It's a goddamn shame John is not in the RRHOF. He's written some of the greatest songs ever and has definitely paid his dues. I have a bad feeling that Bouncy and Lay-Z will make before John.
I am going to see him in concernt TONIGHT. So looking forward to it. I have seen him once before and thoroughly enjoyed it. I cannot believe he doesn't have a larger following. He is like the best kept secret.
At 9:04 Crossings Muddy Waters. As I was Driving South to take my momma back to Florida from Virginia I had this song playing on the CD. After listening momma " asked did she ever come back for her baby daughter " ?
There ain't no coming back after you've crossed that particular river (for those who don't know, that song is about the suicide of his first wife). John talks candidly about his upbringing in a dysfunctional family, his addictions and personal tragedies, in an interview on the Trudge the Road RUclips channel. If you've ever heard his song "Seven Little Indians", it's completely autobiographical.
These guys are clearly having fun. Cut a deal and keep them John. This is so cool. Great sound and awesome song selections. Feels Like Rain just got knocked out of the park.
That’s for sharing this gem John is in one my favourite performers and this is one great concert Drive South is a classic to start with - gonna love this Thanks New West ✅
So many people I know say they've heard of John Hiatt but don't know any of his songs. I always respond 'you might be surprised how many you know, but you've only heard other people performing them.' JH is a songwriting master.
@@danielmorris3687 Like my old girlfriend when I told her I was going to see Gregg Allman. Her response? "You mean Cher's husband?" Same girlfriend thought "Have a little faith in me" was a Mandy Moore song. She's no longer my girlfriend.
Too right Lasse! I also truly adore John's work, but this band just sucks the life out of these otherwise fabulous songs. Just makes me wish for a reunion of what was arguably one of the most kick-ass "occasional" bands ever to form: Little Village.
@@nobull7406 I think ill give it the same conclusion. I saw him back in 2002 in Memphis.John set the pace and level of excitement and the band and crowd followed suit. We cant expect a 1987 John Hiatt to show up in 2013 or whatever year this was performed. Still, on it's own its a good performance.
I’ve seen him probably a dozen times. I saw him w this band (I think- right time frame ) a couple times and thought he was great but the band was flat. Then I saw him again on the 30th anniversary Slow Turning your w Sonny Landreth on guitar. Best show I’ve ever seen out of hundreds. I almost don’t want to see him again to burst that memory. JH is my all time favorite

I actually think he will eventually get in. We all need to get Jon Landau's email and inudate him with our demand! Ha.
Agree 100%.. John Haitt an American Treasure!
When you think about how many notable artists have recorded a song of his, it would be a damn shame if he wasn't!
John Hiatt is too good for that shit hole mausoleum.
But I agree with you in principle.
Agree 🌸🌺❤️🙏
Love this the mans music is awesome
🌸🌺❤️
An absolute American gem! He is criminally underrated in the music listening public. Thankfully he is greatly respected by the music industry.
He's a very good guy too😊
He also wrote and performed "Riding With the King" before Eric Clapton and B.B. King performed it. I love Hiatt! Has a southern delta-roots sound!
🌸🌺❤️❤️❤️
The voice ❤
🌺❤️
Such a fantastic set.
Timeless music lasts forever ❤
🌸🌺❤️
Great band!
This takes me back to fun times in my way distant youth, John is sounding great!
❤
Love this Guy!
I had not heard "Have a little faith in me" played with the guitar instead of the piano before. It sounds great!
🌸❤️
I first saw John live in 1979 or 80 at Strathclyde Uni in Glasgow. Loved him ever since.
I am going to see him in concernt TONIGHT. So looking forward to it. I have seen him once before and thoroughly enjoyed it. I cannot believe he doesn't have a larger following. He is like the best kept secret.

Hey John .... PLEASE make your way down to New Zealand one day
🌺❤️🇸🇪
Great stuff ! I'm thinkin JH and Billy Strings need to collaberate. ✌️❤️
🌸🌺❤️🙏
Hats Off! Absolutely Great!!! From a Long Time ago!!!!
Digging the combo. Seen JH many times with several different backing bands and he always has a tight band.

Just beautiful 🌸🌺❤️
That’s for sharing this gem

My two favourite players in one - thank you guys!!
Machtig mooi ❤
Love it!
We LOVE 💕 John Hiatt!! 😇😎
So good!!
Oh, this is so dang good.
Thank you so much for posting, such a treat to watch this tonight via chrome cast on the Telly!! 🤗
Thank you New West - this arrived at the right time!
What a great show, there are a couple tunes not on this version, Doug Lancio is one of my favorite guitar players.
The real thing.
Its bad enough the commercials interrupt the music, but why do they have to be at 10 times the volume?
I love John Hiatt. And I will go to my grave believing that Drive South is about oral sex.
Any Country Bears fans here? XDD
I love John, but this is not the greatest band 😞

John with the Guilty Dogs in 1993 kicked ass at 328 Performance Hall in Nashville !

@@steveb796hard to compare to Sonny Landreth or Ry Cooder.
I’m just going to say what many are thinking, Hiatt is very talented but this would be very hard to sit through
