The song is from Fiddler on the Roof....about a poor Jewish man and his family dealing with daily life in Russia at the beginning of the Revolution. (definitely not Latin lol) Voiceplay flipped it on its ass and gave it an awesome, energetic pop feel........and it was so fun seeing Layne have some feature singing instead of just beat boxing...he has a great voice! Love your reactions as always! you are such a fun reactor!
I believe he was referring to the Gwen Stefani cover "If I were a rich girl" which is definitely a more "pop/latin" version of the original. But the original, much like a lot of Fiddler on the Roof, has a very klezmer band vibe and runs which is traditionally in pentatonic and blues scale progressions which can also be found in more modern latin pop music. So I can see where he's coming from. Growing up with both versions of the song played constantly in my house, this was definitely a fun upbeat pop flare to the original. I love watching your reactions! Keep up the great work!
You're talking about Cesar bringing the runs to Voiceplay, but people seem to forget that Eli does amazing runs. Everybody knows Geoff for his bass and they remember Layne for his beat-boxing, but Eli's over here doing some amazing vocal work, too. Not to say Ceasar won't bring it to the table, but Voiceplay fans haven't been lacking for runs here.
Every single one outdid themselves this time. I love Geoff's slide, Layne singing, harmonies from Cesar and Eli. But truly Ashley is da bomb. You're reaction is always so much fun and it echos mine. Was waiting for your face for certain parts of this song. So much fun.
This show "Fiddler on the Roof" is an actual story about my father's side of our family. Odessa, Russia. This rendition is by far the Most powerful version I have ever heard. Chaim Topal, the Original "Tevye" of the Musical is still alive in Tel Aviv. Would be interesting to know how he would like this version. I saw him perform this Musical in London1983. Great!!
Oh, I was so looking forward to your reaction, because I knew that G4-E4-C2-F1 progression was going to murder you where you sat! And yeah, you did not disappoint! Also, I agree, loved Ashley's "What?" Like, girl, you know full well what. 😆
If you know that Geoff ain't human, clap your hands.... If you know that Geoff ain't human, clap your hands.... If you know that Geoff ain't human but you love 'em anyway, If you know that Geoff ain't human clap your hands.
Dave, the musical term you were looking for about the song is that it's in a minor mode. It is. Voice play plays with that too, in this fabulously outstanding arrangement. They need to get Ashley into the group. The women they feature are wonderful all, but Ashley FITS. Your reaction was so delightful! Made me laugh! Thanks.
I agree with you, Dave, Ashley is DA BOMB! And, you're right, the bass did mutate, like a sub-harmonic organizm, but only because Geoff is a mutant himself! Come on, we all know that😉
LOL, I love how VoicePlay wrecked you with this one. Delightful reaction, from Geoff mutating species at 5:38 to "What do you you mean, What?" to the High/Low-Range Geoff + Ashley rendering you unconscious at 8:38
Love your comment and reactions, you are the best. So good to have you back. Yes they still amaze us, with their songs. Always thinking that now they can not top that, but wrong.....❤😂👍
Actually, Gwen did a cover of "If I was a Rich Girl" from two Carribean singers, who copied it from the "Fiddler on the Roof" original version. And it was Dr. Dre's idea.
Loved your response, as always! Early on you commented on your love for runs.... so I was just WAITING to see you react to the outrageous Ashley run. Such fun! Really appreciate your re-plays on key parts of the song. It's crazy, I was just saying to someone the other day that - to me, and as much as I love her voice - Adriana just doesn't have the sass and presence to hold her own. Watching the group always made me feel like the men were holding back a little. Now ASHLEY! She has exactly what I was missing. Rachel has it, but apparently Rachel isn't available. Hoping to see more Ashley - she may be a great 5th member if things work out.
Bro your reactions are so fun to watch. I usually just check out songs I know and like on reaction channels but you just got this personality that makes me wanna watch other stuff, and your channel has shown me a lot of new artists I regularly listen to. Thanks for your content!
Great reaction as always! I think you’re primarily thinking about Gwen Stefani’s version. She’s altered the lyrics a lot from the original song, which is from the musical “Fiddler on the Roof”. VoicePlay’s lyrics are the original lyrics (except when Ashley sings “girl” instead of “man”).
I'm really happy with this one, after a little practice I was able to sing Geoff's part spot on, and Ashley is amazing, I hope she does more songs with them.
You amuse and delight me! Watching your reaction videos is always a joy. I’ve embraced new artists because of your channel. Keep on spreading the light. ❤️

And at the same time, honored the original!
It seems theyve taken the Gwen Stefani version and mixed it with the words of the original and jazzed it up.

“Singing down there with Bowser”. LOL. We showing our age big brother. I remember Sha Na Na too. 😂
True dat!

At this point Geoff’s vocal range is so not fair. 😑

They had the balls to turn a broadway classic into a DJ Snake song 😂😂😂
5:55 nice C2. But that’s not the note he hit it’s the note he slides up to
I know It isn’t haha. I need more practice before I get that low.

Your facial expressions are the best. I really get a kick out of it. You have the market cornered on " stink face". Awesome

She deejay young'ed that note. Tell me she did sound like him on her high. 😂😂😂
That was my first thought too, lol
On that run I thought Rachel Potter
Love your comment and reactions, you are the best. So good to have you back.
Yes they still amaze us, with their songs.
Always thinking that now they can not top that, but wrong.....❤😂👍
This is from a classic musical, “Fiddler on The Roof.” Gwen Stefani did a fun but loose cover of it.
I agree, fezzes are cool too

Geoff needs to explain this!!! HAHAHAHHA lol now he became more unpredictable than before.
Go over to Geoff's channel and listen to his cover of "High & Dry" from Radiohead if you want to hear his range on display.
@@randiskye4444 already watched it, thanks btw.
Ashley held her own with the group and had the attitude for VoicePlay. What fun!
You want runs, you came to the right group. Thanks for your reaction

Live Play just keep giving us the good stuff!! Appreciate your fun reaction!
Ashley and Cesar should be PERMANENT MEMBERS. Who agrees? 😎
Good to have you back with us, Dave! Your reactions always brings a smile to my face! ❤
WOW. They have done it again. Amazing.

New sub here *waves*!! I love your reactions, especially VoicePlay / Geoff Castellucci ones
Hello! Welcome!
I love your reaction to this. They really outdid again. ❤️
Also, DAVE YOUR LOW NOTES ARE
*cheff's kiss* mwah! Geoff is proud!
haha i just Love all your video's and all your Reactions! :) the beatboxing and Geoff's voice change is just insane
No... definitely not "Latin". The original is Jewish/Yiddish.
I love this video, can’t wait to see your reaction
His reactions are always so fun. I wait and interrupt whatever I'm doing to watch it as soon as I get the notification.
I hope they make her the 5th member. She brings so much to the plate. Love your reactions Dave.
5:05 I love this middle-middle-eastern sound
If I Were A Rich Man is from the Jewish movie Fiddler on the Roof.
Awesome! This song took us on a rollercoaster ride and your reactions had me giggling and agreeing and saying "get hold of yourself man".
Gives me chills, so precise, so wonderful voiceplay is awesome, Ashley is amazing
Layne, when given a chance has the ability to hit those low notes almost as low as Geoff. He has done it in several songs while he was beat boxing.
I'm really happy with this one, after a little practice I was able to sing Geoff's part spot on, and Ashley is amazing, I hope she does more songs with them.
look at this guy vibe, this really made me smile
"...acting all innocent..." 😄
Bro, you actually got a pretty good vocal range yourself! I believe you hit an A#1 at 6:13 in pure chest voice! That's actually really impressive!
9:05-9:14 ROFL 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 WITH BOWSER BRO 🔥🔥🔥
Awesome way to start today. Thx for making me laugh sir!
Awesome reaction as always Dave!!! 😁
Getting your growl Dave. Keep up the good work!
Crazy good! Love your facial expressions as I had similar when a I heard this the first time!
Great Positive reaction as always Dave! Liked and watched to the end. Love VoicePlay! She is amazing! They're all amazing!
From the musical Fiddler on the Roof to which I was in three times
I have been waiting for your reaction since VP released this. I always love your reactions. Maybe that low note was the dragon.
You amuse and delight me! Watching your reaction videos is always a joy. I’ve embraced new artists because of your channel. Keep on spreading the light. ❤️
You should watch the movie version. Topol was the greatest Tevya ever
Glad to see you feel better 😁, I missed your videos
Holy Crap, Geoff is just a human 808 isn't he?
I knew you would enjoy this one. Geoff gas a couple of videos that have technics to hit those low notes
Hey Dave! Welcome back hope your feeling better! Good to see you, You are going to enjoy this one!
I think they brought a whole new light and take on this song. Everybody knows Rich Girl, and I think it's just as good as the original.
We appreciate you taking time to do those videos
You need to react to the original version of this song which is Topol from the musical Fiddler On The Roof :D
This video got me so pumped up that I bought the movie yesterday! ... Guy
Yesss! It is the best real live movie for me ❤❤🤗
This song came from the movie Fiddler On The Roof Dave
like a Broadway number!
i think you mean Layne ( The Beatboxer ) he has a great Voice . And he had some Singing Solos in the Past .
This somg is from the movie Fiddler on the roof
5:25 WHAT WAS THAT HAHA make me laugh
Please do a reaction video of Voice Play singing We Don't Talk About Bruno. They are fantastic.
thIs is amazing
you did a good job on your bass Dave with a little work you could be a amazing bass singer.
Goddamn Dave you’re a bass too!
They slayed you with this one!
We have discovered the bass and it's mutated. Anyone else think of David Attenborough straight away?
Dave: "I'm a sucker for runs"
Me: Oh sh*t, he's gonna jizz his pants in a few minutes...
She acting like she ain’t know what she did haha.
I loved your reaction :)
5:43 LMFAO 🤣
That has to be Layne doing the whistling too. The only other video I can remember him whistling on is It Ain’t Me.
The original beat was a Russian beat, but the Gwen Stefani version had a more Latin feel.
If you like runs, you should definitely check out Daryl Ong! ❤🤯🤗 he does mainly RnB
Whistling sounds like the X files.
Already one second
Wish somebody did the topol shake
Man you remind me so much of Dramasyde. You two should get together on something sometime.
They sang that in cursive
The original song has more of an Eastern European style to it.
Yes they've almost completely lost that.
If by Latin you Eastern Russia, then yes.
"If I were a rich girl"? Last time I checked, Reb Tevye was a man.
Latin. It's about a Jewish guy
i almost threw-up !! .. this version belongs at the bottom of a trash can !!! ... there is ONLY one pure version (The fiddler on the roof)
It’s Jewish.
