I haven't read all the 700+ comments, but I bet someone else also noticed that in Lidl's you were comparing a mismarked product to the one from Waitrose. It was a price tag for Cadbury's. As a Berliner living in the Midlands I totally feel you. Doing exactly the same shopping rounds and finding lots of German products in the UK. With the price increase in Germany I sometimes find products even cheaper in the UK. We eat a lot of international food at home and I totally love the diversity in the UK. There is so much choice from all over the word what a joy. Nice video and my favorite is also Rum Traube Nuss : ))

Very interesting video! As you know Nutella is actually italian, even if it is produced in several countries, as many big brands do. His inventor was Michele Ferrero (the one of the famous brand of chocolate products) and was from northwestern Italy. Kinder is Ferrero as well and even if some products of this brand have non-italian names (Mon Chéri is a french name, Kinder is a german word, Pocket Coffee is english etc.), they are all italian products of Ferrero. We often did our shopping at Waitrose' s - I loved that shop and they sold German bread; occasionally I had to have 'my' bread. But I must say I admire the way the Brits respect old things like cottages, furniture, household items - pottery/china/wallpaper . . . Thank you for your lovely films ! ! !
Aww thank you! Was a bit nervous because some weeks ago we had to leave a beautiful antique store where we wanted to film but they didn't want us to. We weren't treated really nicely which is why I felt nervous.
Love this video. Here in Texas there is a lot of German towns and I go to Fredricksberg and go to the deli and smoke house and get sausages and sauerkraut. There is a Germ as n bakery which order my desserts. I have German heritage. Love what you share. Thank you. Love from Texas 🤠❤❤❤❤
When I was little we had frequent holidays in Germany (Schleswig Holstein) and my German mum always took over jars of Robertson’s Mincemeat and made mince pies which she would serve to our German relatives with Birds Custard. Oh, and Christmas Pudding - in August! Our extended family all seemed to enjoy the curious English delicacies!

Thank you for the shopping trip. I'm American and also American Indian/Native. I have an interest in foods that are indigenous to the New World (North, Central and South American continents). I'm not sure if you know that chocolate is originally from Central America and has been used as a drink for 4,000 years. It was brought to Europe by Spanish explorer, Hernan Cortez in the 1500's. So many European companies have made wonderful chocolate products for years. Definitely one of my favorite foods :)

Thanks so much! We mostly take scones or clotted cream with us though we prefer homemade scones (so easy anyway) and my dad loves trying the beer here so we always bring some bottles too.

We both work - I do RUclips full time so basically sit in front of my laptop editing and everything that evolves around of being self-employed so extremely boring for content and Joerg works full time as well. We film the content on weekends. We don't live in Chester anymore I'm afraid, we live in a small village which we don't share on RUclips.

Lovely to see German products in shops, I am originally from Poland so the foods are similar, you can also use curd cheese if you can't get quark, curd cheese is a thicker and drier version of cottage cheese if anyone hasn't heard of it. Rittersport chocolate......the milk chocolate one is my favourite, aldi used to sell mini ones, don't know if they still do.

Oh my gosh! As an American I'm shocked by how cheap everything was! We can get (just about) everything you bought here, but many things, especially the meats, would be at least a third more. Some even double the cost or more! Sauerkraut is always available where I'm from. In a plastic bag, jar or can. Sweet, sour, spiced with fennel or dill... Green or purple. Most hotdog (wiener) stands have it as a condiment. I love all the German products Aldi carries especially at Christmas time. We pay 25 cents for a cart at Aldi. I think that genius. I love German wine! Our Michigan wineries grow many German varietals. Our climate is similar I guess. Thanks for sharing. It was so interesting! ❤

I use to work at Lidl head office when they had offices in Wimbledon Village. The director was German and he would walk round all the different departments handing out German chocolates 😂 I got to try so many German foods. I loved this video. Brought back a lot of memories of both the British Grocers and the wonderful German products as we lived in both countries. We miss how much less expensive groceries are in the UK and Europe than here in the USA. The products are so much better there. We also miss all the yummy chocolates. If I remember correctly Aldi or Lidl in Germany used to carry some delicious frozen pretzels and included the salt in little packets. The kids would love these for an after school snack. I like this! I always go to Lidl first, then elsewhere (Aldi, M&S, Waitross, Tesco) after to find anything I missed. Waitross is always more expensive. It’s nice to see what you buy. TFS.

I do so enjoy watching your videos. I lived for most of my life a few miles down the road from Chester(A beautiful city). My oldest daughter was born in Stuttgart. We Lived on and off for ten years in Bavaria( notably Schweinfurt ,which I loved and didn't want to leave) Since then we have been here in the U.S. and we spend our time looking for German or English food. Other people think we're obsessed with food, but it's only what we miss. We are lucky in that we have a German(half) neighbour and she knows someone who bakes German bread every other week or so, and she shares . We have discovered a place in Cincinnati called 'Jungle Jims', an international grocery store which has virtually everything you could want . So about twice a year we load up the car. We have to suck up the prices ,as they are ridiculous. My daughters grew up with Ritter Sport(my favourite, like you ,Rum Raisin, also Marzipan)There are so many things I miss from both countries but we have an Aldi( which has German weeks which is when we stock up.

I buy German food at our Aldis. Sausages, kraut, candy, chocolate covered "biscuits" cookies, and at Christmas time, stollen. USA

I use to work at Lidl head office when they had offices in Wimbledon Village.
The director was German and he would walk round all the different departments handing out German chocolates 😂

A Lidl just opened in my town and I had no idea what it was. This is the first I've heard of it in the U.S. Now I can't wait to go and see it.
I loved this video. Brought back a lot of memories of both the British Grocers and the wonderful German products as we lived in both countries. We miss how much less expensive groceries are in the UK and Europe than here in the USA. The products are so much better there. We also miss all the yummy chocolates. If I remember correctly Aldi or Lidl in Germany used to carry some delicious frozen pretzels and included the salt in little packets. The kids would love these for an after school snack. I like this! I always go to Lidl first, then elsewhere (Aldi, M&S, Waitross, Tesco) after to find anything I missed. Waitross is always more expensive. It’s nice to see what you buy. TFS.

I love watching you two! This was particularly interesting to watch as there were so many brands I didn’t even realise we’re German! I need to go to Lidl (and Waitrose if I’m feeling posh! 😄) and get myself some of these delicious German treats! My 10 year old really wants to visit Germany as she’s never been, maybe some German food will keep her going until we can visit 🇩🇪☺️

I do so enjoy watching your videos. I lived for most of my life a few miles down the road from Chester(A beautiful city). My oldest daughter was born in Stuttgart. We Lived on and off for ten years in Bavaria( notably Schweinfurt ,which I loved and didn't want to leave)
Since then we have been here in the U.S. and we spend our time looking for German or English food. Other people think we're obsessed with food, but it's only what we miss. We are lucky in that we have a German(half) neighbour and she knows someone who bakes German bread every other week or so, and she shares . We have discovered a place in Cincinnati called 'Jungle Jims', an international grocery store which has virtually everything you could want . So about twice a year we load up the car. We have to suck up the prices ,as they are ridiculous. My daughters grew up with Ritter Sport(my favourite, like you ,Rum Raisin, also Marzipan)There are so many things I miss from both countries but we have an Aldi( which has German weeks which is when we stock up.
We actually have a great selection of German beers and wines here in many stores in the US! Trader Joes and Total Wine always carry them.

I didn’t just LIKE the video, I LOVED the video. I enjoy hearing you speak German and pronouncing words you read off the labels! We only have an Aldi here in the US state of Iowa, unless some other Iowans know of a grocery store that sells German foods. I learned today how to pronounce “knorr”. I’ll say it with the “k” now whereas before I was saying it with the “k” silent. Love you both! Mary

Hallo! I'm from Romania, but I love German food and drinks - something very special for me is Spezi ( a mix of Coke and Orange juice). I buy German stuff at Lidl and last week I was in a shop where all the stuff are from Germany. I love Rittersport - Rum and Raisins also!!! I love your videos!!!
