To use a Hole-Saw effectively, mount a small chunk of aluminium plate under the housing and clamp it, drill the pilot drill into it. this will keep the saw true while you cut.
bolt a piece of 4x2 timber across the bell housing flange where you want to use the holesaw. You can pilot drill in to the timber and keep the saw registered on one axis for a clean cutout.
Nice looking kit mate- The heavy duty release bearing is the mutts nuts, well worth the ££ for piece of mind after my std LR item gave up trying to compress the Sach springs!
You gave me a great idea The 524td engine of mine…..looks like I can sandwich a flywheel and flex plate together and use my dodge getrag bell housing for one application and Toyota bell for the other…. What is your Sachs clutch diameter?

you have taught me alot about te om606. do you think one could be filled to a 1985 t2 409d mercedes? im looking at the space an im not sue as i have never been up close to a 606. silly question time. im wondering if it could be fitted further back in the van so the engine would sort of be under the front seats in the van. then the width would not mater so much it wold just be the height of the engine.. when the engine is fitted at its angle how tall is it? thanks alot
For the starter motor mounting could you thread the adapter plate. Pass the counter sunk bolts through the plate, locktite and then attach starter motor in the normal way and use nuts? Good video. Cheers.
For a complete noob to these conversations is there a drive in drive out kit list for a landrover to OM606 on an auto box. Iv looked on the groups but everyone seems to have their own way and I don’t want my landy day on a ramp for months because there was an adaptor or part I missed.

Just pointing out an issue I can see with this setup. You end up with a nice big hole halfway up the bellhousing for mud and water to get in. Which can be a bit of a problem if someone takes their landrover off road. Is there something you can do to sort this out with your kit? Only trying to be helpful.
Yes your correct but as you can see a landrover bellhousing was never designed to accept a Mercedes engine/starter position so it’s a compromise. I have seen some guys make up a small tin shield.

Hi am looking to modify my discovery 2 v8 petrol with the 606 but thinking of keeping my original gearbox!! Idea of how to modify the mesh ?? Also to use the 606 with the electronic pump do I need the complete harness and the computer box ?

I would suggest using a piece of wood as more people will have access to wood than ally plate. Plus wood is cheap 😁

I should add- the std bearing was also subjected to 2 years hard use offroad, wading in assorts of muddy wetness before it gave up!

One of those engines in a P38 diesel range rover to replace the anaemic BMW 2.5l straight six diesel would be a brilliant conversion.
What about a Td5? What tune can the R380 take in terms of torque (Nm) from the 606?
