Great episode!! I was excited when Mikey quoted from Dana's stand up show ("Mr Fuunnnnggggg, did you...shampoo your hair?") I listened to that show so many times so was a fun callback. GUYS, KEEP THESE THINGS COMING
I wish your show was more free-form, I could've listened to 2 more hours of this episode easily. As fans of a similar age, we love hearing how your era of snl impacted someone as talented as Mikey. Please bring him back for a part 2,3,4?!
I think Mikey definitely deserves an hour and a half show. He really is one of those guys that had some pretty damn good skits in some episodes that were rather dry.
mikey day is all of us speaking to his comedy idols. i echo his sentiments about dana and david. true legends who influenced a generation of comedy whether they realize how legendary they are (or not).
❤😅lost track of who was Mikey and who was Dana at certain points lol😂 So Fun, such a delight. And Spade, as always a sniper as well as a class act, coming in over the cb radio with kindness and perfect prospective. Thank you all sincerely.😊 Excited For Shane!🎉
The Trump boys are hysterical The letters from the war front also funny. Especially the letters/ with Phoebe Waller So funny where’s she’s laughing and waving to Hitler
I don't really know Mikey Day but I have 20 years+ of listening to Lorne impressions. Mr. Day must be funny because he holds his own with his Lorne. It is even nuanced.
He's like the perfect utility player who can fit into almost any sketch. He doesn't have a recurring character like Church Lady per example, but he's always funny in the straight man role or the goofy role.
@@maryschroeder1533 listen I'm a fan of Dana's impressions, I just think he's been overdoing his Lorne, Dennis Miller and Joe Biden impressions, at the expense of other impressions he has in his arsenal
I've been waiting for this one! What a heartwarming episode. I felt this could have gone on for hours. Mikey has a great Lorne impression and his brief Jon Lovitz was pretty great, too! Please have him on again so he can fanboy some more. It was so endearing!
Not sure if he wrote it but Blue Bunny Ice Cream with Benedict Cumberbatch & Heidi with Mikey as the focus group moderator is one of my favorites. Mikey was in a pre-SNL video with a David Blaine street magic impersonator that slaps. Cheezits!
I haven't listened to every episode of FotW, but in the dozen or so that I have listened to, Spade never mentions "Rules of Engagement". Loved him on that show!
I think what makes the David S Pumpkins sketch work is that Beck Bennett's character is someone we can identify with who's reacting to this reference he doesn't get. Mikey, Bobby and Tom Hanks (et al) are hilarious but for me it's about seeing a new reference all of a sudden, and its everywhere and you're like "where did that come from?", "am I supposed to know what this is?", but you're worried you're the only one who doesn't get it
mikey is so good, he's like kenan: he just sort of blends in with the show like a fixture. I now appreciate mikey day a lot more having listened to this podcast. people who do their job really good often are hard to spot because they make it look so easy. this is mikey days curse. that glimps of his martyshort impression at the end sort of blew me away. He shrunk down the hook to it's bare essence. That is impressive. Norm could do that with his Burt, but even then half the credit for that success goes to wardrobe...
To Mikey, in case it's not covered on the pod, what happened to Alex Moffat? The two of you were like a Spade/Farley super combo. I miss him. The two of you as Trump Brothers is an all-time classic, lol.
Spade, love the idea for Is it Cake "hit it with a hammer and we'll figure it out" Call the show "IS IT FUCKING CAKE?!" The reveal would be the artist smashing their work with a sledge hammer or kicking it, lighting an M80 in front of it...etc
Does Mikey understand that 20 years from now the new cast will be telling him the same stuff? There's probably like 2000 15 year old funny kids that quote him every Monday at school just like I did in 91
I think Dana is thinking of the first version of the breakfast pastry. Another company, I think Post, put out the first iteration of it. But their's wasn't well received. It gave Kellogg's time to get out their Pop Tarts which was better liked. It's a while ago but that's what I recall.
6:53 Ed Wynn played a loud bombastic buffoon. A clown, almost, as was the day. Ironically, his son, Keenan Wynn, went on to play angry patriarchal authority figures in Doug McClure movies. And, like my experience with Hart Bochner and his father Lloyd, I knew them as separate unique entities, only learning of their relationship to each other recently. Because internet.
Towards the end, Mkey says he has so many questions for Dana and David, and Spade says they'll have to have him back on. Why couldn't you go 10 more minutes and let him ask those questions?? It's a podcast with no set length, and yet they're acting like there's a set length.
It's not that no one can do Biden. It's that the show refuses to "go there" with Biden and really make fun of him. The very noticeable pulling back results in poor comedy.
Dana is the worst , crowbar in his old impersonations , clearly thinks the other snl people don't rate compared to him , Spade is always kind and thoughtful . I was a fan of Dana until this podcast , don't need to compete so hard
Mikey is a GEM on that show
Love Mikey as Don Jr with Moffat as Eric
Great episode!! I was excited when Mikey quoted from Dana's stand up show ("Mr Fuunnnnggggg, did you...shampoo your hair?") I listened to that show so many times so was a fun callback. GUYS, KEEP THESE THINGS COMING

The show seems to be getting better & better with the two of them taking turns in synch!
Another great one, guys. 💙
My favorite Mikey Day bits are the soldier’s letters from home, and Don Jr. and Eric (with Alex (Moffet).
The Trump boys are hysterical
The letters from the war front also funny. Especially the letters/ with Phoebe Waller
So funny where’s she’s laughing and waving to Hitler
I loved Mikey and Mya doing the Hot Ones sketch!
I'd love to see David and/or Dana on an episode with the Hot Wings!!

If I never have to hear another Lorne impression ever again I would be very happy
@@leob4403 I want to hear all the Lorne impressions! They're never not funny.

Is Dr. Evil actually an impression of Lorne?
Mikey Day - the skit with the letters between the civil war soldier and his wife. ❤ That was on the Maya and Martin show. Remember that one?
I forgot about that skit. Yep, that was a classic
I've been waiting for this one! What a heartwarming episode. I felt this could have gone on for hours. Mikey has a great Lorne impression and his brief Jon Lovitz was pretty great, too! Please have him on again so he can fanboy some more. It was so endearing!
Mikey Day could fit into any era of SNL.
And a class guy, no wonder he made it
This is so true.

Mikey was great! Loved him quoting your stuff
Remembering Norm!!!
Please make this happen!!!
Maybe a 3 parter. :-)
They cut off anyone who starts to talk about him. So may be hard.
I always remember Dana's stand-up on the OJ trial. Every time I hear the phrase "the JUDICIAL SYSTEM," I say it in Dana's voice, still to this day.
Enjoy mikey on snl from the day he arrived. Cheers boys
7:26 😅😅😅
Mikey does decent-to-great impressions of quite a lot of people! He just wanted to fan out and quote D & D, very cool and endearing, nice episode!
Great job "Mickey" ;)
Get Chloe! That's the one I need to hear. I'm sure fans of this guy will enjoy the episode.
Tareem Killiam. Getting close Dana.
“Let’s get Mikey. He’ll try it. He eats everything. Hey Mikey! He likes it!” - Life cereal ad of my youth.
I am so happy Mikey mentioned Black Sheep. That movie got me interested in voting. "Every vote counts."
The first time I saw Mikey day was that martin and maya show.
"You're like Brock Purdy at quarterback, you know the system." Big compliment to the second year qb!

Imagine if Dana and David had laptops and wi-fi back in the 90s!
The comedy magic would just keep raining down BOOM BOOM...
Paul Shaffer would be a great guest. His work with Bill Murray and as Don Kirshner are a part of SNL history.
mikey is so good, he's like kenan: he just sort of blends in with the show like a fixture. I now appreciate mikey day a lot more having listened to this podcast. people who do their job really good often are hard to spot because they make it look so easy. this is mikey days curse.

also, this guy invented david pumpkins? Until this season this guy still felt like one of the new guys to me *but I'm retarded
Stop putting orange soda in our mouths!!!!
DBSM with Mikey day was hilarious.
To Mikey, in case it's not covered on the pod, what happened to Alex Moffat? The two of you were like a Spade/Farley super combo. I miss him. The two of you as Trump Brothers is an all-time classic, lol.
They were so good as the Trump brothers
Everything Mikey and Alex did together was great. I've never seen two cast members hit the ground running together like they did.
that was fun
Wrong Dana Pop Tarts 5:42 were so good! I took them for my lunch in place of a sandwich. You had to have the frosted ones.
IS HE CAKE TOO THOUGH! 😂. Mikeys great and still on the rise.
Spade, love the idea for Is it Cake "hit it with a hammer and we'll figure it out"
Call the show "IS IT FUCKING CAKE?!"
The reveal would be the artist smashing their work with a sledge hammer or kicking it, lighting an M80 in front of it...etc
mickey is the bomb, future legend for sure...
It's Charlie
Mikey and Heidi playing a couple on "Weekend Update" who always argue is pretty good.
Nico Slobkin and Brie Bacardi. So good!
Mikey Day shirtless with cornrows in the background of the Waffle House sketch is always funny.
Ed Wynn played Mary Poppins uncle, I think. Very funny and sweet man. Maybe played the Fairy God Father in Cinderella? Mmm, maybe?
Critics choice is the best standup special ever

Seinfeld fine, but my fave Pop Tart bit is from Brian Regan. Zap fry

Ed Wynn was the voice of The Mad Hatter in the 1951 Disney animated Alice In Wonderland, as well as Uncle Albert in Mary Poppins.
A great utility player.
hey guys .... thanks
No problem man
THERE IS NO TERRAZANO'S!
Mikey Day is so much more talented than any of the original SNL cast!
Matt Schatt is wearing crocs, with socks!
You can't compare a hostess cupcake or twinkie to a breakfast product (the poptart).
Why not? Cause it’s the best of what your parents would allow for breakfast?
How bout toaster strudel?
@@LollieVox Seinfeld, Carvey, and Spade were adults when Toaster Strudels were introduced
Is it my imagination or is David taking the lead more since Dana’s son died, or maybe they are just getting into a better rhythm? 🥁

Dana classic: drunken *"..the JUDICIAL System"* LMAO *classic* 🍿
we need video
Can't wait to see David kn Charlotte 😍
If you like Mikey Day and/or Tracy Morgan and/or Neal Brennan watch Totally Awesome (2006), you will not regret it
Woody Harrelson hands down the best Joe Biden, wish they would invite him back for the current election cycle. Sooo funny, every time.
Weird timing, I heard the guy that invented pop tarts died this morning.
For real?? 😮😢😮
You don't hear the word 'bludgeon' used often in reference to a comedy bit.
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Now someone tell Dana that's it's Kate McKinnon. Not McGinnon.
She's lucky anyone knows who she is

Warning David. Do not call New Orleans “Nawlins”. I lived there for 15 years and no one says that. Sorry Dana but I love you and you are old.
Audacy??? Need to update your artwork fellas
I hope we get to hear some interrupting
Shhhhhh man. Just enjoy
I think you mean “Mickey” Day.
I think either Mikey or Jost would be a great Hunter Biden.
Why are some of these episodes called "Superfly"?
Superfly is a separate podcast. It's an offshoot of FOTW.
Isn't Jerry Seinfeld Jewish though? Pop tarts have gelatin which contains pork. 🤷
pizza w-hut?
Wait guests never ask you questions Dana? I remember you had a really long episode with Jimmy Kimmel where all he did was ask you questions
That's because Jimmy was the guest host of that one.
