Geoff has said this is Warriors 2.0 - several years have passed, they've lost Earl and J. None to the zombie horde, found Cesar and Omar, and are now reflecting on all that's happened
It's easy to overlook it due to the three tenors who, wow, are killing the upper registers of the song, but throughout this entire piece, Geoff keeps tossing off subharmonics like they're nothing. Remember his How To Sing Really Low tutorial, where Geoff stated he was still 'terrible' at subs? Hahahaha... as ridiculous as that statement was then, it's even more so now with his ability to navigate between chest and sub with apparent ease. Some of those bass lines were just crazy. But Eli, Cesar and Omar absolutely deserved the spotlight in this one. Some really epic vocals on their parts. And Layne- I still want to know what the hell that noise was, and how he made it! That man is a mad genius, I swear.
I think the sound was to represent critters running across the floor as they do in run down vacant buildings. Layne also did that 8 note base drop not Geoff. Take notice how Geoff always looks over at Layne when he does something like that. Layne & Eli can hit notes as low as Geoff.
Layne's been hitting us with that "pulse" effect since Hoist the Colors, at a minimum. Also in Dragonborn Comes. He's definitely trained up a really astonishing sound effect that just doesn't sound like something a human being should be able to produce. I find it bizarre that he didn't actually start out as a beat-boxer with this group, he took over the role when the original left them way back when. But he's so GOOD at it it feels like he was born with a mutation. What sets VoicePlay, Pentatonix and Home Free apart and at the top of the a capella crowd is that every single member is a master of their craft. There are no spear carriers. And yet none of them seem to be divas, either. They work together fantastically.
Wow. How can I can say anything else! Amazing! Dave just so you know, it's been said that Geoff's voice could melt butter (which I think is probably true) but your voice is pretty smooth too! There's so much emotion and excitement in your videos but your voice stops you from getting out on the top of your roof and yelling, "FREEEEEDDDOM!" and instead has the watchers painting a happy little mountain right here, there's no mistakes just happy little surprises. That's probably the worst way possible to try and describe the emotional field trip in your videos! I've never had a bad experience yet! Keep em coming!
You looked so sad when it was over! The good news is - you can listen whenever you want!! Your reactions continue to be priceless, and you make me smile every time! Thank you, Dave.
I can't even....Once you get hooked on Voiceplay you just can't ignore the craving! And I can totally relate to wanting to just scream with excitement and awe of their mind-melting talent!
When I first heard this, and heard Geoff’s low F1 notes, I immediately, in my mind, saw your stank dragon breath face, and broke up laughing. I just couldn’t wait for you to react to it. Thanks Dave.
7:21 if you pay real close attention, 2 of the voice are in pure falsettos but one of the three sounds like mix voice. i think that's eli and damn it's impressive edit: after checking again i think he might be singing an octave down. still, sounds awesome.
@@barbarakennedy2667 i'm gonna assume by tenor voice you're meaning "chesty" voice, so chest and mix. physiologically, the way your larynx is placed in your throat (not where it is, but how it is) to the ear, it's a distinct texture. (i believe scientifically one of the frequency that defines your voice (called formant) changes if you're in mix or in falsetto, could be wrong though) but really, youtube mix voice vs falsettos and you should find plenty of answers that are not me trying to explain sound in words
This needed to be longer! I get the whole “always leave them wanting more” adage, but damn! It made my morning to see you already had your reaction up. Great one, Dave!
The one you were forgetting for Omar was Carry on Wayward Son. He's amazing and he fits into this group so well. This was so epic!! I was all over the place when I saw it. Love your reaction, Dave!! I'm gonna watch this one again and then I'll try to catch the next ones you do for today. See ya there! 😄
While the power trio of tenors carry the bulk of the song, anchored by Eli's rock tenor voice and Omar's amazing high tenor and Cesar working to match Omar in the highs and his great energy, then Geoff giving us subs and the bass foundation and the occasional sung line, Layne with some VERY innovative beatboxing - yeah, I hated when it ended. A great original Aerosmith song done - impossibly well - as a capella. The dystopian set, costumes, and make-up bring the atmosphere, but VP brings the voices for a classic rock song.
Your reactions and breakdowns/analytics get better and better! I love watching you respond to them and genuinely appreciate not only their awe inspiring vocals but their many other talents and skills that they coordinate and excel in. Your joy and appreciation keep me coming back for more. Individually they are incredible, but as a whole they are devastatingly spectacular.
My dear I was with you every single second of this masterpiece. I did my best to keep my composure when I first listened to it at work. But now at home...oh my god!!!!!!! Freaking great reaction
Perfect reaction. I only tried to comment after I heard it the first time, and I was incoherent. The sheer weight of all of that genius is crushing. I was holding it together - barely - until Layne's first wild beatbox 'run' hit, and after that I was done for. And the song had barely begun.
The only way this can be beaten is if they did it with Aerosmith. Dream on is one of my favorite Aerosmith songs and what Voiceplay did was revamp it for me. I absolutely loved the way this came together.
These guys are phenomenal ,Geoff you are my icon ,the way he hit those low notes ,damn man l can't possibly think how you do that but thats impressive and the rest of the guys are so great ,love the harmony and Lane man ,you are killing me with that beat boxing
I totally get the voiceplay effect. At work sometimes I just can't concentrate until I listen to a specific song 🤣. Love your reactions as always. Though I wish it had an Eli metal scream in it
Omg officially the 100th comment You’re réaction is everything Ur commentary is soooooo spot on I love me some Omar vocals 🔥🙌🏼 They’re so talented god bless
That 8 note you were talking about was done by Layne the beat boxer. If you take notice, Geoff always looks at Layne every time he does something like that. Layne can hit notes as low as Geoff. Eli can too.
Cesar and Omar are best friends and if you weren't told or didn't know, Omar and EJ Cardona, from Voctave and from VP's cover of Carry On My Wayward Son, are brothers. I know EJ has been in more than just wayward Son but I can't look it up right now lol.
I'd never heard this version before, and wow is it ever good. Although I still think my favorite version of this song is the Postmodern Jukebox version.
So that is what it is called `The VoicePlay Effect` I wonder if there is a chance of ever healing or is it a lifelong afliction? I think I don´t even mind...
Not sure if anyone can help me, but how many members are and/or have ever been in VoicePlay? Because my thought process is that every featured person becomes a member.
Your reaction had me laughing! So. I don't know why, but this one doesn't rank in my top two or three for VP. Hoist the colors, number 1. Bang! Number 2. I would have to go with Little Mermaid for number 3. Oogie Boogie 4. It's not that this cover is off or anything, and the harmonies and ranges are good. It's just that this version doesn't carry the rock vocal edginess of the original. Dan Vasc might be able to do that. Not sure.
Nice reaction, Dave. They do a decent job on this cover, but I prefer their cover of My Mother Told Me way more; this one just doesn't feature Geoff enough. And truly, I prefer Dan Vasc's cover of this song to this version. If I remember correctly, Dan did his version in 2016, and it's really good, but it would be interesting to hear him do an updated version. Check it out.
Love voiceplay but perhaps their worst cover. This song is just too classic to cover. There are just a few songs that shouldn’t be touched and this is one.
Geoff has said this is Warriors 2.0 - several years have passed, they've lost Earl and J. None to the zombie horde, found Cesar and Omar, and are now reflecting on all that's happened

I agree, Hoist the Colors is the PERFECT A cappella song.
Cesar and Omar are very good friends too.
They're natural together and add the rock/rasp voice of Eli and you have musical gold.
I give up! EVERYTHING VP has been doing is #1 in my list!!! 🔥
Wow. How can I can say anything else! Amazing!

Omar's brother E.J. Cardona was the guest on Go The Distance. He's otherwise employed at Voctave.
I can't even....Once you get hooked on Voiceplay you just can't ignore the craving! And I can totally relate to wanting to just scream with excitement and awe of their mind-melting talent!

It never fails to crack me up, that stank face you do every time Geoff drops the bass. 🤣🤣
Geoff takes us into the basement before Eli, Omar and Cesar take us to the heavens
Dave's you're so funny 😂 like you didn't expect that voiceplay was gonna make it all their own. That is the voiceplay experience Dave man.
Breathe Dave.......I thought you had just had a Conniption Fit!!!!
Your Facial Expressions Redd Fox, Love Em,They Got Down
They give us the video, we need the movie! They all end so soon...
This was filmed in Eli's old high school and it made the perfect set for this song. I loved every single one of them in this. So, SO good!
It would be awesome to know what Steve Tyler thinks of this...it’s so incredibly good!

And listen to how high Geoff gets in the bass line!
This needed to be longer! I get the whole “always leave them wanting more” adage, but damn!
It made my morning to see you already had your reaction up. Great one, Dave!
I just love you. I look forward to your reactions to VoicePlay and Geoff so much! Excellent reaction!
The one you were forgetting for Omar was Carry on Wayward Son. He's amazing and he fits into this group so well. This was so epic!! I was all over the place when I saw it. Love your reaction, Dave!! Oh yeah! I've been looking forward to your reaction to this!

Cesar had the highest note in the end (He did an interview with another reactor)
Geoff plays a mean bass guitar--with his voice! Great reaction!🙂
Your reaction, which I have been eagerly waiting for, has made my day!
Omar was also on Wayward Son.
I really enjoyed your reaction, dave.. For voiceplay and homefree reaction, i always watch yours first 😆
Your reactions and breakdowns/analytics get better and better! I love watching you respond to them and genuinely appreciate not only their awe inspiring vocals but their many other talents and skills that they coordinate and excel in. Your joy and appreciation keep me coming back for more. Individually they are incredible, but as a whole they are devastatingly spectacular.
I'm sad too!! Omg that was amazing!!!
You look like I felt after the first time I heard that song...then I remembered that I get to hear it any time I want...it is incredible huh?
Postmodern Jukebox
Morgan James
Dream On
Stunning, also.
My dear I was with you every single second of this masterpiece. I did my best to keep my composure when I first listened to it at work. But now at home...oh my god!!!!!!! Freaking great reaction
I loved your comment about needing a scream space - In the meantime - watch Brad Steel's reaction to this.
This broke your brain! 🤣 Love you and your reactions!
I’ve been waiting and anticipating your reaction! 😊💖
I am so glad you are reacting to this one! I knew it would blow your mind
Excellent reaction as usual. This song is epic for me now
Love how much your love for music shows!
Perfect reaction. I only tried to comment after I heard it the first time, and I was incoherent. The sheer weight of all of that genius is crushing. I was holding it together - barely - until Layne's first wild beatbox 'run' hit, and after that I was done for. And the song had barely begun.

Wow! I really enjoy your reactions... so honest and pure! Keep up the awesome work!
Wow that was amazing, the way the song flowed was just crazy.
Since you mentioned it.......Can you just Imagine the reaction of Steve Tyler himself if he was to sit and listen Intently to this version?!!!
I want to see that!
Geoff did mention during the bts that this was a bit like a sequel to warriors only Earl and J got eaten and they picked up Cesar and Omar!❤️🏴
I really enjoy your reaction. Love Voiceplay ❤. Thx for sharing.
These guys are phenomenal ,Geoff you are my icon ,the way he hit those low notes ,damn man l can't possibly think how you do that but thats impressive and the rest of the guys are so great ,love the harmony and Lane man ,you are killing me with that beat boxing
I also wanna yell AHHHHHHHHH 😭 😆 GREAT reaction love your channel ♥️
Great Reaction!
Same
I totally get the voiceplay effect. At work sometimes I just can't concentrate until I listen to a specific song 🤣. Love your reactions as always. Though I wish it had an Eli metal scream in it
The ARRANGEMENT 🤯🤯🤯❤️🙌🙌
Can’t wait till I get home from work to watch this wooo
My first time on your channel. I loved your reaction. This rendition is perfection!
Omg officially the 100th comment
You’re réaction is everything
Ur commentary is soooooo spot on
I love me some Omar vocals 🔥🙌🏼
They’re so talented god bless
Glad you survived this one, Dave! XD
Your reactions are the best! Love it.
Interesting that Layne figured out how to swallow a helicopter.
What you said!! AGREED 🎉
That face you made killed me lol 😆 🤣 😂 😅
Wow, wonderful starting with Eli
Geoff has something coming out soon, all I will say is get ready!
Great reaction thanks!!!
Thanks for your reaction!
Knew you would love this one Dave :)
They should make Omar Cardona a permanent menber! He is so freaking good!
Love you Dave! Great reactions and so sincere.
That 8 note you were talking about was done by Layne the beat boxer. If you take notice, Geoff always looks at Layne every time he does something like that. Layne can hit notes as low as Geoff. Eli can too.
Great reaction
Also react to the 'dream on' cover of postmodern jukebox.
You will love it.
Check out Geoff's new solo in The Rains of Castamere. All I have to say is WOW.
I don't know Dave, you geeked pretty hard to The Dragonborn Comes.
Cesar and Omar are best friends and if you weren't told or didn't know, Omar and EJ Cardona, from Voctave and from VP's cover of Carry On My Wayward Son, are brothers. I know EJ has been in more than just wayward Son but I can't look it up right now lol.
You gotta hang in there man!
I'd never heard this version before, and wow is it ever good. Although I still think my favorite version of this song is the Postmodern Jukebox version.
Voiceplay just dropped this yesterday. A lot of reactors are covering it right away.
F1 sub is the word you are looking for.
Fantastic
is it just me or have we not heard cesar go up that high? that was like eli level high
Yes
Geoff the human sub woofer
Dave, a correction - Dan did his version in May 2014, and he crushed it! An updated version would definitely be even better.
So that is what it is called `The VoicePlay Effect` I wonder if there is a chance of ever healing or is it a lifelong afliction? I think I don´t even mind...
They make it seem so easy don't they?
Are you gonna do a reaction to Jonathan Young's new music video? I know the song is on his album but it has a cool music video now.
I think he was the one who did the Hercules song
Speak for yourself. Us low Basses are another species.
The other song is Carry on my wayward son
It's Eli's old high school.
Not sure if anyone can help me, but how many members are and/or have ever been in VoicePlay? Because my thought process is that every featured person becomes a member.

It's definately different from the original, but still enjoyable. For the "dragon voice" try Colm McGuinness's Dragonborn (100k subscriber special)
It was so broken up hard to enjoy
Love voiceplay but perhaps their worst cover. This song is just too classic to cover. There are just a few songs that shouldn’t be touched and this is one.
Great Reaction!
