The most important part of our Initial D AE86 build has officially been installed! In today's video we install the final piece of our GTS conversion, the rear end. We took out the old SR5 rear end and put in a fresh GTS rear with a nice TRD LSD! The Hachiroku RIPS!!

Just going from the sr5 3.90’s to the gts 4.33’s is a world of difference. I used to run the weir performs 4.77’s and man it makes it an autocross beast 💪🏽

Dustin you might have to replace your brake master because of the brake drums require less pressure then a disc brakes set up or just adding a proportioning valve 😊👍🏽🔥🤙🏽

@@dustiinw it’s actually the brake proportioning valve, sr5 and gt-s master are the same. Your car is Kouki, so it came with the same valve IIRC.

Would recommend welding the brackets on the housing to add stronger support, eventually they’ll break with the abuse like mine did haha , get a spool set up with a 4.7 r&p 👌🏼

A loud diff can mean that it’s not shimmed properly, I had that issue on my 280z when I put an OBX diff in it (don’t buy an OBX diff)
But… If your diff has a reputation for being loud then I’m sure it’s fine

Fun times! I remember my first drift in a Hatchi Roku!! I was nervous as hell because I was the passenger, but my buddy was actually a decent driver and slid around this industrial complex at night in Riverside. Felt pretty awesome being in a tuned Corolla. Only difference was he had a welded diff. Still got the job done though. Personally it would be bad ass to have a Detroit locker or e locker that you could turn off and on when you wanted. Are you planning on putting any serious power in this car? N/a or boosted?
it's so much fun! The only "power" i really want to do is ITBs. Other than that, I just want to enjoy it!

This brings me back such good memories from when my father used to drive me around in his ae86 gts when I was a kid. I always used to love the sound of the diff because it was just different from all the other cars I had been in even though I had no idea what that sound actually was as a kid. I think it really adds to the experience but I get how it can be annoying lol

My thing is, why is the tofu shop logo not on the driver's side... Like yes, it's a ae86, but it's usdm left hand drive so put the sticker on the driver's side. It doesn't look right on the passenger side.

dustin i absolute love all of your builds，this 86 brought back so much memories from initial d. back like 20 years ago， 86（hatch/couple）cost around like 5k -7k usd only（malaysia）and there is one local bought a couple and daily it for 15 years，according to him，at
the time ppl bought the car is because of the 4age，back then it was popular on drag strip.cheap，easy to work on，swap with gze piston，conrods，cams and a turbo you could easily get around 350-400whp out of a 1.6l😂
