Reminds me of hearing another exchange student explain to a local Chinese that he was in the PRC studying “putonghua”, but mangled the tones so badly that his counterpart thought he was saying “[wo] bu dong [ni de] hua” (I can’t understand you), and just nodded sympathetically and wandered off.
This is so funny! I knew this song because I live in Canada and we go to a Chinese and English school, so we always talk in English and our Chinese teacher felt like we needed a song like this, so our Chinese Teacher made us learn this song.
