This video echos the old saying "find something you enjoy doing, and you'll never work a day in your life". I'm glad to hear that your ladies are doing well with their business. On a side note, I didn't hear the helicopter noise over my speakers. I backed up the video, and didn't hear it over my headset. To add an asterisk to that, I do have a fair amount of hearing loss. GREAT VIDEO!!!
I have so many scraps and I always want to do earrings. But I haven’t yet. I really need to get on the ball with that. Great video. I love that she’s went down this rabbit hole. And…. How she’s running it. It’s a business… but it’s more hobby based and it sounds like she’s having fun with it.
Boxes, satchels, bubblewrap, scrunchie paper, and other forms of packaging are often an after thought for sellers. But a little creativity and branding really increases the appeal of the product.
Mate the project you made with the wolf and the deer - you should try to add small LEDs to it... My guess is it would get a ton of attention for being different... Just an idea to think of... Great piece of artwork - love the channel.
Social media mentioning has done almost nothing for us BUT, I don't have almost 700k subs on my channel so it may just be so small that I don't notice it. Etsy has worked well for us and craft fairs that are marketed well. I'm glad hers is doing so well.
Jay, care to add a link to her site in the description? I mean I know what the website is and I'm going to check it out, but I bet you get more curiousity clicks with a link available
Hi, Jay. I've watched you for a while and always enjoy your videos. I went to your wife's site because I kind of liked the font on the Fairlynn acrylic light at 7:48. Unfortunately, the fonts aren't listed. Would you know what it is? Thanks!
Wireless microphone transceiver. Microphone plugs into it and sends signal to the receiver. I have a wired microphone clipped to the rim of my hat with the wire on top of my head.
I remember the first time someone said Jonathon in a video about Jay. Threw me too. I actually skipped back to see who they were talking about, and if I'd missed something.
One major asterisk that is actually a big deal is your channel. You already have a following and when you mention it, it makes a bit impact. Not sure what kind of following she has either but just for a Joe blow couple it could be not as realistic to make these numbers.
What about the time it took to make this video? Do I include the labor cost there? And when I get groceries with my vehicle, am I supposed to include depreciation on the vehicle, the fuel costs, maintenance costs, tire costs? Where does it end?
@@JayBates this video is extra business, so no. groceries has nothing to do with th business so no. vehicle... how is that used in your business? probably not... real estate is the space you dedicate to that business and you pay property tax , insurance , utilities for .. so yes it is cost of business... did not mean to be sarcastic but I appreciate your childish answer

You should wear one of the butterfly earrings in your next project video. :)

It is lovely that you and your family are enjoying this together and if you make a couple of bucks, that is awesome.
I got into laser engraving. I love it. Pens and slate coasters so far has been my best items. Working on tumblers now.
Glad to see you are are all having fun with it

You are a good man Jay!
Such a great story. And wonderful how it worked out

Uline has great prices on shipping supplies. I like promoting my job.
what about cost of electricity?

I can't believe I forgot that. Added.

THOSE LAYERED PICTURED COULD BE SOLD WITH THE LAYERS UNGLUED. IT'D BE FUN FOR THE CUSTOMER TO PAINT THEM HOWEVER THEY LIKED!
How do I learn to make such paintings with multiple layers?
Those weren't helicopters you were hearing, that was the sound of freedom.👍
Interesting video and information. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Jay🙌
What is the device on the back of your hat? I assume it's a remote microphone, but it works really well, if that's what it is.

what software do you guys use
?, and any resorce recommendation for learning the processes of designing?
Change "ear rings" to "Christmas tree ornaments".
huh?
@JayBates I think they mean that if she markets the earrings as ornaments (maybe mini-ornaments, I'd say) and they may sell faster than as earrings.
Very nice video, thanks a lot!😁👍🏻
Thanks for sharing the info.
Are magnets able to be cut\engraved? Or even scored.
Not sure. She glues magnets to the back of what she makes tho
Do you sell the file for the nativity scene? That is beautiful! Where can I get that file for my p2? Thank you
Etsy
I went to your wife's laser website, I never would have guessed Jay is short for Jonathan.
JonathOn

I think you once stated that you do not sell your woodworking projects. How do you make money?
Digital Media… plans, sponsors, ad revenue
Digital media. Visit Smart Passive Income .com to fall down the rabbit hole.
@@JayBates interesting site. Are you concerned that RUclips might change their policies to one’s that would reduce your income?
Whats your thoughts, this machine or an omtech 60w or 80w? (For full time business)
I have no experience with those machines so I cannot offer advice on them.
Where do you get your wood?
Plywood linked in the description. I get rough sawn lumber from a local seller.
What do you use to cut the bulk acrylic?
I get it in a size already suited for the machine.
@@JayBates I meant for the shape of the led light thing.
@@mattgeczi7893 I believe the laser cuts it.
@@ZrubekFamily I thought cutting acrylic with the laser was a no no

Eh, excuses. She's still responsible for the majority of her income, not coming from me mentioning it.
Asterisk. Not asterik.
Add real estate cost and you are loosing money
