      The wheel is too predictable these days. It doesn't feel luck-based anymore.

      @@wecantfightgravity What I don't like is when the contestants spin the wheel, they say "Big money!" That can be really annoying.

      maybe just a ceremonial thing or was supposed to be some type of randomness gesture. Just guessing.

      @@jeremyfoley7385 you mean how the canned crowd noise gets added in post-production :) There was hardly anyone in the audience, if I remember correctly...mostly just parents.

      @@sweetlife031 Pat isn't the only one to do that, Chuck Woolery, Rolf Benirschke and Bob Goen all did the same thing
      I guess they're just reminding everyone about the famous Wheel of Fortune

    Well Jason. I gotta tell you. I really love that old classic "Wheel of Fortune" theme song! Merv Griffin the Creator of Wheel of Fortune did an amazing job composing it!

      Me too...the earliest WOF theme music is very vivid to me, as well as those other music cues back then! I watched this era as a young child 🙂

    I remember this episode and was happy you won. Of course, I was a little biased because you share my name. LOL! I also remember that “Building a snowman” was the puzzle you solved in the speed-up round during the regular game play.

      @@flava27 Thank you. I was surprised that I did. But I do remember him solving the “event” puzzle “Building a snowman” and Pat was so impressed that he told him “Nice puzzle solving” or something like that.

    This is awesome! I probably watched this as a game show junkie at 7 or 8 when this aired. I was on TPIR in 1997 and won some prizes, and I can remember the amount of makeup Barker had on his face was astonishing. He looked like Casper, the friendly ghost. I really hardly recognized him (of course, I kept that to myself). These were the days when Pat stuck around when a contestant won the bonus round instead of going out of camera range immediately after. Great video!

      I miss NBC Daytime back when they had Game Shows including Wheel of Fortune
      Now all they have are Days of our Lives and 4 freakin' hours of TODAY

      Pretty sure I'm the youngest ever solo winner. Apparently there was a 12-year old that won with his teacher, as a duo, however.

      Hi, James. I sold the clunker of a car to my aunt, as I had 3 more years to go to get my license, which I got at 16.

      It was heavy, for sure, but I don't remember thinking anything of it and certainly have nothing to compare it with. The new little tubes the contestants use now are kinda weird, but less friction I guess and covid-friendly.

      Nope, never made friends with any of them...all business with almost no time hanging out together :) My parents told me after that they overheard Sandy say: "I can't believe that little shit beat me!" BWAHAHAHA!
