I used to work in a video shop in 2004 to 2005. We where still getting new releases on VHS then. People think of VHS as a 80's and 90's thing but it lasted well into the 2000s.
I collected every VHS, including specials and tins, then sold them and bought a tumble dryer 🤣 42:10 The 30th anniversary tin was a silver tin which went manky really quickly, unlike the white Dalek, Master and Cyberman tins that were also released, although the 30th anniversary did also comes with a little booklet about all the Dalek stories which was a nice addition
Hi Adam Thank you so much for doing this video brought back do many memories. I started collecting the Dr Who visited in the mid to late 90's by then a lot had already been released and some sadly oop so I spent hours and hours trawling second hand shops and markets but great fun...these were pre Internet days to for most people. I eventually collected them all on VHS apart from Planet of the Daleks ultra rare, but got brand new from Australia as still in print there lol. Yes fond memories and I still have the complete classic collection of DVDS pride of place in my front room bookshelf...
Congratulations on the huge VHS haul! Lovely to hear your thoughts on all these stories! I can't believe how expensive they were! That's crazy. I'm glad you got them for waaay less! 😄 I can't believe they got both Cushing movies on one tape!
I had them all. The art work varied in quality and you can see a shift in look from how the covers were done. But getting each one when you'd never seen the stoires AND without any new series made each one special. Memories of days and people no longer here. Something magical.
Lovely collection. I originally had my Doctor Who collection on video then I bought them on DVD and now I'm buying the limited edition on.blu ray Enjoy.
22:2023:17 I've Might Go And Buy These Original 1991 And 1992 BBC Video UK VHS Releases Of Doctor Who Volumes 2 And 3 The Troughton Years And Doctor Who The Pertwee Years On Video From eBay This Year. Thanks A Lot Mate. X
We still have all our Doctor Who VHS tapes, including the Cyberman tin, the Master tin, the Dalek tin and the Trial of a Time Lord tin, because we paid a lot for them. I was paying A$20 to A$30 per tape, and sometimes more for the tins because they'd have to come from the U.K. and the exchange rate is terrible. I'm not getting rid of anything that cost that much money even if it's not worth even close to that now.
You spend your last spare cash on one of your favourite stories and the tape gets mangled in the video player happened to me three times and another snapped completely while playing 😱
That is probably exactly what happened. It happened alot during the dicks letts era too. Mack hulk or someone would come with a solid 4 parter, dicks would go I haven't got any 4 slots left this season but if you can stretch to a 6 the gigs yours and as a freelance writer can you blame them
16:36 I've Might Go And Buy The Original 1994 BBC Video 2 Tape Set UK VHS Release Of Doctor Who The Original Series Season 3 Volume 4 The Rescue And The Romans On Video From eBay This Year. Wish Me Luck. Thanks Mate. X
I threw out about 60 of them and were in great condition. I regret it but I was young, VHS died, and I was moving a lot. I regret it now in my older years but we all have regrets. :)
The Seeds of Death was released on VHS in 1985 so does that mean there might be some rare copies which Troughton might of autographed on tour, right before he died?
That's a nice hole I had a lot of those videotapes I gave them to a friend of mine who still has a VHS player and he said that that was one of the best things he's ever got I have them all on DVD nope don't have any Blu-rays at least not with Doctor Who yet

You're spot on! In our house we were mostly VHS until around 2007 when DVD's finally made up most of the shelf!
I used VHS up until maybe 2010 just because it was the cheapest way to record stuff off tv.
I had soooooooo many of these vhs tapes! Little shop in leytonstone east London that I got them from, plus the OLD who shop.
I collected every VHS, including specials and tins, then sold them and bought a tumble dryer 🤣

What a haul indeed! Hope you've got a working VCR. You're in for quite a ride!
Really cool haul that you got, I always liked to collect BBC VHS tapes since they have so many of them in the US.
This is amazing to see, The Ark in Space is an omnibus, i have quite a few VHS tapes too.
13:16 I knew I wasn’t the only one who was thinking on that
Great collection!

Was there also a Laserdisc version of Doctor Who serie. Nice VHS collection of Doctor Who. Have the complete Doctor Who Tom Baker years on Betamax.
35:03 I have that vhs but it’s a copy which means it was recorded on a tv.
You spend your last spare cash on one of your favourite stories and the tape gets mangled in the video player happened to me three times and another snapped completely while playing 😱
The Invasion of Time to me feels like a four parter that got an extra 2 parts added on at short notice.

The horror of fank rock has the same Dr who logo as some of the bbc dr who books

Weird seeing dr who get in a taxi in the war machines.
Battlefield Special Edition Is Include On DVD On Disc 2 And My Copy Has It
The copy of The Ark in Space is the omnibus edition in 1989.
My collection is probably about twice as big and features all the Troughton releases. Willing to do a video with anyone who wants to see it.
I got about 30 of them at a thrift store for about
10 bucks one of my favorite things in my collection
Have you done a video on the AMTV VHS collection (if you have one?) Would be very intrigued.
I don't think any spoilers are being revealed about what happens at the end of Earthshock. It is 38 years old after all.
Pyramids of Mars release was 1985, not 95. I just checked the Roman Numerals because the VHS design seemed more 80s/early 90s than 1995. 😉😊
I threw out about 60 of them and were in great condition. I regret it but I was young, VHS died, and I was moving a lot. I regret it now in my older years but we all have regrets. :)
Fab collection I got most of them but they pride I am 71 lol
Adam amazing content

I’m pretty sure tapes with black cases are the omnibus editions
Hello Adam. I just wondered if you or any Whovian could tell me what series episodes have the Maisie Williams guest appearance episodes. Thanks.
My most favourite TV 📺 Show is Doctor 👩🏼⚕️ Who?
I have a movie version of Battlefield on my dvd!
That's a nice hole I had a lot of those videotapes I gave them to a friend of mine who still has a VHS player and he said that that was one of the best things he's ever got I have them all on DVD nope don't have any Blu-rays at least not with Doctor Who yet
I used to have loads of these.
I still have my tin for The Chase/remembrance of the daleks. Sadly the vhs themselves have long since dematerialised....
At least you have a cool tin to hold onto 👏
I have a dr who dvd collection of of new and manly classic doctor who storyres
robot has a good cover
I still have most of these from my childhood collection. I will never part with them.
Will you do a give away of some of these tapes?
I have around 100 none of which have been played in 25 yrs. any offers ? 😊
Wow 😳
I've started collecting Dr who VHS tapes been getting alot of the past few months be nice to win a couple of you for my collection 🙂
I'm pleased to say I've only got less than 5 tapes to get now
I had to stop buying them by 1998 as the price for a single tape release was £16.99 by then. Could no longer afford the expensive hobby.
Those Years releases didn't sell very well. That is why they stopped.
I've got Daleks - The Early Years
