F-Zero GX is what I used to rock with in my childhood in seventh grade on the GameCube. back when Nintendo and Sega shock the world with this game where it’s like they get along well like cats and dogs.

Seeing as how Nintendo to this day hasn't released Smash 64 on the N64 virtual console (it's been 3 years since the introduction of N64 on NSO), I don't think Melee has a chance. I love the game personally, but it's more likely that we'll see DS games get added to NSO, than get Melee.

@@c0npl3xOP ik. I've always wanted Smash 64 on NSO, and my expectations were higher this year, because it's Smash's 25th anniversary. My expectations peaked at the GameCube leak, but now that I think about it, Nintendo will probably never release either of these games. The best case scenario is probably a Switch port of either 64 or Melee, but chances for it are also astronomically low.
I hope they do this but still remaster some of them like Luigi’s mansion, Twilight Princess, and Windwaker

This might reveal the idea that the Switch2 will have analog triggers with that extra click like the Gamecube had! And that they will add the Gamecube on NSO, so everyone can play those games without the need of buying new controllers just to play those games.
I wish for all the GameCube Mario Parties to come to Switch! Even 8-Player Mode in Mario Party 7 with sharing a Controller would be possible with Switch Controllers!

I thought they specifically said GameCube Games would not come to Switch in this manner. Specifically, they "would not dedicate to it."
My predictions are:
1) gamecube NSO will be on switch 2
2) nintendo will drop the less expensive NSO subscription cost option and make the expansion pak tier the base option while retaining the current price. While the GC/DS tier will become the new "expansion pak" model with a higher price.
3) switch 2 while undocked will have the ability to relay information to the dock to project onto a tv/monitor. This will enable DS/3ds/wiiU dual screen capabilities.

Unlike what people think, this is really bad, this means that those games that were on the Gamecube won't get remakes
how do you know? Super Mario RPG was on the SNES (which already has an NSO app) but it got a remake just last year! They could just not release it on NSO and instead give it a remaster/remake.

if NGC ends up coming to NSO for Switch 1 before the Switch 2's release would be surprising imo. I feel like NGC for NSO would be something Nintendo wants to save for Switch 2, but we'll see how these reports will play out for the rest of the year.

This is being saved for Switch 2. The Switch cannot handle native emulation, even through unofficial homebrew emulation on the Switch.
Super Mario Sunshine on SM3DAS uses modified coding to make the game run. It can't even run as straight emulation. They had to port Metroid Prime, Pikmin 1&2, and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door because they couldn't run via emulation. The Switch is a very underpowered machine, even back in 2017. They used a very outdated Tegra chip.
My guess is they were planning GameCube emulation for Switch (since GC was already 3 generations ago and Wii U didn't have it since Wii already allowed BC for GC). Usually, they would make older games run via the Virtual Console (DS being an exception since that was only 1 generation ago when the Wii U was the current console) but the same thing was supposed to happen on the 3DS with GBA (the first two DS handhelds could run GBA, but DSi removed it) and they couldn't get GBA to run properly, hence why ambassadors got 10 GBA games that ran via DSi mode's hardware emulation and ran like DS games. The same thing was supposed to happen with GameCube games. They couldn't get Super Mario Sunshine to run on an actual emulator (similar to Dolphin), so they had to modify the code to make it run and even that had issues, like the developer cubes showing up in the starry space areas where you lose F.L.U.D.D. but they eventually fixed it. So the next GameCube games had to be ported over (like Pikmin 1&2) while both Metroid Prime and TTYD got complete remasters, obviously.
Please please please hurry up with this Nintendo. It's been too long. Desperately want Fzero GX, and Rogue Squadron 2! As for the controllers, there are already a ton of 3rd party Gamecube USB controllers for switch that were released for Smash Bros. But yeah hoping they get this moving soon as possible.
Gamecube game on NSO should only include games that didn't have remasters and ports that's already on the Switch, such as Metroid Prime, Pikman 1&2, Resident Evil 4, and Paper Mario. It's like the whole Turok situation they recently added to NSO 17+. Like it made no sense to even put Turok when there's already a Remastered version that plays way better than it's original version. The only Turok game that would've made sense on NSO 17+ would be Turok Rage Wars.
I ain’t paying subscription fees for games that were released 10, 20, or 30 years ago. It’s either I own them, or I’m outty. I don’t buy them to play them. I buy them to collect them.
If Nintendo does put GameCube on NSO, I think they understand that people aren’t willing to upgrade to 70usd JUST for GameCube. They’d probably prioritise convincing people to upgrade from basic to expansion. After all, they’re not paying much to put the games on the service. Maybe just some licensing fees

I don't think this is correct yet. I don't think is possible to have many GameCube games on 1 APP without buying an Micro SD Card. GameCube games are about 1.5 GB at the most, so having a lot of GameCube title will fill up the Switch's internal storage quickly. But I will love to play GameCube games again on the Switch.

I think it totally could come to the OG Switch and it's because of the massive install base. NSO is a sweet gravy train for Nintendo, and we know Gamecube games can run well on Switch, look at Mario Sunshine, I don't think they changed anything about that when it came out on 3D All-Stars. If they use it to try to entice people to get a Switch 2 it could backfire because of the price barrier to entry, leaving people sour. Or they could put it up on Switch, get more subscribers, and have people thinking "wow, look at how much Nintendo keeps putting onto the Switch this long into its run." I think this generation transition will be very interesting, I think Nintendo would be wise to treat it incredibly gently and find a good balance of enticing people with Switch 2 while not making Switch 1 owners feel too left out, at least for like two years. The Switch 2 is the Switch Pro. Like Tears of the Kingdom, Switch 2 likely started its life as another version of the Switch, like TotK started out as DLC for BotW, but like TotK, they probably had more ideas for it and made it its own thing. My guess is that during the period right after we learned about the Switch Pro, that's around the time that Nintendo realized they should do just do the next console like that.
I'll get the third NSO tier if and only if it includes Pokemon Home. I'll happily buy that controller though.

I’m honestly against this because I genuinely feel like this is just gonna allow Nintendo to justify raising the base prices of NSO and even potentially avoiding remasters and HD ports. We’ve yet to get Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 2, etc. Feels like they’re just going to use those games as bait for people to get the GameCube tier.
NYXI makes an excellent GameCube controller with Hall effect joy sticks to prevent stick drift. Definitely worth picking up, I have 3 of them and LOVE THEM! 👌🏻

I would take it a step further. If I were Nintendo, I would expand on the switch dock and add a disk reader to it to play Wii and gamecube games. Then, sell accessories as needed.

If we do get a wireless GameCube controller, I actually don't want it to be the traditional design. Instead, I would prefer it to be a replica of the WaveBird, but with the rumble functionality of the wired version. Also, despite it being something highly unlikely to happen, I want a replica of the SNES Mouse to be made someday.
What if it’s just a reprint of GameCube controllers and the wii-u dongle to use the controllers? The switch has always supported the hardware since early in its life.

I would love to see the first two games in the Super Smash Bros series on Nintendo Switch Online, you know. That is, Super Smash Bros 64 and Super Smash Bros MELEE. So in addition to Super Smash Bros 64, I say, "Give us Super Smash Bros MELEE too".
For N64 on Nintendo Switch Online, I am still waiting on Super Smash Bros 64. That is true.

Nintendo has a long-established status quo for GameCube games on the Switch and we have given them ZERO incentive to break from it. Nobody wants to accept it, but GameCube isn't coming to NSO.
