Same show tomorrow night in Waukegan, Illinois. Should be good. Last time in our city they also had Guy Clark and Joe Ely. And that was the best show I've ever seen at that hometown theatre.
grew up listening to Ry Cooder John Hiatt then Lyle Lovett along with Guy Clark, Joe Ely then found out how connected they were.. amazing musicians and seemingly amazing ppl ... thanks Texas for these musicians and letting John in.
I like the way at a little over 25 minutes that John Hiatt was telling Lyle that he rocks. Then he says "I've seen those horns come up". Lyle starts to say "I've never..." I think he remembered where he was and didn't continue saying he has never made the hook'em horns symbol. Being the Good Aggie that he is.
John Hiatt is such an incredible all around artist..even he seems NOT to know this. He's the greatest secret in your record collection.Beautiful post thanks KUT Austin..y'a got class.
This just floored me... Jackie Green is the only one I can think of that has taken the torch from these guys. So sad today's talent compared to this. Watch Jimi doing Lulu Voodoo Child live... no one to this day can touch his guitar playing.
If you haven't checked out Jason Isbell, you should. He's one of the best songwriters out there and his talent stands up to the best that have been. No one will ever play like Jimi again, but check out Dereck Trucks. Amazing talent on guitar that will also stand up with the best that have been. There's two examples of amazing talent today, it's around you just have to look past all the garbage.
jack straw79 ...." If you haven't checked out Jason Isbell, you should." THIS. Mr. Jack Straw is only mistaken in the lack of emphasis in his recommendation. I feel lucky to have discovered Jason Isbell last year when I read a feature about his gear in Premier Guitar magazine ("Jason Isbell Rig Rundown"). He is certain to bring us great songs for years to come. Do yourself a favor and give him a listen or three.
Gosh this MUSIC is so different from the auto-tuned nonsense of todays pop music. If more young people heard this we'd see a different landscape in the music world, of what is great........ as this is.
I'm a '98 baby (20 years old) and I dig both Lovett & Hiatt. I believe it was through Lyle Lovett, that I started digging into Hiatt's work. Poignant, honest, raw storytelling in song form. We need more like them.
I sooooo love both of these guys but this interview is particularly great cuz Lyle sounds so relaxed and is having so much fun!! It's great to hear him laugh so much!!
I saw these two together at E-Town in Boulder at the Boulder Theater a few years back. They seemed pretty relaxed and it was nice to see them in a smaller venue. Both at the top of their games and didn't have to be too competitive. Look up John Hiatt's Wikipedia page and see the artists who've recorded his songs. Uuuuunreal!
Mr Lyle Lovett has to be one of the most decent ,modest and gracious guys out there ...anywhere ? Mr Hiatt is pretty noble too . Civility costs nothing ..its all buckshee as we say here in Scotland . I think that politicians can learn some home truths when listening to these two gentlemen ?
Saw them along with Joe Ely and Guy Clark at the Carnegie Music Hall in Pittsburgh. Just the 4 of them , tradin songs! What an amazing evening! My Bride and I have also caught John 4 times. Always a great show by a great singer.
These two together are so funny. I laughed so much listening to them. Great personalities and songwriters too. Been a fan of both of them forever.
The best show I've ever seen was watching these two guys play together. 2 guys, a bunch of guitars, and a couple hours of awesome.
Completely agree with you - it was incredible!

They're so great, and together, so amiable! ❤
Two of my favorite singer-songwriters right there.
Humility is essential to the growth of an artist. You see that here. It means they listen more and thus they learn more.
Humility is essential to the growth of everyone
@@canyonroots Their humanity shines through in this work. Songwriters mark. Cheers!
Saw these 2 together in a very small venue in Vienna Austria....Best Show Ever

Two of the best!!! :)
Going to see them together this weekend! Should be good times bordering on the divine/religious experience.
Flying to Miami today to catch a boat to float around for a week with the two of them (and many others)!
Cayamo - Live Loud!

Just damn awesome!
Great Interviews ! Thank You .
Lyle is from an anchored trad texan dynasty
I would have Truly Like to see these at the Troy saving bank music hall,NEXT time I hope to be there!!#!!!
John Hiatt forever
Can't believe that guy questions Lyle about his music. He's one of the best
Cool together! ❤
If they're running a fast break, slow it down
John Hiatt has more stage presence than Jimmy Page and Roger Daltrey put together... about as much as Pete Townshend in his pomp
"No Disc respect"

Why does Lyle Lovett sit in half a chair all the time?
@@lisa.user-xm7kz2tb6x You cannot be serious :)
*Maybe you'd like to know a little 'bout me...*
Both modest about their brilliant talent. Two unassuming men, sharing and enjoying their gifts.

I love this music. So much better than the crap that's shoved up one's 'muffler'...
@@ducknamedstella3549 Yep Mr Lovett got my interest in John Hiatt as well
This is what impromptu radio studio music is all about......Koool!
Well, I've always loved John Hiatt but that's one damn depressing song right there. Still enjoyed hearing them bs.
John Hiatt is one of my preferred musicians, I hope I like him with Lyle...
Two icons of the art of song writing and performance; thank you both. 👍

I’d think it would be hard not to have good time w/ John.
Two of the greatest, thanks for posting!
A bit awkward for Dutch people: "kut" (pronunciation: "cut") = vagina in Dutch.
I almost feel bad for the people who are busy trying to cure their beiber fever, and haven't stumbled upon this video!
It's not just what they "could" do, it's that it was their reckoning.
Come On Baby Drive South with the ones you love!! Both of the gents are class acts
Very nice thanks

Love that Lyle Lovett💖🎶💖🎶💖💖💖💖
love them both...got to see both live..not together...but always a good time.
Me too, John by himself and Lyle with his large band. Great concerts, lotta fun, great music.
Kevin Shirley? The same dude that produces and records the Iron Maiden records since 2001 produced a John Hiatt record? How cool is that!
Two legendary singer songwriters playing together, no downside.
EPIC

T'would be nice to see when (Date) this was done. I couldn't see anything to indicate that. Thanks -
JIm, KUT posted it to RUclips on Jun 30, 2011 so I would guess it was that date (or very close) when it was recorded.
3751 5 and all the r u o know how much you rock n on
Rock On Children 🎸
both these men are great at what they do enjoy them
Lyle Lovett comes across more confident and strong in this interview.
Love them both!
Seen them both. Twice. My favorite songwriter
One hell of a song writer
