    I have an immense amount of respect for the original film. It was a watermark film and deserves all the praise in the world. But that shouldn't discount what an excellent movie this was. Heartfelt and sincere, with just the right amount of humor and action added in. A fine example of what a Western should be.

    • @mckenzie.latham91
      @mckenzie.latham91 7 лет назад +7

      Are you kidding me, what a load. the 1960's one shows exactly how you can have humor, meaningful scenes, an interesting/exciting villain, action, even romance scenes and not go over the top or be a schlocky mess...
      this film fails in all of that.
      open range is far better film then this one, broken trail, another good one, unforgiven, Appaloosa, slow west, 3:10 to Yuma etc. etc.
      all better then this. that narration at the end is hilarious, sicne the motivations and characters for most of them were undefined and or left vague.
      again having a "personality" and having character is not the same thing.
      this seems like a red dead redemption video game then actual western.

    • @pariahdog5214
      @pariahdog5214 5 лет назад +7

      John is right, its a remake of a remake, so there is really no point in arguing about "the original" (whatever that is).
      And i have to disagree with Mckenzie. Whilst Unforgiven is without a doupt one of the best westerns, if not movies in general, of all time, Open Range was definetely not bettet then this.

      @@mckenzie.latham91 Your beloved 1960's 'original' was also a remake of Kurosawa's 1954 Seven Samurai, which was also hated by the diehard lovers of the latter. Apparently Hollywood was a lot less original back then, much like today.

      It translates to:
      "Take that, you SOB!(you know what it fully means). You Mother******!".
      RUclips won't let me post the full sentence as the man says it, probably because of guidelines.
      Hope it helps.

    you can't hit diddly with a gun while from the back of a horse . IN reality, riding horses into such a setup would be suicide (if you STAYED on the horses) even if you outnumbered the townfolk by 3 to 1.
