I thought it was Superstitious, too, so don't worry there. As for Omar, he's there because Earl has stepped down from the group. Back when they last had a member leave the group, they started doing songs with... guest singers. During that time, they had a good number of songs "featuring JNone" before he became the new permanent fifth member of the group. I'm pretty sure it is them testing the water with other musicians, seeing who they gel with, and who the fans respond well to. And yes, while I'm sad to see Earl go from the group (Just Sing was actually the last video he was in!), I trust VoicePlay to do well with carrying on and keeping the quality going. As for Superstition, I really enjoyed this song, myself. It's a good interpretation/cover of the song.
I absolutely loved your reaction; you always show so much emotion and point out interesting things. I always think VP can't possibly do any better but every time they prove me wrong! Eli, the name you were forgetting, absolutely killed this with his high notes. Geoff, love him so much and I think he's overtaken Vincent Price (showing my age here but he was an actor years ago known for doing great horror films) as the man who can do the spookiest voice. J has turned me into a rap lover; I've never been fond of it but he killed it. Layne is always there keeping that beat & I think we tend to forget about him because he is so good if that makes sense. Omar has been friends with several of the guys for years; he worked at Disney with Geoff. Also, Geoff played Frankenstein at Disney for like 10 years so you're right about his voice. Thanks for this. I've been going back to this performance recently, and listening again and again. I got issues. I never seem to get over feeling bad about liking their version better than Stevie Wonder's. I'm old. I remember when this came out and it electrified me. But - like David Draiman's cover of Sound of Silence, this simply shifted everything. Loved Simon and Garfunkel, but the world has moved on. Draiman's cover is relevant and compelling in a way S & Gs no longer is. That's how I felt here. Adore their ability to entertain while shifting everything and keeping it current. Powerful musicality! Still a bop, but so much more.
