  • Chicken Namkeen is delicious and easy to make. There are only seven ingredients in this authentic Pakistani curry but the flavours work amazingly well together. You could use vegetable oil instead of the rendered chicken fat but for me, this curry must be made with the rendered fat as it is in Pakistan. I used tinned chopped tomatoes in this recipe because it is winter now and the tinned tomatoes are better than the tomatoes I can get in the shop. Traditionally, fresh tomatoes are used. About 3 large tomatoes that are quartered and added to the sauce. The sauce is simmered and then the skin removed from the tomatoes as they break down into the sauce.

I was wandering in utube, this video pop up, and here we have our Peshawari namkeen gosht. U made it perfect, its aroma is coming here in Peshawar from Pakistan. We make it in sheep 🐑 meat. We add no oil, just sheep fat, tomatoes not grind, with salt, lots of green chilli and we love it.. thanks for making our dish. Do come Pakistan when its safe here again, currently our country is in chaos because of floor and political, economic condition.. ur new subscriber from Pakistan. Love for ur family ❤️

Wow. As a Pakistani, I am really impressed! This is the same way my mum makes Chicken Mandi! She sometimes makes it with lamb and won't add tomatoes to it. They make it like that up North in Peshawar. Great work! Really enjoyed your video!

Hi Ayesha - Thank you very much. I don't think I've tried chicken mandi. Will have to look that up. Thank you! :-)

@@DanToombs Hiya! It's essentially the same as your curry. As you may have noticed, it uses very few spices. Hardly any garam masala in there! The aroma comes from the green chillies and garlic and ginger. Some differences here and there, but it's like I say about Pakistani food: if it tastes good, you've done it right!
