God man I used to play this game so much. I was very dedicated to playing this game mostly because it had my favorite characters and the fights were so much fun. I remember having saved up a lot of gems to get characters that I wanted like Zack when he had his BT came out, Weiss coming to global etc. The battle mechanics were so simple yet so fun that it made me actually think of how my turn should and shouldn’t be played. I think that the FR era was fun but at the same time boring because the fun side is that you had a character that you built from the ground up and when you completed it, it had a sense of accomplishment like you worked for this. The downside is that the majority of the fights would end like less than 20 turns and they went by pretty fast. Some had really big HP dumps like Iggy, Locke, Kadaj while others kinda sucked like minwu. It just felt the the thrill of a very hard boss fight was just gone with power creep. The hardest fight was the last six man fight on global that was just a pain in the ass. My favorite part about this game was that the BTs had themes for the corresponding character. There were many characters that the community wanted from Rikku to Angeal and some got in and others didn’t. I’m glad that I had this game in my life cause it helped me get thru some pretty deep stuff. Thank You DFFOO. The light will still shine in our hearts.
Zacks BT will always be such a special highlight for me too, cause of that Freedom OST, cry every time ;__; Everything was beautifully said too, thanks for checking it out and thanks DFFOO
First things first, amazing fucking video, didn't even feel like 40+ minutes tbh. The whole reason I met you, and a lot of the amazing people on your discord too, was purely because I randomly stumbled on your stream during my darker days, which was during 4-5 am my time! (cause of course with your Aussie streaming hours f u for that). It's a bit personal but you've really been a light in my tunnel back then. It's been a few years ago that I was watching your stream, and eventually started interacting with you guys, and strangely enough one of the few communities I was sticking around for for such a long time! I remember my god awful luck and continuous BT/FR pities, something pitying both (which was a LOT of my resources going through the drain) which was, after FR was released, one of the things that killed the enjoyment for the game for me, since it meant, as generous as the game was, that if you kept hard pitying stuff you'd HAVE to skip lots of your fav units, which meant overall having less teams and being forced seeing fav units pass by ):, and another part, that you addressed very detailed, was the broken FR era, think a lot of the people that were active in your discord alone stopped playing as well with how monotone the game became, which was a shame, cause I very much enjoyed this game, a LOT. I remember me and Luke's dumb self-made turn 0 Lufenia challenges pre-FR era, and that took loads of strategizing since above doing a turn 0 on it's own, you'd HAVE to play around the orb itself, so you'd be doing 2 mechanics at once, god I miss those times :^) All in all, thanks for the video, DFFOO really will be missed and had a massive impact on me, it's through this game we're friends now too (at least I hope we are ♥) But thanks for everything Xeno, it really was blast
Thanks man, I really appreciate you watching it all, I know most won't cause of it's length but it's nice to see some give it a fair shot. A lot of people in the Discord were literally the same as you, that's how I met Myth for example. A Raid from another CC during peak DFFOO and some people just really enjoyed my sarcastic vibes and stuck around, I think it helped I just loved to talk to people and treat everyone likes friends instantly. Honestly it's hard to even remember when we weren't good friends now, it's been couple years already. Thanks for sticking around Bungle Desh. I did try to emphasize that in the video a little, that the new era of weapons especially, made back to back pities harder on those that had shit RNG, despite that F2P goodness. The FR era really just fkd everything up man. Those runs you and Luke had, while stupid 😂 could only ever be achieved with smart players and those that could pay real close attention to bosses mechanics to somehow squeeze through a zero turn team, FR was just, there was none of that uniqueness, ever again. DFFOO had a massive impact on us all, I'm just really glad I'm making videos like these now, so I can one day look back at this long form content and go yeah, wow I remember so much more. I just wish I could have done the same for Mobious for you and I 😢 PS: Friends? lmao who are you, new YT who dis
if there's one thing I'll always appreciate about DFFOO, its how they gave Leon, the First Dark Knight from FF2, some beautiful Characterization w/his sister Maria and Dark Knight Lore Power via Dark Bind, Dark Stream(EX), Dark Erosion(LD), and Frigid Gloom(Burst in JP before end of service) in his gameplay. Its a true shame that this special characterization of Leon is basically gonezo, as it helped a lot for him, given the context of FF2 and why he became a Dark Knight, via being tempted by the Emperor. I really appreciate how they implemented the FF2 Cast of Leon, Maria, Guy, and Minwu(Soul of Rebirth+Sealed Ultima for the FF2 psp/dawn of souls extra contents), 🤲 alongside Firion and the Emperor's Dissidia movesets🤲 another thing I'll always appreciate is how they gave the FF2 Boss, The Hell Emperor's, draining physical attack in FF2 a canon name via the "Blood Rod" ability he uses. making it a thematically perfect opposite to Firion's signature Blood Sword. I deff agree the FR era was legit the downfall of the game, aside from the technically forced bring/pull new char to counter an FR effect, the fights eventually legit would take over an hour if you mistimed something, since there's no checkpoints(besides beginning of wave), which's very painful. I loved this game and was sad to see it go, but I'll forever appreciate the love they gave to FF2's characters. It makes me wonder if the game were still alive, given some of the interesting choice for characters chosen, it makes me question if they would've put it FF2's Tragic SuperBoss from FF2 PSP, the Eternally Young Summoner Deumion, in eventually, which I believe would be very possible. I'd love to see how the Destroy and Revive spells would've looked
some great lore about FF stuff here, which honestly many not many people know or remember that often cause it's so old now, love to see it! The devs really did pay so much homage and love to the OG games, and tried super hard to bring things to life for the first time, or recreate things. I truly think the devs who worked on this over the years were super passionate hardcore FF fans through and through. There's so many things we never got to see, as let's be honest there isn't another FF game that would have done what DFFOO was doing or will ever again, but I'm glad we got what we did, and the game resonated with so many people.
How I missed your voice Xeno, its Nostalgic the time we spend together playing this game with everybody the good and the bad..RIP Dissidia Opera Omnia, what a great video explaining what this game was
The death of this game is TRAGIC. I CRY at the thought of perhaps never being able to pray as Aerith in her red dress EVER AGAIN. Cross Slash, Army of One, Assault Rush, Moogle Toss SO MANY ANIMATIONS JUST GONE. I cry at the loss of such a fine game, which its developers rewarded their players for simply playing the game and basically forcing zero pay to win concepts to the player, involving such a refined storytelling, a massive and streamlined leveling system, and such gorgeous gameplay, we will never see a game like this again in our entire life period.
My brother in tears 🥲 This truly was a once-in-a-lifetime gacha and FF experience, we really won't get this again in the landscape of modern mobile gaming anymore, not a developer so eager to please the players with wanting nothing in return. Thanks so much for checking it out, I still think 6 months after this video's release, this is a one-of-a-kind FF game, people will never know what they missed out on in the future. I'm just glad I got to capture some of it so I can look back at this in the later years 🙏

Same man, I’ll miss competing for how many millions of gems we have 😂 no other game will ever be like this. Thanks for checking the video out Clown, hope you enjoyed it. I think after everything we’d been through last couple years last video was definitely fair to do, and maybe for those that look back on this game it’ll do it justice. I just hope we get the original style dissidia back on consoles/PC again one day too
Having not finished yet and just having gotten to the FR part: I FIRMLY believe that the Kam'lanaut FR bug on JP was something that screwed this game. It was an accident, yeah, but I'm guessing that legally, they couldn't nerf/patch the bug because of legal reasons. If you look around it, it was Kain, Krile and Yuna: The FR was easy to fulfill/low % increase, or niche with higher increases. I remember not getting Yuna FR the first time around and I wanted her the 2nd time around. By that time generic FRs were just easier to hit and the consistancy outranked the nicher FRs. I remember feeling proud of not having Kain because Kam was a GENUINE favorite of mine since his EX even. I got my favorite and he happened to he meta. I genuinely had no reason to pull for months. I started accumulating FR points and Gems and I stopped buying monthly passes and outfits since Kam was guarding my resources...
Also, characters were no longer niche (element enchanters/imperilers, tanks, etc). Characters like Iris, Setzer, Quina, Aerith, Rubicante, Kelgar that shut down all boss mechanics or characters were overtuned like Iris, Garnet, Aranea, etc... I tried playing with favorites only, but it got to a point in the FR era where even the specific team building this game was built on was non-existent because ONE unit could grind you through content.
Thanks so much for checking it out@@RitzMalheur means a lot! Yeah, I tried to make the video as general as possible In terms of explaining things incase people ever look back on things but you and I playing a long time know it was Kam that broke it, and started the trend of garbage FR era. You're right in the sense that, there may be something to the fact you can't change a characters kit like that if people spent money but, I truly think they should have and labeled it as a bug and fixed it anyway. I was one of the few who did not use Kam, I usually would be happy to engage in meta stomping, and while I did later cause like you said, too many FR's become generic 50-75% boosts in any team, none required niches, so it was hard not to meta things, I didn't wanna make it too easy unless I was busy IRL, but man, it snowballed so fast from Kain and Krille which I got both, to Kam and it was like, fuck lol Also yeah I tried to emphasise the niches and different playstyles characters had, or used to have, before FR ruined it all, hopefully I got that across well enough. It just become so boring, Tifa is my girl, will ride or die for her but man, using Tifa, or Rinoa for AOE, for literally months, and using tickets to get random things in between for me, what was the point. By the games end, before I spent all my gems before closure on random stuff they added for EOS, I had around 1.3 million gems, 1.1 was F2P, like, that's ABSURD. I stopped buying mog pass cause I didn't even need that $5 boost a month on anything anymore, I had every EX in the game, only missing less than 10 LD's, and FR's were pointless and never missed a BT, there's such a thing as too MUCH of a good thing, and while it's fun getting everything and savings tons, there comes a point where, why am I even playing, when I don't have to make choices anymore in summons, or in fights and content Thanks for taking the time to write out comments to read Ritz, much love
@@MyLivingLegacy Of course! You made an homage to a love letter that we both got to enjoy. I fully agree with everything you said, even the Kam thing being recanted. It sounds strange, but I'm still not done "grieving" over DFFOO, but wholesome, analytical and critical videos like this help me out a lot. You have a clear love for the game, but you have no issue pointing out the flaws, even when it came from something positive, and holding it's feet to the fire. Just hearing someone gush over it but not fanboy outright over DFFOO is really nice. Thank you for the rad video, it's in my Likes and my Favorites 🥺
@@RitzMalheur I don't think many people will be done grieving for a while, I'm just glad I left on my own terms before the end cause it would have hurt a whole lot more otherwise, but I'll always remember it fondly. Making this new channel back in Jan was a big thing for me, to slowly over time just cover random games I like and want to talk about, and so it finally gave me a chance to make a deep dive video on something so important like DFFOO. I've only ever made crappy summons videos and runs for dffoo otherwise lol, and prior other gacha games years back, so these types of videos are very new to me to make and script, edit etc but I'm glad with how it turned out, and I'm really happy some people have fond comfort in them, especially something that is important like DFFOO, I myself have anyway. I've watched the full video back a few times already just to remind myself of what we lost, and I'm sure I will over the years. Many thanks again Ritz, brightened my day a lot seriously. PS: I'm struggling to identify the pic, is it an OC? It looks like a mix of Lena, Vanille, Serah maybe? 😅 I can't tell if I'm losing my FF touch already lmao
I'm praying they make an offline version of it. It has so many great mechanics in it and so much care. They have made offline versions of gacha games before, so hopefully this gets a chance too
Yeah sadly that's actually not the case, not many companies at all ever have put the time and money into making a live service game a retail version to sell. I don't believe Sqex has ever done it, I've watched them shut down Mobius and Star Ocean that I played for years myself now, I could see in my head a version where it's offline kinda, where we all start from scratch and as we progress through more story and account ranks we get access to more weapons and materials, a good few hundred hours of content there, but that would require a lot of time and rebalancing the full game to work like that, so basically money. Sqex isn't known for good money making choices lol It's a shame to think all those game assets are just, gone now, lost. It's so weird, so much work over 7 years, never to see the light of day again, just sad man.
@@MyLivingLegacy I should have specified that square has never done it. but I think I have seen a few gacha's get repurposed as stand alone releases, though the only specific notable one i can think of off hand is the "megaman x dive offline " that is soon to release Though maybe we can get similar treatment for omnia opera if we keep pestering square lol. It really was a great game at its core, the bravery system works so well in a turn based jrpg its insane.
oh no dw I got what you meant, the Megaman one was the only one I as well had thought of, somebody else in the comments said that too. Sadly it's a dime a dozen, the money and time it would take to revamp the whole game to balance that out single player wise no gacha would be a lot for a 7 year old product, would be incredible tho. Yeah as I mentioned in the video, I truly do think the battle system is one of a kind for how simple as it's core it is, it's so in depth with so many units, I don't know if we'll ever see a turn based system like this ever again, it really sucks lol
And this is why I can't get into "always online" gacha games. We're at the mercy of the developers keeping the game online for us. Seeing the passion of players towards this game is saddening as its not returned by Square Enix. An offline version would be a god send.
100%, I still play a few gacha games and it’s really hard cause I AM having fun but man, I know I’ll either quit and look back and think it was wasted cause there’s no finale or they’ll go EOS and this will happen. Sadly there’s been literally a small handful of games in existence that went offline that were once gacha. It’s just too expensive for no return, it sucks.
Nah to be honest not at all to me. DFFOO was on its last legs way before EC came out, as a small CC for DFFOO and a Discord of DFFOO peeps, nobody but maybe 3-5 of us tried EC. Currently only 1 other than me play it that I know of, games even somehow more niche than DFFOO lol it's a miracle DFFOO lasted as long as it did, considering it's size. I don't think EC will last half it's length for example.
@@MyLivingLegacy I remember always getting distracted and doing a handful of lost episodes to recruit characters with. I only got to maybe Chapter 2 in Act 2. Never saw Acts 3 or 4.
@@mr.mystere4999 that’s fair, sqex did upload all story cut scenes to RUclips so in the future if you ever want to see the ending etc it’s all there actually.
So sad about dffoo would casually play it for a few months, ghen get burnt out. But community always seemed stable and such. So getting slapped with and end of service. Kinda killed me, im by no means a deep fan of it comparative to others, but still. Dffoo was a constant in my life for a few years, a backup. So to speak. Loved it when i played. Sad its gone.
Yeah even tho I never played it final 6 months cause I was burnt out too, it’ll be sorely missed for those that played it over the years off and on. Wasn’t another fan service game like it tbh
Although I am not a fan of the Final Fantasy series, I know you loved this game and it will be miss for the joy it brought you in your harder times, but I'm sure that a strong tough and terrific boy such as yourself will be fine.
😂 thanks DBZ, yeah it did mean a lot to me, made a lot of new friends online cause of it. If only you loved FF games maybe I’d love undertale in return 😂
@@dbzlook419 I know it's hard having good stories in games, it's why you stick to dragon ball and borderlands 🤣 but for real nah it's all good, not games for everyone, even more so when ever FF game is nearly completely different too. At least other series are kinda similar like some of the stuff you enjoy.
Wow, is that THE bcb, Brucimus Prime? fish are friends, NOT food? I didn’t think you were still alive out there 😂 love ya mate Yeah it will, I know you quit a long time ago before the rest of us quit but, it still brought a lot of us together for a time. Always remember Ramza 👏
@MyLivingLegacy it comes down to what you said FR Era just didn't hold my attention. The required pitties on Fr weapons was a real downer. I really enjoyed the end of ex and early Bt but the fun got sucked away when it became push 2 buttons and win.
@@bcb559 Yeah man, it was just like, no strats anymore, just, pick a gauge charger and can mash through all mechanics or difficulty and uniqueness. Don't get me wrong, sometimes that's fun, turn your brain off and mash punches with Tifa, or in your case Ramza cause as a hybrid support now he can do millions of damage (????) and just run through things but, kinda defeats the whole point of the game, so it become boring.
truth be told, I have no clue bro lmao all you ever did was log in, free multi the weapons we all wanted, and closed the game for months, you were a real bitch like that 😂 Thanks Max

I don't believe Sqex has ever done it, I've watched them shut down Mobius and Star Ocean that I played for years myself now,
I could see in my head a version where it's offline kinda, where we all start from scratch and as we progress through more story and account ranks we get access to more weapons and materials, a good few hundred hours of content there, but that would require a lot of time and rebalancing the full game to work like that, so basically money. Sqex isn't known for good money making choices lol
It's a shame to think all those game assets are just, gone now, lost. It's so weird, so much work over 7 years, never to see the light of day again, just sad man.
@@MyLivingLegacy I should have specified that square has never done it. but I think I have seen a few gacha's get repurposed as stand alone releases, though the only specific notable one i can think of off hand is the "megaman x dive offline " that is soon to release
Though maybe we can get similar treatment for omnia opera if we keep pestering square lol.
This is pretty much SE trying to redirect traffic to Ever Crisis.
Nah to be honest not at all to me. DFFOO was on its last legs way before EC came out, as a small CC for DFFOO and a Discord of DFFOO peeps, nobody but maybe 3-5 of us tried EC. Currently only 1 other than me play it that I know of, games even somehow more niche than DFFOO lol
it's a miracle DFFOO lasted as long as it did, considering it's size. I don't think EC will last half it's length for example.
my disappointment is immeasurable and my life is ruined, finding out about this dying was my worst christmas present ever😭
😂 it wasn’t the greatest end to 2023 but we sadly saw this coming from a mile away. At least they gave everyone a few months
Boy did I pick the worst time to take a break from this game!
I was looking forward to getting back into the game soon. :(
😂 yeah sorry to hear but it’s all gone now. Hopefully you enjoyed your time with the game when you did play and have a few fond memories to remember!
LITIKO
Cait Sith, Selphie, Layle
Warrior of Light, Sherlotta, Cloud
Iykyk
Cheers everyone 🎉🎉
Litiko was certainly a time to be playing at launch, Tidus and Light being mega favs of mine too. So many characters to remember 🍻
RIP DFFOO you will be missed
100% missed bro
Love the editing, love the storyboard, love the video. You killed it bro@@MyLivingLegacy
@@CrispyGamingOfficial ❤ thanks broski, means a lot man
Although I am not a fan of the Final Fantasy series, I know you loved this game and it will be miss for the joy it brought you in your harder times, but I'm sure that a strong tough and terrific boy such as yourself will be fine.
😂 thanks DBZ, yeah it did mean a lot to me, made a lot of new friends online cause of it. If only you loved FF games maybe I’d love undertale in return 😂
@MyLivingLegacy now hold on there cowboy I don't hate Final Fantasy I just have trouble with keeping up this the story.
Two Words:
_Fabula_
_Ultima_
I’ll have to watch tomorrow, but I’ll like and comment now regardless, much love bro ❤
Thanks Snow, appreciate it in advance
Sad to get it go. DFFOO will be missed.
Wow, is that THE bcb, Brucimus Prime? fish are friends, NOT food? I didn’t think you were still alive out there 😂 love ya mate
Yeah it will, I know you quit a long time ago before the rest of us quit but, it still brought a lot of us together for a time.
Why did i even watch this all?
But good video man.
truth be told, I have no clue bro lmao all you ever did was log in, free multi the weapons we all wanted, and closed the game for months, you were a real bitch like that 😂
Thanks Max
@@MyLivingLegacy but if i ever had too many BTs and FRs on my account
Well, what has been wont be again unless it can somehow be somewhere else !
English never was your strong suit was it Luke 😂
@@MyLivingLegacy It has always been. I like turning void points from relatively easy subjects into complex and weird ones whilst watching your reactions. :)
DFFOO is dead but i still gotta find a way to get my reactions at least once every few years !
I hate you haha never change Luke, or do maybe, idk, we're both lost causes@@lukep.5453

@@MyLivingLegacy I’m watching right now🤣 I watched you stream it so it counts right?
