Reminds me of how there was a time long ago that Sylvester Stallone was homeless and did a porno or two for some cash just to stay alive. I don't remember what the video was originally called but it was renamed the Italian stallion as a way of cashing in on his Fame that he acquired a little while later with the first Rocky movie.

Ok y'all, so I'll be straight up, I have c-pts (not war related) and this video is fucking hilarious to me and actually keeps my spirits up on bad days. If I have a particularly bad night terror, after I wake up and calm down, I hear "HOW TO GET THE NIGHTMARES TO STOPPPP" And I've developed my own dark sense of humor of it. Once again, love this so so much. Bill Hader is amazing

When anthony took a drag of that cigarette and the smoke came out of tony's face I completely lost my mind.

This and Anthony Peter Coleman's first puppet class are two of my favorite sketches. "Here's a joke: GOD." "It was a hot night in Grenada" "I was not accused of war crimes" oh dear God this stuff is GOLD.
I think the teacher deserves a lot of love for this too. HIs character's enthusiasm and dorkiness was perfectly played.
One of my favorite moments in the whole sketch is after Hader takes a drag and the puppet exhales the smoke. Cut to the teacher and his puppet both open mouthed in shock, then they look at each other as if truly separate identities and both shake their heads, shaking off their discomfort and bringing them back to the moment. Its a genuinely good moment of puppetry and is a perfect punctuation to Hader's cigarette joke.
Best part of the entire sketch, dude!

That one guy who was trying to clap when Bill Hader first appeared and started talking. Your efforts are appreciated.
This isn’t really far off from Bill’s HBO series as an assassin who discovers a passion for acting. Which is also fantastic.
There’s the war vet being dark as hell and also funny as hell and spiraling down a dark hole of his own making so. Yeah. The more I think about it, the more I’m convinced Bill was always thinking about telling this story and playing this character.

@@johnjordan6032 I laughed and I deployed many times to combat zones in the Army and saw a lot of shit. In fact, we joked about things at the time that were definitely morbid, because it is a way of dealing. This isn’t making fun of real veterans. It is just a sketch. Comedy pokes fun and makes light of lots of dark subjects, and often comics suffer from depression and/or anxiety.
The part where he stepped in singing, "how to get the nightmares to stop" just knocked me off my chair hysterically laughing. Damn, Hader's good. Someone please help me, I can't stop laughing.

Eh.. the concept of the sketch is funny yeah. But it’s repetitive after the 3rd time (If the sketch continues past that mark with SNL currently) these sketches now aren’t worth the repetition of the obvious joke 4 weeks in a row. The funniest sketches are the sketches near the end of the show that are random and filler just because it’s almost like it was a last minute idea and it can be absurd at that point in the show just to waste time. They need to almost revert back to the ideology of the shows run in the 70’s and 80’s and 90’s that made it rebellious to be on tv.

The idea could work if, every week, the person in Bill Hader's role is someone different, some other crazy like a drug addict, a Christian conservative, a conspiracy theorist, a let's-player (especially if it's Markiplier), and a prank caller (the inevitable Crank Yankers crossover).

I thought it was impossible to top the first sketch’s smoke bit-easily one of funniest sight gags in the entire show-but Bill effortlessly does it. And he really commits to the gag too: this time he doesn’t just mime inhaling but you can see from the actually-lit end that he inhaled, meaning he had to hold it in while ‘Tony blew it out’…until he could exhale off-camera. In both sketches the stupefied reactions of the other puppeteers-AND their puppets-just provide the icing on the ice…howlingly funny!

But kidding aside, I had an online friend who has ptsd.. And this skit, no matter how funny it may be, also brings me to tears because of how ptsd affects people's lives.
