Watching this back after b&m started churning out new characters and monsters is actually really amazing, to think only nearly three years ago we thought the future of the range was some repaints (if that) is insane. And now we have Sensorites! And Benton and Yates! And Romanas! And TV movie da- I mean mechanus Daleks 😂
What an excellent video! I went in thinking it would be a retrospective review of the figures themselves, but this was much more interesting! Loved learning about the history of the classic figure range and this first wave. I was slightly too young to be interested in the classic era when this first wave came out, but it sounds like it was a very exciting time!
Great video as per usual! lovely look back on the older figures holds a special place in my heart, I remember before even the days of my channel watching the wave one reviews at my local library excited to get them for Christmas that year
I've been a Doctor Who Action Figure collector for as long as I can remember being into Doctor Who when the toy line was first released in 2005 when it started. A lot of figures I didn't have back within the classic Doctor Who Range and I collect more and more each day, even to paying through the nose for some older classic figures from some friends who have extras they want to sell, and Afflecks Palace in Manchester is one of the other places I source a lot of my Doctor Who Figures, with the exception of the new B&M line with the new updated Sontarans, Cybermen and Tardis'. I'd sad to say I spent quite a few years collecting the new and older figures. I still have yet to buy a 13th Doctor! But I am definitely happy with what I do have, no matter how limited it may be. I remember wanting some classic Daleks for a long time. I ended up getting the Second Dalek collectors set in 2013, and it was my first ever taster of Classic Daleks. I had gone to a Fair in Wales (I can't remember the name of it now) with my now ex-girlfriend. I had £10 on me and I remember feeling distraught that I couldn't buy it as it was priced at £15. I only have her parents to thank for lending me a £5 note to let me rush over and buy it as quick as possible. I now own a lot more of the Classic Series. My first ever figure, I bought at a Tesco in 2008, the 4th Doctor. Some time later that year, the 5th Doctor. I never got the original 6th Doctor, and to this day still can't FIGURE out why. (Okay that was a bad pun) Infact a lot of the original series I never ended up getting, and I still need to complete my K1 ROBOT! Yeah, thats probably not going to happen now. But after years of searching Ebay and finding different places to source my figures from, I now have Zygons, Mummies, Classic Daleks, Classic Cybermen (Oh boy! I still remember getting my first! The Earthshock in 2009 I believe, maybe 2010.) Unlike yourself, I didn't really get a-lot of money around that age, especially as I was just transferring to my teens so as a student, I couldn't afford a lot of what you have. But I am looking for places to buy then and I have people willing to sell me their spares. It certainly has been a great time to be a classic Doctor Who Figure Collector.
Somehow I missed this wonderful nostalgia fest and am just now viewing it...what a wonderful trip down the fantastic introduction of REAL Doctor Who action figures to the world FINALLY! It's fantastic and all I can say is it needs a Follow Up to bring it current AND a dedication to keep it so with each new wave, perhaps addi VA volume # with each new wave or year/substantial addition of figures. I mean tneCompanions of the 4th Doctor Set has perhaps the most universally awaited figures that it simply has to be referenced and added! :-) Great work as always, and you were far too modest about your action figure stories - they were truly well written with gripping exciting stories that rivalled and at times excelled their TV counter parts! And the stop motion figures works far better than I'd ever believe possible - I swear I lose myself in them more so than the animations even! Well done sir!!!!
Heart warming & knowledgeable video Matthew on the classic range of figures, this brought back many great memories of the excitement of buying these figures for the first time. Thanks for bringing us this awesome & emotional video!
Blimey 10 years?! How time flies! Out of all these figures I own a dead planet dalek, two chase Daleks, the saucer pilot Dalek, the emperors guard dalek, the gold supreme dalek, the Genesis Dalek, a mechanoid and 60s cybermen including the controller. Quite small compared to other fans but they look so awesome on the shelves!
Splendid Video! A story I truly never knew! I'm now only one TARDIS Box away from completing my Classic Tardis Collection! With the addition of the 3rd Doctor one coming soon, it should look even better! :D
I hope that in future we could get more figures, such as, an Anthony Ainley Master, Bessie, and maybe, because he's my favourite doctor, fur coat or Stove pipe hat Pat Troughton!
Since my comment two years ago commenting on what I got, oh boy my classic range has really grown. I now have the majority of the B&M stuff, along with a lot of classic sets since, such as Castrovalva, The Seeds Of Doom, Remembrance Of The Daleks (all three sets) etc etc. It’s been a ride and I still collect more to this day.
That first wave of classic figures was awesome! I always wanted toys of this standard from classic who for years and thought we had to settle for the dapol ones instead, best thing about modern who is that it got these figures made for us, the master Delgado is my favourite figure, what's everyone else's?
I have literally been watching your videos since your reviews of the age of steel cybermen wave. I’m so glad you’re still going! This was fantastic and so very nostalgic! Thank you
Wow i cant belieive how long its been that I've watched you and collected figures, this video makes me feel so nostalgic of all the doctor who figures videos and all the doctor who i used to watch!
Aww Matt this is amazing mate I love it an excellent little documentary/tribute if anyone had to dedicate a tribute to who the only man who could do it justice was Matthew Toffolo great work mate
A dream come true to have all these classic who action figures, this is the best thing about the modern who for me, the fact it spawned the classic series figures, I hope one day we can have figures from red dwarf...
When i was a kid i had the 5 inch black/gold/purple supreme dalek from planet of the daleks. When i moved house i lost all of my doctor who figures. I had favourites like davros and the red and bronze supreme dalek and a bunch of classic daleks and variants. Sitting here ten years or so later looking back on this stuff for nostalgia i found the gold and black supreme dalek that i had on amazon for £75. There's one left in stock and the only other two I've found on the internet is second hand on ebay. One is £40 but has stiff and loose joints and an off centre head light and the other one is £50 in good condition. Judging from what I've seen, it's pretty rare and damn expensive for one dalek. £50 for one unboxed second hand dalek figure is a decent amount and i lost mine when i moved house. God knows how much the other stuff is worth now. Never thought any of that would be worth anything in the future but that cool black and gold supreme dalek that my mum probably got for £10 is now extremely rare and costs anywhere from £40 - £75 if you are lucky enough to find one and the better the condition the higher the price. Whoever has all of my old figures may not realise they've got a dalek worth £50 if it's still in good nick. Sure, it's not a massive amount but it just goes to show that figures indeed go up in value over time so they are worth collecting whether you want to make a future profit or have a collection so you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for it in the future.
Wow! Honestly just wow! What a fantastic tribute to such a fabulous line of action figures, which acted as such an amazing tribute to your channel. I think we all remember the days of constantly refreshing your page because we knew an action figure adventure or review would drop that morning... I'd say that's a youth very well spent :) The information in this video was fabulous, it was really nice hearing about all the leaks and excitement back in 2007. Brilliantly researched and executed, just wonderful!
The Classic Era figures were the BEST Dr Who action figures from Character Opinions! I even remember planning to customise some New Series Daleks as Classic era ones by repainting them in classic colours but when the wave was announced, I felt that there was no need well I did have a spare Dalek Sec and repainted that as the Supreme Dalek from Planet of the Daleks. The plan was almost revived in 2012 because I thought that we would never get a Red Dalek in classic form and I planned on getting another 60's Dalek and repaint it red until the third wave of Doctor and Dalek two packs from the saddle now closed Toys "R" Us was revealed. :)
I want those b and m sets even more now what a great time it was to be alive all these figures where my childhood loved them to pieces and wouldn’t change it for the world! Great video all together
Wow..... Just wow this was so amazing!! I wish I had all of those figures. I only have one cybermen the 12th Doctor and davros. But then I'm more of a doctor who cosplayer and that I also collect all of the sonic screwdrivers and props used in the show!
I've been watching you for about 8-9 years and this video was absolutely amazing, I love videos like this, like a comedy documentary thing, it's brilliant 😅
Great Overview!! Amazing it took tht long for the classic Who characters to transpire, but they sure made up for lost time!... nice to hear also tht i'm not the only one who makes classic dr who action figure scripts! lol :)
I sure wish Doctor Who merchandise was as readily available in the US, as it is in the UK - especially the action figures... I’ve been fortunate to have collected several figures from the Tenth Doctor era, as well as the Eleven Doctors figure set, and a Flight Control TARDIS. But, they’re extremely hard to come by, and not nearly as easily available here as they are across the pond. And, that’s sucks.
It’s not just the WIS Cybermen that are missing, there’s also the Original Silurians, the Yeti, the Dalek from The Five Doctors, AOTC Cyber Controller, Glass Dalek, Lion like Creature things from Inferno and the ones that I and many others want but due to license unable at the moment the Peter Cushion Movie Daleks and many more.
I remember when the first classic dalek set cane out :) I wasn't aware of the actual date of the release, but I was in Toys R Us with my dad, planning to get the Stolen Earth set. As soon as I saw the classic daleks....yeeaaaaahhhh screw the Stolen Earth set 😂 still have them and still love them
Best video you've ever made. It's so interesting to learn the history of the toys. Sadly my 10 year old self became obsessed with video games so I stopped collecting and missed put on Alltwen forbidden plannet exclusives.
Sadly I missed out on these, all iv got are the chase pack a Mondasian cyber man. The problem for me is that when ever I saw the doctor figures they were all variations I didn't want
Really enjoyed this retrospective, will probably end up watching this over and over again. Personally as I was only 7 when the classics first came out I just wasn't aware of them, but am now really pushing to get as many of them as possible
I missed out on so many great figures. My classic series only includes the Eleven Doctors set, Ace, and the Night of the Doctor Eighth. I'll probably have do some hunting online for others when I have the cash.
This makes me very nostalgic. It's a shame they've stopped producing fully new figures, I remember a few years back when they were throwing around the idea of CO website exlusives - which eventually became the first missy figures - they were talking about doing accessory heavy classic figures, similar to the original release of Leela, and put to a vote what we'd like to see out of Jamie, Tegan, Ainley's Master in his proper costume, classic series Sarah Jane or 1970 Silurian. Shame that never happened because I'd have bought all of those in a heartbeat. But what we did get was quite incredible.
I was disappointing, for sure. There's been a few figures like that over the years that have been planned, some even getting to the prototype stage, that never came to be, it's always that bit more disappointing than when there's never any suggestion of a figure being made. The pictures floating around of fur coat Troughton, for example, or the Hurndall first doctor are really tantalisingly out of reach.
Yeah, it is annoying. I believe they prototyped a Wheel in Space Cyberman at one stage, then abandoned it for scaling issues or some such. Which is immensely frustrating, as that leaves a gap in the Cyber line up, and to this day that is the figure I most want to be made. I've always had the idea of releasing a pack of two for 25 quid, along with two Cybermat accessories. That way, you are only paying for the manufacturing cost twice, while the excess money, goes to paying of the cost of the tooling and production stuff and gets to profit faster. But that is just a pie in the sky idea. :(
Yes, I've seen a very low-res picture of that one too, it's quite irksome that that one specific cyberman variation wasn't made. I mean you could argue that we never got a Moonbase cyberman either, but the differences there are so subtle I don't think it's anywhere near as glaring an omission. I could still hold out hope that if S11 does well enough the renewed interest in the show might justify a return to the classic figures, but I'm not getting my hopes up too much.
I've only seen the big leaked poster with a bunch of unreleased things, where it's nearly impossible to distinguish. I wish I had a low-res picture of it, rather than just three grey pixels. I have some hope Series 11 will bring with it a renewed want of merch. I mean, already merch is doing better than in previous years, we've got a Sonic and a 10 inch 13th Doctor doll figure already, with an electronic TARDIS and atleast one 5.5" 13th Doctor figure (an American Seven20 version) on the way.
I've been able to get fuck all for classic figures in the US for the past 3 years. I've missed out on all of the great b&m sets released elsewhere. (I would've loved either of the monster sets) and it seems I'll have to miss out on all of the new b&m sets even though I've been waiting for a classic tardis for years.
Ben_ToaofFire as an example the "monster set" from last year has only two listings on ebay one is $71.99 the other is (with shipping) $130 So even the cheaper listing is still 56 pounds
But until then, there will be more repaints, more re-releases, more boxsets. We shall just go forward in the belief, that we will get our Fat Controllers and Silurians, among others.
But the problem is that there isn't demand, or atleast, isn't enough demand to fund these figures. The Ace figure didn't sell out until 2016-2017, and it was released in 2013. This isn't just a problem with the Classics, but the NuWho figures as well. Hopefully that will all change with the new era though, and we'll finally get some more brand new Classic figures.

Such a great line of toys; sadly I only collected the first few but I always enjoyed playing with them. Who knows maybe one day the range may return
My childhood, alongside the first RUclipsr I knew who did DWFA's that I subscribed too
Heart warming & knowledgeable video Matthew on the classic range of figures, this brought back many great memories of the excitement of buying these figures for the first time. Thanks for bringing us this awesome & emotional video!
It saddens me that DW merch will never see this level of popularity again (even if this new era does succeed). *Sobs*
Seeing stuff like this always makes me regret never starting a collection of the classic figures 😭😭😭 ONE DAY
Blimey 10 years?! How time flies! These spearheaded my love for classic who, after seeing them in the shops and then became really interested in who the hell is d-84
Beautifully put together, Matt! Loved it!
Great video, i remember discovering your channel nine years ago; this video takes me back.
Wow this was such a good look back tribute and extremely informative and detailed! Well done Batmanmarch! 😃
I hope that in future we could get more figures, such as, an Anthony Ainley Master, Bessie, and maybe, because he's my favourite doctor, fur coat or Stove pipe hat Pat Troughton!

What an impressive collection. Absolutely stunning. You are a true fan.
I have been watching your channel for a very long time and wanted to thank you for all your hard work on the Action figure adventures.
I had a lot of the Character figures, and the TARDIS interior and exterior toys. Not as a collector but as a kid who played with them.
Aww Matt this is amazing mate I love it an excellent little documentary/tribute if anyone had to dedicate a tribute to who the only man who could do it justice was Matthew Toffolo great work mate
Loved this! Your passion for the line shines through so brightly, great work ^^

Nice to here those old Classic themes from Dr Who Music album
Your love and passion shines through.
This is great, a really nice way to acknowledge the 10th anniversary of the classic line!

I only ever got the Ice Warrior but with the B&M sets my collection of classic figures have expanded a lot more!
Amazing video I've been subscribed to your channel since your Wave 1 reviews when I was 10 years old!
Great video. Didn't know much about the classic figure waves beyond getting a very discounted Peri and a 5th doctor to go with her.
The Classic Era figures were the BEST Dr Who action figures from Character Opinions!

Fantastic. These truly are the greatest collector's items any nerd can have.
Maybe, one day, it will come back... One day...
The Outcast I hope so I really want 1970s Silurians and the Yetis from the 1960s
As do I (though Wheel Cybermen take priority).
The Outcast who knows anything is possible with the new era starting soon
The Outcast the new B&M sets have got new classic figures 👍
It’s not just the WIS Cybermen that are missing, there’s also the Original Silurians, the Yeti, the Dalek from The Five Doctors, AOTC Cyber Controller, Glass Dalek, Lion like Creature things from Inferno and the ones that I and many others want but due to license unable at the moment the Peter Cushion Movie Daleks and many more.

It’s crazy to think that it was 10years since we got the classic figures WOW!
Sat in my doctors waiting room like "is there any possible way I could miss this appointment to watch this video"
Best video you've ever made. It's so interesting to learn the history of the toys. Sadly my 10 year old self became obsessed with video games so I stopped collecting and missed put on Alltwen forbidden plannet exclusives.
I wish they would make Bessie for the five inch line
B&M:Let me introduce myself
I wish stores would sell doctor who figures like they used to
Sadly I missed out on these, all iv got are the chase pack a Mondasian cyber man. The problem for me is that when ever I saw the doctor figures they were all variations I didn't want
This was an amazing documentary Matt :) excellent
It was such an exciting time 😁💖
And now we have even more like Harry Sullivan!
I be loving the Doctor Who figurines matey. I be having a vast collection o me own at Kraken Port in the Caribbean. They be so cool.
Ah, that brings back memories!!!!
That’s a great big collection you got there! I wish I was you and I’m still trying to find ones to ask for.
Matt, you`re a cracking narrator!
Whoa...you could still do the Magnus Greel and 6th Doctor story if you wanted to Matt! I’ve been a fan since I was 10 and now I’m 17!!!
They need more companions such as Ian, Barbara, Steven Taylor. Jamie McCrimmon, Zoe, Adric.
@404 TV good looking
Will be reviewing any of the new b and m box sets
Lovely work
Being a collector myself I have every single carded and boxed Dr who figure classic and new who. How much it's all worth collectively I have no idea
I remember buying these when they came out

I have some hope Series 11 will bring with it a renewed want of merch. I mean, already merch is doing better than in previous years, we've got a Sonic and a 10 inch 13th Doctor doll figure already, with an electronic TARDIS and atleast one 5.5" 13th Doctor figure (an American Seven20 version) on the way.
Fantastic video
I've been able to get fuck all for classic figures in the US for the past 3 years. I've missed out on all of the great b&m sets released elsewhere. (I would've loved either of the monster sets) and it seems I'll have to miss out on all of the new b&m sets even though I've been waiting for a classic tardis for years.
Really? Not even Ebay?
Ben_ToaofFire as an example the "monster set" from last year has only two listings on ebay one is $71.99 the other is (with shipping) $130
So even the cheaper listing is still 56 pounds
The first doctor who AFA I watched...the cyberman and weeping angel...
The best action figurer line ever made
If you are a doctor who fan
Sorry I’m a bit late! Great documentary! I love classic figures so much 🙂 btw what’s that music you use 8:33 ?
One day the new sculpts shall come back, yes they shall come back
But until then, there will be more repaints, more re-releases, more boxsets. We shall just go forward in the belief, that we will get our Fat Controllers and Silurians, among others.
3:00 is there a scan of that magazine somewhere? Would absolutely love to look through it.
The question is, why won’t they produce any more? The demand is still clearly there, but there’s no supply! ESPECIALLY for Dalek figures!
This video made me cry😥😥😥😥😥
Great video
That depressing moment when you joined the show in 2013 after the figures were stopped 😭
Great video!
Best toys ever made! :)
OMG people like you lot do exist WOW !, I love Doctor Who, but still WOW !

There's another b&m classic TARDIS coming out? Holy shit. I'm literally panicked that I won't get one now.
If only we got a classic Silurian.
There's an articulated Lord Izlyr figure!? Or was that Commander Azaxyr?
Can we have a collection tour soon?
Excellent. I’m regretting being sensible and not buying them all!
Can we have more videos of how you display your figures please
I have a question, where there any Dr Who Action Figure Animations that you had planned but never saw the light of day?
LOADS OF DAVROS!
Why they didnt realesed spiky hair with the brown coat David Tennant action figure ?
I hope you do an update.
Now I’m sad I can’t get the Dalek Collector’s Set 1
EDIT: nvm I’m getting the 2nd Doctor and Guard Dalek 2 pack.

The more time passes the figures are harder to get so suck for me and other fresh Whovian who have to track them down and pay real high prices.
