This was a post apocalyptic plot sequel to their song "Warriors". Story wise, 2 of their fellow survivors (J None, Earl) were taken at some point, and along the way, they found 2 more survivors ( Cesar and Omar).
Let's bring this full circle...According to Geoff, this video, thematically, was a direct sequel to an Imagine Dragon's cover that Voiceplay put out a couple of years ago called "Warriors". When you two get back around to reacting to "Enemy", you should check out "Warriors" too. You'll see another trick Layne has up his sleeve that people just learning about Voiceplay don't know about. Well, you can't help but see it in the thumbnail for the video, but you should check it out regardless. I know a lot of people say this, but "Warriors" truly is one of the best covers that Voiceplay has ever done. My jaw refused to get up off the floor after the first time I watched, and I still get goosebumps every time I've listened to it since. I'd love to see you guy's reaction to it. You will NOT be disappointed.
Geoff joked that Dream On is a sequel to Warriors -- the zombies got Earl and J. None, the surviving members of the group picked up Omar and Cesar, and carried on. They filmed in Eli's high school, now abandoned. They walked in, swept up broken glass, ran extension cords, and started filming. Apparently it smelled as bad as it looked. "Where's the bathroom?" one of the crew guys asked. "We're standing in it," Geoff replied.
I'm old enough I have never not known Aerosmith's version, but this one blew me away. The lyrics are so clear and the staging reinforces the melancholy tone of the words, which we never really get from Tyler, as good as he is.
I second the request for you to react to Geoff's latest solo, Way Down by Elvis Presley. Geoff sings Elvis's lead part as well as the backing vocals from legendary bass J.D. Sumner. Make sure to watch all the way 'til the credits roll.
Cesar actually took the high on the end of the song. Glad you guys are back.
You should also react to Geoff’s newest ‘solo’ song, Way Down. It on his channel, and a playful homage to the King.
Cesar is able to blend beautifully with Eli and Geoff.
I gave up picking favorites with these guys a long time ago. It changes every time I think about it. LOL.

If you want to see other Voiceplay videos with Omar in them, there is Carry On My Wayward Son and Superstition. My understanding of this song is that Cesar sang the highest note, Omar was a step below that and Eli was a step below Omar. Cesar actually said he was the highest note in a video reaction he did with another reactor named Mortius on this song.
Not only did they do the 'scream' at the end, they did it in 3 part harmony!! According to Cesar, he did the highest note in the ending 'scream'.
When Pentatonix gained success, Avi and Kevin just set the standard for the bass and percussions respectively in their music. Flat out Geoff and Layne are now the gold standard in that department. They work so well and compliment each other so well. And one thing that people do not talk enough about is how Geoff in some old these songs like this one, Carry on my Wayward Son and the last one Enemy has copied the iconic bass lines and added to them. And has captured that bass guitar sound so well. They are a key component that makes this group so great in my opinion.

The song is so iconic that Geoff and Layne had to bring in Rob Dietz to help with the arrangement.
Rob is an icon in the A capella world.
It was so much fun watching you two being amazed by VoicePlay's rendition of this tune. It actually reminded me a lot of how many reactors responded to Hoist the Colours when it came out. With every release, VoicePlay somehow manages to improve, to bring something new and exciting and utterly creative. I don't know that I've ever seen a group quite so vibrant as these guys.
Something a little different which might be fun- VoicePlay have a series of Minis-- short pieces, from about a minute and a half to thirty seconds in length-- that run the gamut from theme music for tv shows to short songs (including some Disney and Pixar) to streaming app sounds and more. You could do a whole handful of those in one video; they are all a lot of fun. I love their cover of the Stranger Things theme music, as well as their most recent release- Your Turn To Role- the Critical Role theme (with Ashley Diane!).
BTW, should have mentioned, VoicePlay Minis have their own channel now, separate from VoicePlay's original channel. All the Mini videos are accessible from the Minis channel, but some of the videos are still located on VoicePlay's original channel.

Just love that you're back again so soon! This was a radical reinterpretation of the song and I LOVED it. From a hopeful anthem of hope and determination, to one of regret and loss. This is one of my favorites too...
Really enjoy the Uncle Gij and Katie show, guys!! Even when I don't know the piece that Voiceplay is doing - I was a young mother and not into that era of rock, so had no clue - I love their artistry, their vocal acuity, and sheer brilliance of everything they do! Still want you to be blown away by their Wicked medley; can't wait for that one.
When you react to Geoff's latest, Way Down, keep in mind his Ain't No Sunshine. The contrast is phenomenal and Way Down is so, so good. Don't stop it when you think it's over, wait for the outro before his Patron list starts. Trust me!
Yes! And, Geoff's new cover of Elvis' "Way Down" is awesome and hilarious! And you need to react to Voiceplay's medley of the Broadway show "Wicked", best thing they have done in my opinion.

You're right, they are in a category of their own. A capella yes, but so much more. I don't know of another group who puts so much into a video, and it's all them. Omar was in the Skyrim one, also in Superstition. and in Carry On Wayward Son. Another thing about VP is that they cover so many genres. From Disney to Aerosmith and anything in betwee. That was Cesar dong that high note by the way, on his own. And have you see their Wicked yet?

Please do - not that I didn't watch yours but I did miss the conversation between the two of you. This was Eli's old abandoned high school in Leesburg, FL. As Josh below me here mentions Warriors, this old school is very similar to Warriors staging. It is not purely acapella but with Layne playing and J None plucking the 2 violins, it is a feast for the ears and eyes. Do cover it you won't be sorry. By the way, Cesar hits G5 and G#5 in that ending. They also incorporated dub-step here. Mortius reacted to this but with a difference - he had Cesar in the video with him. Learned so much during that combination.

Never would have imagined this type of song could be arranged A Cappella style and sound so good, Geoff (and Rob Dietz) did a fantastic job with this cover! If you react to "Superstition" and "Carry On Wayward Son" you'll probably agree with a lot of fans that Omar should be made an official member. 1) He sounds amazing with VoicePlay and 2) He lives in Orlando. I love VoicePlay and Home Free so much I got tattoos for both groups put on my arm. Sent a pic to VoicePlay through FB and they loved it. Going to show Tim and hopefully Austin the Home Free one in person next month.
OMG! Loved Wolfman Jack during my teenage years way back when. Omar was also in Superstition.
My favorite so far is the wicked medley. Geoff spent a lot of time arranging it and as far as I know it's the only 6 person song since the song off

Please please do a reaction video of Voice Plays cover of In The Hall Of The Mountain King. It was originally written as an out piece & played by a symphony orchestra ( no words. The tune was used in the play as background music also used in several cartoons & movies.
Aerosmith is just a lot of noise & all Stephen Tyler does is scream. Voice Play adds a visual story line to this song.
