+ZebbMassiv does the fibers strength actually matter in 3d printing though? As I understand it the filament is essentially just sawdust mixed with some sort of binding agent, usually pla or abs so the fibers are not what gives the prints strength but the binder. If that is true a print done in any cellulose material should theoretically be the same if the binders are the same.
rc-wingman It's hilarious if you think that can make everything a 3d printer can make! There are some things that even the most expensive cnc machines can't make. To be more precise, things that only additive manufacturing can make, not subtractive manufacturing.
depends what kind of cnc if you buy a cheap one, no it does not do the same as a 3d printer but most profesional ones can do the same. Maybe even more precisly and the material is actual wood instead of some fake grass fillament
so, how many wood like properties does this material have? should it be recycled like pla or disposed of like wood? can it be used for fule? (obviously printing logs to burn is dumb, but if you have a failed print or an object you have no nees for anymore, it is nice to have that option) can it be used for agricultural purposeses? how would it fair ground up and thrown into a compost bin? would the wood decomposes leaving behind a bunch of pla dust i could potentially collect and recycle?
+UlTrAcHaNgOn All I know is it's melting point is about 20 degrees lower than normal pla I hope that helps you may need to look there are a few videos on RUclips with the wood fill and the m3d
Im having problems printing my wood filament. It keeps clogging so I have to constantly watch the print and when it clogs, pause it, unclog then resume. Its a very boring job! I have to unclog it every 1min 30 secs to 2 mins! :( Any suggestions? Its 1.75mm filament in a Makerbot Replicator 2X?
I've never tried wood filament, but what I heard is that you need to have at least 0.4mm nozzle or higher, otherwise it'll clog much faster and easier.
How is this relevant? Wood is dried cellulose fibers from plants/trees thick enough to build things with. Whether bamboo is a grass or tree is irrelevant for it to be classified as wood. Go to Wikipedia and search either bamboo or wood and you'll find bamboo being classified under wood. Just do a keyword search.
+iSquamata think about doughnuts, they may be made with the same materials of other cakes, but they are called doughnuts Walls of the Bamboo is purous and fibrous like wood, but because the stem is hollow it's actually grass
I don't see any benefit whatsoever. People get wood primarily for the look and feel. 3D printing unless we can print the microscopic details, is gonna ruin the look and feel of wood anyway, so just stick to PLA. This filament is more like MDF than wood. I don't see the point.
The way you stained it makes it look fake like plastic.....
I wish hemp were legal so that we could have an even stronger filament.
+ZebbMassiv bwahahhahahahaha xD my dreams would come true aren't you sometimes too lazy to roll?
'NP! I GOT THAT! LEMME PRINT ONE!' xDD
+ZebbMassiv Move to CO. We're working on it.

ZebbMassiv in Canada it's legal, but lots of controversy about weed legality
no weed is not legal in Canada but it should be by april 2018
Looked best after first coat.
Bamboo is grass. Just quicker to grow than a tree.
Siskin's Bits and Bobs i was waiting for someone to point this out
YEP JUSS LIKA HEMP IT TAKES ONLY 2.5-7 MONTH TO GROW SO 1 ACRE IS ENOUGH TO MAKE A NICE CLEAN HOUSE ..........
Quicker is an undestatement, bamboo is the fastest growing plant in the world.
bugagagagaga YA MIGHTY SWORD CRACKED ON HALF BEFORE THE BATTLE BUGAGAGAGAGAGA NICE JOB MAC
You could stain, inlay, and finish it like wood too!
Has anyone done stress test videos on these products made with such a printer?
does it act like real wood if printed into veneer?
Sooo....what kind of glue should I use? Wood glue? PLA glue? Did you leave holes in the print for dowel rods?
This is what a CNC made for!
Haha, good luck making some the things a 3d printer is capable of, without a super expensive cnc machine.

Keuken Geit for this, sure a good CNC would do better, but there are some things subtractive manufacturing just can't physically do :)
should we buy the wood filament or bamboo filament?
Esun has both types
the real question is.... can you still get splinters?
0:59
i bought a 20$ versoion from amazonn works amazing
if I get wood fillament could i practice my wood carving
Have you ever used xtc 3d coating or considered carrying it in the shop? I've been wanting to try it but am kind of skeptical on how well it works.
can you put it in your normal 3d printer
Does this bamboo filament happen to be a material that can float ?

The possibilities
does this work with a 3doodler
i have the micro3D printer (M3D), this filament works with my printer??
I have seen many people use it so I'm going to say yes :)
+Dawson Boyle thanks bro, do you know the settings?
+UlTrAcHaNgOn All I know is it's melting point is about 20 degrees lower than normal pla I hope that helps you may need to look there are a few videos on RUclips with the wood fill and the m3d
cool
This is so cool! How much bamboo wood is there in the filament?
ElectronFun.com 20% bamboo fiber according to the webpage
knucklecorn Thanks, I missed that. So this filament is mostly PLA.
It’s not real wood. It’s BAMBOO!

+Glen McMurchy well if you don't print shoes it will git rid of your clog problem ;) lol
I've never tried wood filament, but what I heard is that you need to have at least 0.4mm nozzle or higher, otherwise it'll clog much faster and easier.
lel get ultimaker
well forget yall then... ill take my comedy gold elsewhere.....
1% bamboo 99% pla
spliff print
3D Printed Hemp ..... get stoned and think of the coolest idea to 3D print ..
Me want
Yo!
Bamboo is a grass not a wood
bamboo is a grass not a wood......
i was just about to comment that XD

still a cellulose based filler like wood
Technically, Bamboo is grass not wood
what is wood?
Wood is a stem made up of fibrous and porous "tissue"
Grass is a stem that is hollow
Handskemager I see
But aren't the walls of bamboo porous as well? if they are, doesn't that make them considered wood?
+iSquamata think about doughnuts, they may be made with the same materials of other cakes, but they are called doughnuts
Walls of the Bamboo is purous and fibrous like wood, but because the stem is hollow it's actually grass
+Handskemager none the less it's still a fairly impressive filament

#adamsavage really needs to know about this!
......eeeeee, bamboo is a grass ^^ ..............
