles. I am a little bummed because I never made my grand master level , but I was a solid master class shooter. Now I would be lucky to make A or B class. Lol. Sucks getting older. lol. I will say this if you keep competing it will make you quick & proficient with your weapons. And it’s a ton of fun.
